I completely forgot about the demon doorways that you would hunt around level 25 and kill the miniboss inside for their animal head helmet like Amdusias, they were like the pre-zak helm for everyone
Wow, me too. I remember when that was the hot new shit lol, a ton of people played back then. I loved the reference they put into ms2 (rip mushroom game 2).

That super long orbis quest with Alcaster was actually a kickass way of making money since you could buy a lot of rocks and allcures to sell at your FM spot for a LOT more since people used a TON of rocks and allcures back then.
Hindsight, MS did NOT respect player’s time investment LOL For some reason, this was such a fun game. Even if it’s design decisions were absolutely terrible.
Yea strong was part of the goal, but nvr the end goal, hence Explorer You gain the skills and techniques, but you don't become some isekai protagonist that instant OP and you enjoy the ride for the adventure to just explore And even quests had good incentives, both side stories, and world lore and even learning about mobs, and encourage just enjoying your time around the world, even your money to conveniently travel is expensive so you should consider how you spend
Immediately after big bang between like the 6th and 8th anniversary were the golden age of maple and you can't convince me otherwise. You couldn't get to 200 in a day, but it also didn't take forever. 1 - 30 in day was feasible, and you could get to 70 within a week. I miss those days so much. I still remember how hype I was for Mechanic to come out, and how freaked out I was that I had to get to level 40 if I didn't wanna get kicked out of the guild I was in
Ahhh, thank you for this painful nostalgia trip! Arwen and her damn shoe was so burnt into my mind that I'd forgotten about the Icarus and the Book of Ancient quests! So long!!! Such low drop rates! The paaaaaain! As a recently returned Mapler I was shocked at how much shorter and easier the Book of Ancient quest is now. Great video really though, love reliving the (sometimes painful) nostalgia of old school Maple!
Nothing here seemed “useless”. Old MS was just about doing counter-productive quests for vanity items and messing about, meeting new people. There was no real “goal”, it was quest to quest, job to job, boss to boss, for no reason, no hurry, you’d grind for days for a silly hat, and then want a silly belt. It was that magic that made it bare-able and even enjoyable. Sometimes you need to walk slow, to enjoy the scenery I guess.
6:40 so that wasn't the only lunar drop quest. Back when cyg knights capped at 120, after getting them to 120 and finishing empress might quest, you could do the ultimate adventurer quest, which required this. After which, you could make an ultimate adventurer which started at lvl 10 (I think, could've been higher), could equip 10 levels over it and you got the corresponding cyg night skill and summon in beginner tab. The one on server now is not the original one where you needed lvl 120 cyg RIP Wind Archer transformation (the only reason I made WA, and that it was my first "max level" char)
If I remember correctly you also had an option of paying 10 million mesos (a freaking lot at the time) for chief tatamo and he would give you the items from mano and griffey. Then you had to buy the mastery books which were also random drops and costed a fortune AND didn't work 100% of the time. I remember I spent my entire savings trying to get maple warrior 20 (failed 5 times even though it was 70% success) and the following week maple warrior 30 was announced and thus mw 20 prices plummeted, I was so pissed I ended up quitting.
My father did the Icarus quest with 3 different characters and got the right ones for 2 of them hahahaha. (he did all these quests , he was quite a hardcore player back in the day, along with my uncle).
I love your videos bro, i've followed you since OG maple in like 05 or something and even know i only play PS every so often ( OG MS) but i come back just to see how this game was. Nothing will beat the MAGIC of OG maple, not the gameplay, the community and connections built, the game was alive and it was like a real Isekai.... Now not so much from what i hear.
I remember farming Drumming Bunnies in Ludi for the dark crystals peices, my DK got it at Lv69 (also dropped Serpents Tongue) my I/L mage however needed til Lv75 for all the pieces to drop >> Think it was the only mob that dropped Flame Whip consistently .
I remember having so much pride the first time I earned Saint Exorcist medal in old maple. Every prerequisite medal was such a grind especially being unfunded. I was a FP mage so I used poison brace to DOT the monsters WAY above my level (looking at you death teddies)… and back then killing mushmoms was insane because of the competition. I did all four of those quests in literally a day that other week but it took me around a month in old maple lmao.
Cheap nlc potions and wolf spiders dropping fat stacks and ilbis probably overshadowed them. I remember having a hoard of elixirs I was going to sell around the time nlc came out, they were hovering around 10k. They became worthless literally overnight. Oh and they pissed all over the entire dragon knight community with 12 attack potions.
ohh wow XD i remember all of these so much nostalgia overload XD Perhaps for the next nostalgia vid, do oldschool party quests? i remember spending so much time doing those back in the day

