      Yes it was!.. With four of having FPV drones and Dji Neo its fun trying to push a cinematic drone to do fpv combinations. Great for indoor winter time flying, safe around people etc.. And in the Neo when settings are adjusted in the Sports mode, this little guys rips around the building nicely

    I have a flex sdr and 2 other sdr type radios and several ubitx txrx rigs SBITX: Overall it worked very well. I had few issues and worked many many contacts - mostly FT8 - 24/7 The ssb mic supplied is not good. I had to change the cartridges for a more sensitive one and then it was fine. My original main goal was to test it for Digital modes and run ssb remote via a web browser .. Unfortunately there is no TX ssb audio available , they are still working on that feature. The 7 inch screen is ok but to small to run most external digital pgms like wsjtx etc , so an external monitor was used. It does remote via browser for Dgital modes fine. When the software is modified I will likely purchase another Board only (cheaper), so i can mount into my 3d printed case Joe VE1BWV

    Very nice video Joe. Thank you! Do you run the sBitx into an external amp because you are afraid of damaging the sBitx finals at a higher power with the high duty cycle of FT8? I know my sBitx gets way to warm after just a few QSOs at just 15 watts.

      I have run digital modes for many years. Working stations for many hours at a time.. never had and tx failures or heating. I prefer to always run my digital mode type radios at not more than half its rating and let a small 30 - 35 watts do all the work That the radio runs cold and the amp also runs very cool (120 watt amp)

      Yes I can. I will try and make another video describing install and the setup. Installing grid tracker is not difficult but can be confusing. Google Gridtracker and download the raspberry pi or Debian version. Then install the app. It can be strange if your not familiar with basic Linux type commands.

    Excellent video, fun to watch. Do you start to run out of memory after installing the extra software? The grid tracker and WSTX-Z, do they take up a lot of space?

    • @joebasque2655
      @joebasque2655 Год назад

      I use a pi4 4gig memory. It only requires a 2 gig. The extra memory makes it run smoother. All the programs don't take much memory. So far even when I run more pgms everything keeps working. Not sure exactly how much space wsjtx-z and Grid tracker take. I have been running sbit 24/7 and it just runs. My only issue, is the ssb, voice has poor reports with the enclosed mic. The internal mic is better but still not perfect. Many users have the same issue. Some have found a mic which works fine, so need to check around. Since I use it 99.99 percent for digital modes.. it's no big issue.

    Outstanding functionality with low cost components. The hackable nature of this hardware and software with modern technology is the part of ham radio that really excites me as a new operator. Don't understand why this isn't a more popular build. I will be trying something like this with the current 1.6 and Nextion display. Another idea to take it to the next level would be to integrate something like the APM2 DSP module and program it with Sigma Studio to have audio compression and EQ for first class audio. KI6UML

      I have had great performance with my Tinyhawks. I own a TinyhawkS two Tinyhawk 2 and now the tinyhawk3. The tinyhawk 3 is my favorite except this one did have issues from the beginning. I did get around 7 min with a gnb 660. But problems came quickly. Vtx freq did not match betaflight, video disappearing, and then one day after just turning it on it was dead. It took a while to narrow it down. Anyway, I contacted Emax described issues and then sent 2 videos showing the latest Esc problem. After quite a few back and forth with emails to try stuff I made this video. They stepped up, recognized the issue and said they would send a new Aio for the tinyhawk 3. I received excellent support from Emax support persons. Two days later I have a tracking number for the new Aio. Looking forward to get it flying, they are so much fun and normally very rugged.

      Yes, many options coming on line. It gets confusing. Digiview or Digiview SBC are also both very interesting. It may come down to 2 versions depending on features. I would love to get rid of the usb-c connection from device to goggles. Less wires.. Some wifi gadget which shoots the data as is out to device from goggles. Everything, is just so new and progress is moving very fast. I think I would prefer the software to be flexible, provide clean smooth video for spectators, recordable. Not really looking to fly with the live video but to provide a window for spectators or other flyers and perfect recording. Of course, a big issue is outside viewing is very difficult. Nice if pilot is outside and viewers inside watching on a large Hdmi Monitor, or live stream via RUclips. Nice feature about Cosmostreamer is it can stream to the world and at same time allow anyone to connect with their phone, tablet,pc or laptop,or chrome device.
