That was a very entertaining family friendly video !! Great job. On a sidenote, I came across a Super Decathlon flight manual. I knew that the Decathlon had a load limit of +6/-5 in the acrobatic category, but "always" was curious about its limit in the normal category. Well I found out - it's +5/-3. I think those are really good limits for any airplane, and believe me, the Super Decathlon would be my first choice in a 2 seat production/certified aircraft. But what's pretty neat, is the Bush Cat is rated at +6/-4 load factor and I'm assuming the Bush Cat only has one category correct ?? That being normal category {let me know if that assumption is false} Of course the Bush Cat is Experimental so I'm not sure how Experimental are even rated. Do experimentals even have Normal, Utility, and acro categories ?? Regardless, I think +6/-4 for the Bush Cat is a huge thumbs up regardless of what cat {no pun intended} it's classified. The Super Decathlon is rated for a 17 knot X wind and I think you told me the "cat" can handle MORE. I almost wish flight schools would choose Super Decathlons for primary training over the Pipers and Cessnas. But as far as personal airplane, if my numbers are correct, I think for the price of 1 brand new Super Decathlon, you can get at least 3, and possibly 4 brand new Bush Cats. Payload is actually a tad higher in the Bush Cat verses the Super Decathlon. The big areas the Super Decathlon is better than the "cat", is 140 MPH cruise, able to do aerobatics {it has an inverted oil & fuel system} and can tow gliders. But my main purpose in this comment was to point out that as far as load factor limits, the Bush Cat is on par with a Super Decathlon which is pretty impressive. And I did read that the Bush Cat was spin tested. But what I'd like to find out, is when the spin tests were conducted, was it done at the aft limit of the CG envelope ?? Daniella has said several times in videos that the Bush Cat is {perhaps} the most tested aircraft in its class. I just wish on their website, we could get ALL the numbers - especially the testing numbers. If you have any info regarding the actual tests that were conducted on the Bush Cat, please share it !! Thnks.
Hello. Sorry I don’t have the spin testing numbers. I’m sure AeroSport can help you with that. FYI the BushCat is Experimental if you build it yourself. But as a factory built it is SLSA. At +6 -4 the BushCat is one sturdy airframe. I doubt I’ll ever be testing the limits on that one. I’ve pulled enough Gs to really press me in the seat. Then I look at my G meter and it’s only at 2. 😄. Thanks for chiming in.
