Finally someone with thick and curly hair doing a video. I wish I saw this years ago instead of just getting basic fades because I couldn’t style my hair. New sub, because I love the old school style.
I had long and thick curly hair and recently shaved it all off. I left just enough of a fringe to style. I hate having to blow dry, use an iron etc. I bought some Murray's and this video is exactly what I was looking for! Let me tell you, life is much easier with short hair.
I agree. Just used that pomade today for my normal look. I mainly applied it on the top layer of my hair and it instantly got rid of my splits. That's great technique to use when applying pomade to hair.
Bought a can today because as I'm hitting 44 my hair needs more moisture & scalp psoriasis isn't helping as well. I'm hoping the pomade adds some scalp moisture too. Haven't used pomade since my teens.
Awesome vid. Murray's is some thick ass pomade. (edit) Just finished the vid, I stock up on Murray's too. Last time I went I bought out the entire stock on the shelf lol.. lasts a long time.
i love murrays, only problem is i got thick straighter hair, so i can only try to get the volume you do, i gotta comb STRAIGHT UP and sweep it over to even compare.
Elvis had straight hair too. With straight hair, you don't need much Murray's. You may wanna try a lighter Murray's pomade. Look for Murray's cocosoft coconut oil or Black and White genuine Pluko hair dressing pomade
@@modernvintagelifestyles hey. thanks for the tip, and i don't use that much murrays, i just kinda get a dab, think brylcreem almost. i really like the look of murrays, cause i actually get a real good shine with it.
Suavecito is water based, might not last all day but easier to wash. The original pomades were oil/petrolatum based, will last most of the day but more difficult to remove from hair. It can collect slowly on hair, so if you use it everyday you'll use less as the days go by. You'll need a really good wash (shampoo with sulfates are ok in this case) to completely remove it from your hair. And from personal experience, don't run your hands through your hair bc it will get on your scalp - gets itchy and smelly.
Sir... is your hair (slightly) longer on the top front section of your head? I'm trying to figure out your haircut... to see if it is a "pompadour" haircut. Thanks.
@@modernvintagelifestyles so any tips on how to keep my hair relaxed when i apply the murrays, i wet it like you said too, but after i apply the murrays it stays pointy straight, my hair is about as long as yours but the hair just clumps together unlike when i use the super light version
@@xxxAaronxxxable are you using just a finger dab? Are you also applying after you come out of the shower? Your hair needs to be completely damp for it to not clump together.
I mix 2 different pomades. A scoop of murrays superior hold. 2 fingertips of royal crown and it gives it awesome medium hold high shine essence. Nu nile is also awesome
Same combo as Elvis ! Murray's for the hold, Royal crown for the shine. I personally mix Murray's superior with Brylcreem, the smell is so much better, shine is awesome and Murray's washes out so easily when mixed with Brylcreem.
Murray's does have lighter-holding pomade which is not effective on straightening curly hair. If you visit the Murray's pomade website, you can get a description of all their pomades. Personally, the original hold is what I stick to.
@@modernvintagelifestyles ok nice , i have straight hair and would it be ok when i come out of the shower and comb my hair back with a wide brush first , because a lot say the hair is weaker when its wet and then apply murrays and make my part with the normal comb, pls countine the pomade series
I've heard that too. It hasn't happened to me because of the way I apply it. I only apply it to the top of my hair and not all the way down by the pores. I've been using it daily for over 20 years now
@@TheThunderWeasel yes, I use 2 pumps of head and shoulders every morning , and it removes about 90% of it. I then reapply it to my hair before I comb my hair.
Hey there. Applying it to the top of the hair makes sure it doesnt get a large amount of pomade on your scalp. The point is to get it in your hair. Putting it on top and using a comb allows the comb to spread it evenly to your hair.
Contradiction on the part where you say not to get it in between hair . As most other videos I’ve ever seen they get the product nice and inbetween the hair , roots, all over Is this a preference only? Does it alter the effect of the product? Is it dependent on product? Help pls, I have curly hair and it’s medium length now I need right product to keep it professional slick the whole day at office. Trying to grow my rocker hair back lol. Any advice is helpful thanks , I got curly-wavy hair.
Hi, please let me know where the contradiction takes place? Also, the reason I place it on top of my hair is so that I don't place it directly on the roots. There's no need to have the pomade on the roots. As long as you have the pomade above the roots, the curly hair will be controlled by the pomade. The comb will distribute the pomade to the rest of the hair as you comb it. Using a finger dab is enough as Murray's is a thick pomade. If you were to apply more pomade and then use the method of distributing it with the comb, im sure you'd get the pomade all the way down to the roots. The more pomade you use, the thicker and more manageable your curly hair will be. The key is to apply it to semi wet hair. Damp may not be wet enough.
@@modernvintagelifestyles hi thanks for reply and info, currently i'm using MADLAB Clay. will that work too? requires semi wet hair? cuz most of the feeedback i see is to use on dry hair.
@@Desh727 not anymore, especially since I've started using Murray's. Also keep in mind that once you apply Murray's, it doesn't come off with one wash. So in this video, I still had some murrays on my hair from the precious day. I'd say about 90% gets washed off with one good scrub using Head and Shoulders shampoo.

Thanks for the tutorial
My pleasure.
If you want to take it completely use baby oil like if was shampoo when you shower and colm it. It will come right out.
i use the union strong hold one of the strongest pomade i have super wavy hair like yours an it just pulls it straight
