Hi, I understand well what You are doing here, but my Question is: What's about the different lengths and widths of the knitting stitches and the rows? Usually the stitches are longer than they are wide. At the end the strap will have the number of rows which the front and the back of the gansey has stitches in the upper row, isn't ist? Isn't the strap too long then? Would it help to use thinner needles for the strap?

Sorry, that was wrong, my stitches are shorter than wide, I've had 29 stitches and 43 rows for 10 cm, that's a ratio of 1 to 1.48. Could it be a good solution to increase the number of stitches in the last row before starting the strap?

Hi, what size needles are you using?

Almost as good as watching Gran knitting. It looks like she's using a knitting belt.

I'm sorry, but the explanation of this technique was not very clear.

You are filling the gap between the front and back pieces by working a stitch from the two sides with the edge stitches from the middle sts you had cast on row by row. Thereby filling in the gap between the front and the back.
