- I've wanted to ride solo from Newport Beach to Catalina Island on my SeaDoo for a while. So what better day to do it than on my birthday and on my new 2023 Explorer Pro. I wanted to test out this new adventure ski fully loaded with gear and see if I really could pack it with enough kit to do an overnight trip to the Island. The conditions on your trip out to the Island is similar to what we get on Lake Erie as soon as the SW winds pick up with one exception, the lake waves are much closer together, makes for a long tiring ride.
As for the new SeaDoo, I'm not liking the look still.

Haha, did it "solo" too this summer. My wife and I crossed for the first time and conditions we're brutal (fog and 15 knots wind). Note: we did pack per your recommendations: safety, radio, GPS, etc..) Avalon is really nice! Great Work 👍. Did you try to create a group on MeetUp for thrips like this?

Nice trip, a bit rough but there are worse ways to spend a day. We use ski goggles to keep the water out of the peepers. We're up north of you in Ventura, need to make a Catalina run some day.

It’s a sponsored ski from SeaDoo so I didn’t pay for it. But I believe the Explorer Pros are $19k and the trailers are $2k ish
