    Hello, I just wanted to say thank you for this video. It Helped me fix the problem that I was having and spent all day trying to figure it out. Banding was my issue and I must have printed over 40 sheets and ran over 10 cleaning runs on the heads until finally stumbling across this video. Changing the paper setting to matte was the solution for me. Thank you again!

    Hello! Thank you for being here! I converted an Epson EcoTank 4760 and have been using it for months with beautiful results. Recently I let it sit for about a month and the nozzles clogged up. I bought a cleaning kit and cleaned them to no avail. I ended up running a complete nozzle cleaning/purge and that seemed to clear everything up. I ran two purge prints after the total cleaning and all the colors looked good. I then sublimated four Cricut coffee mugs and got blue splotches of ink in multiple random spots on all four mugs. I used the same ink, same A-Sub paper, Cricut mug press (so time and temp and pressure is set). The only thing different was a new heat tape that is thin and did not seem very sticky so I used more than normal and a lighter weight butcher paper, but still double layered it. I have googled the issue and folks seem to think everything from lint (I lint rolled all mugs), ink transfer from the tape or ink overspray (whatever that is). I am at a loss and I have my first craft sale coming up and I am terrified to sublimate all the other items I have! Any suggestions would be appreciated. You are absolutely my go to person for sublimation. I love your videos and all the help.

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  2 года назад +1

      Try looking at the humidity in your home. See if it is really humid or really dry. That could be causing the issue. I would experiment on some 100% polyester cloth for pressing instead of ruining more blanks!

    I purchased the Epson 2760 and installed the Hiipoo sublimation ink as directed. I charged the ink as directed on the printer screen. I ran the tests to calibrate the machine but I cannot get the print head nozzles clean. There are no gaps with the black ink, but several gaps in the cyan and magenta. (I can't see the yellow well enough to tell how that one looks.) I have run the cleaning cycle at least 8 times. No dice. I am reluctant to run the "Power clean" , because of the warning that it uses a LOT of ink, and might even prematurely saturate the ink pads inside, thereby needing service. Have you ever had this problem among the many Epson printers you have shown in your videos? Thank you for providing so many great videos on how to have successful sublimation products!

    Angie, We have #6 and #7 problems quite often. Sometimes we see a tiny dot on our printed paper (Sawgrass 1000). Sometimes we can't see them but do see a dot after pressing. We use all the correct things: sub printer, sub paper, 100% poly shirt. We preheat each shirt. Our customers will not accept with one tiny dot, so we waste a lot and don't make near as much income. We have watched videos about cleaning the printer. We have cleaned and cleaned and cleaned it. We have called Sawgrass. We cannot find anyone to service a Sawgrass printer. We are willing to pay for servicing but no one will take it on. Heat Press Nation won't take it; Sawgrass itself won't take them. Their only answer to us is to buy a new one. We bought this one a year and a half ago; we shouldn't have to spend $1500 and get a new one each year. Any suggestions further than what you have given. And, can you recommend any printer besides Sawgrass? We are willing to purchase a new one but we refuse to buy Sawgrass again since they have no service. Thanks. I hope you see this; I know the video is old. Julie

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  2 года назад

      It is probably on your paper but you can't see it before pressing. My guess would be your printer is dirty or your paper is curling and hitting the print head. For the dirty printer, clean any visible areas and run plain paper through printing like one letter on each copy a few times. For curling paper, check the humidity in your space, how you store your paper, etc. Usually it is something that is causing it to curl up.

    Pizza wheel tracks: We literally had to stop sublimating our own items and switch to outsourced POD instead because of this nightmare issue. We tried EVERYTHING...first we slowed down the printer, then we played with ink settings, we cleaned the wheels, then we tried removing some of the wheels (which actually helped some) and in the process accidentally pulled loose the power cord/tape for the printer head (which led to having to open up our entire printer's outer case/shell to plug it back in!). Yesterday I just learned the sub paper we were using (A-Sub 125g) is notorious for creating pizza wheel tracks because of either the paper thickness or the coating on the top of it. This was the first time I'd heard the paper could be the culprit! So we will be trying to resume sublimating at home again.

    I' have an order for 500 Mousepads. I've been experienceing two issues I've had promles with. 1. Missing transfer stripes along the edge on one side and 2. Having a mark near the corner that looks like, when you iron something and it leaves a shiny spot. Which I assume is from too much pressure or too much time. The first 100 pads looked great. Then I took a break for a couple of days, then when I came back to start pressing again, when I staarted getting the faded spots and edge "banding". What I think really messed me up was printing a bunch of transfers in advance, letting them dry, then putting them in a ziplock pouch; thinking that would keep them from humidity getting at them. After trying numerous tricks and hacks from RUclips, none ofwhich solved the problem; I noticed that the paper was ripply on the side where banding was appearing. No amount of pressure or preheating, got rid of the ripples. By preheating I mean, putting the pad and transfer paper in the press, with the heat platten about 2" above the ready to press project. Testing variously increasing times. Nothing would flatten the ripples enough to avoid the banding on some of the pads. Do you have a suggestion, other than tossing 200 preprinted sheets and start again with fresh prints?
    Sorry for the long story, but you asked for topics for future videos. I'd be glad to send you photos, so you can see for yourself exactly what I tried to describe. Or even mail a couple to you. I can't find any printing in bulk videos that cover these issues.
    Thank you for all the good advice!

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  7 месяцев назад

      Definitely sounds like moisture in the paper. I generally hover the heat press over the paper to remove moisture. In this case, they may have been warped by the ziploc. I would always add dessicant packs to the ziploc if you are going to store. You could try adding several packs and leaving them overnight to see if some of the moisture would be removed.

      I am worried about the mugs and if they are good quality sublimation blanks. On the yellowing, did you use yellow heat tape and is the discoloration in those areas? That may be the issue. I would also check the time and temperature recommended by the place where you purchased the mugs. You can wash off any paper that sticks but I usually don't have that issue with mugs.

Also, when it came time to remove the sublimation paper (after cooling down) some of the heat tapes had melted, it was difficult to remove.
