The biggest struggle I face as a creative is having to deal with client projects that I really just don’t wanna do. But as my gear gets more and more expensive, I feel like I have to or else this becomes a very expensive hobby. I just wanna work on MY craft, not someones product shots :/
The amount of truth in this comment is crazy. It’s a really tricky balance man. The best thing I’ve found to help alleviate those struggles and sticking points honestly is to take on the more odd or ‘off the wall’ projects that come your way. For some reason, when I feel neck deep in client work and need to create to afford the gear and bills, sometimes working on something I’ve never tried before can almost reset my creative tank if that makes sense… A little weird I know but it’s something I’ve noticed over time.
Just recorded a video today for my channel with kind of a similar message. I felt a little lost in my client work and remembered myself why I started Video in the first place and that I probably just have to create more passion projects again in order to feel better about my client work again 🙏🏻 Thanks for sharing
At this point in my life, i'm finding it difficult to find my voice. I'm working a full-time job as an editor, and then i realized i don't love what I do after 6 months of working, but you got to pay the bills. Thanks for this video Ryan.
That is absolutely true. Actually I realised the same few months back and stopped uploading weekly content. Now I just create videos on the topics which are important(not popular) in my perspective and thinking to create vlogs around the idea which is important for me. :) This video made me bit emotional.
I've been struggling a lot lately to find enough work. This is a great reminder for times like right now when motivation and feelings of success are so low. Thanks Ryan!
This did actually really hit the spot. As I relate both from my experience of running a production company but also my newly started RUclips journey. Thanks for sharing you honest inner voice.
I’m really impressed how well you expressed this topic of our “Why.” Your videos are quite inspirational and insightful. Great job Ryan. Keep up the great work man.
Great message Ryan, seriously super inspiring. Especially for me, I’m constantly overthinking videos and not uploading anything as a result. Thanks! You two moving or just a prop for the video? Also how was Sony “camp”?
It can be so hard to find and follow your passion! Thankfully it was really easy for me. Watching these great ass videos is my passion, trust me I’m good at what I do 😉 All jokes aside, Ryan your videos lately have really hit home right when I’ve needed them and I’m very grateful to call you a friend. Good luck with the big move and don’t forget me when your DP-ing for Michael Bay 😂 transformers 18 is going to slap
Very warm and true words what your sad. This very gcool to listen to your words. Thanks a lot and I hope to roll my channel..it's small but hopefully it will be grow :) thanks for your vids
Interesting to see a video talking about doing videos in an authentic way that isn't trendy or out to make money or capture views BUT that is done in the most trendy, formulaic way with an advertisement in the middle and a super click baity title. Way to be a slick hypocrite there, Ryan. I'm sure this will get you lots of those views you aren't interested in lol ;-)

I feel you, usually client work sucks creatively. Try to make some time for passion projects with friends. Makes all the difference
@@philippscheithauer i also feel same way too

@@RyanKao nothing weird about that.
Yeah, I had to give up the profession. It was just too difficult to be into the work at all for some project I dont care about whatsoever
Great reminder, getting back to the roots. Authenticity is 🔑
Appreciate you Ben. Hope you’ve been well 🤝

Glad you connected with it Maik. It’s always so fascinating to reflect like this. Hope you’re doing well!
Make Quality, not quantity. No other way to make that creativity blossom. My projects are like that. They are a product of my passion.
100%

A much more fitting title for what this is, thanks.