The time when everyone hated the jumpquests but they were full of ppl doing them. Full markets, full towns, lpq was away from the town but still many ppl for playing together...i would come back too.
Jump quests were bad because you spend a thousand hours playing your character getting so used to it's speed/jump and then when you go into a jump quest suddenly it's like you're on Maple Island again.
I just learned you only have 70k subs, which surprises me since I always end up on your channel when I search for anything Maple. YT, GET THIS MAN MOAR SUBS!
I remember all of these like I was agonizing over them yesterday, lol! I was playing a different account back then, and was ridiculously underpowered, because I'd never played an mmo (although I had a lot of experience with single-player consoles), so I didn't know each class had a specific stat. So, all of these took me even longer! 😅
ANY of the NLC quests in that long chain just for a Nocturnal staff and The Warrior's Throne chair, i remember spending 2-3 days hunting for the drops on any character i made and even buying 2x drop and exp cards but not gonna lie it was a nice chair.
Another video i would like to see is "events" all events that have been through the years. Or your favorite like top 10 events. I remember one of my favorite being the first ever alien invasion. Damn was so cool controlling the robots and killing aliens and getting those weapons! 🤤

Oh man ive remember the day so well i set out to get the empress might skill so i could equip my lvl 80 gear my friend gave me. So freshly lvl 70 ive had a week off and was in full grinding mode. Well in the end my char was 80 and i still hadnt enough to hand in the quest it still hurts thinking about it.
Man, im kind of sad you didnt mention the chief stan hat questline. A decent lvl35 hat but you have to travel between victory island, orbis and ludi multiple times. It took you a day worth of traveling between places, and only if you had every item you needed before starting the quest.
I've been playing MapleStory since 3rd Jobs were the hottest news and I'm only now learning that the Glass Shoe quest was actually possible. Although, if I remember correctly, the quest didn't specify Fire Boars as the enemy but instead said something like "fiery enemies in Perion" and, after not getting anything from Fire Boars, I decided that the quest MUST have meant Fire Drakes (which were in Perion at the time). Had a random level 70+ not come and power leveled me to 30 and given me 200k Mesos, I probably would have quit the game there and then. Now I play it on and off.
4:03 that quest was no joke. To bad the jump quests were not mention or the dreadful quest to go down ludibrum tower , to the alien area, then go to the aquarium, back up the tower and travel to the nath. Is a long quest but dont remember specific details.
Ohh my god! The ones that popped to my mind and all of them where featured in this video. The empress might.. i did that on my spearman back in the day. I might give it a try if the cygnus skill one still exists and complete that out of boredom.
Man I remember that Cygnus skill quest. I really spent so much time doing it. Could of been grinding but nah, I wanted to know what I got for the quest
I always hated the quest in NLC where you have to kill those gryphons. Flying enemies on a huge map with like 10 spawning at a time was not fun. Especially since you needed to use teleporters to move around the map and could fall in a hole which teleported you a few maps back.
Dude those were the best days I remember everyone thought I was a god in CPQ and kerning PQ because I had 12 att WG and used ilbies with Luk robe This game felt like an adventure I remember going through the dungeon with a few friends from school when we were all new to game maybe level 20-30 each and we died to the drakes
I’ll never forget that glass slipper quest ! After finding one for myself; I went back to grind for more well.. after about 1 week I got another glass slipper, sold that bad boy for 400k mesos... felt super rich $$$$
on windia, I was at the map the left of perion where there are fireboars at the bottom. i've seen someone kill a fireboar and it dropped the glass shoe. i asked if that was it, and they've confirmed. then i asked them how much was it worth? they went back to town and checked, it was 5,000 mesos through npc. i didn't realize how rare of a drop rate it was, and man was i ever cheap! when they traded me the item i put in 5050 in the trade... for that measily amount of their troubles, they've accepted. nice person!
Levelling Marksman has and still is in some ways one of the most painful things ever. I don't miss being stuck with iron arrow, the old piercing arrow and strafe
lol tbh when i started maple for the very first time, i thought it was fun to level by completing quests and killing mobs 2 for 1. But once i got trolled by those stupid low ass drop rate quests and jump quests, i said screw it and just went training instead. i remember it was such a hard OCD switch to have a bunch of uncompleted quests in your q menu but i got over it lol

I have a small correction or maybe I should say clarification. You didn't automatically lose skill points if you leveled past 70 before 3rd job came out. The problem was that some ppl spent points they earned from level 71 and up on 2nd job skills to max everything and whatever they spent after 71 was lost. If you didn't spend any points after 70 you would not lose anything.
Surprisingly the glass shoe quest is actually quite easy for me, I only did like 30 min and I got it, and IIRC I actually got another one while running back just killing monsters on the way.

Icarus and 3rd kob advnce were the two I finished.I must say icarus quest required a lot of work but really fub back then... got the chance to go around and met people
Yup. HiddenStreet was my best friend because I wanted to complete ALL the (old school) quests. I always looked up all the stuff you needed to hunt before accepting the quest. For some reason the drops seemed to drop quicker when you weren't actually looking. Also if your inventory was full. And then you dc'ed and had to start over. T_T But my character was pretty lucky. She got the +10 Speed Icarus Cape from that jerk Icarus. Fun times! Then MS revamped the questlines and classes so many times my quest log got purged and bye-bye quest medal! Bye-bye Mushroom Game!
Honestly though, Alcaster made me a lot of money buying stones and then selling in FM, so it was definitely worth it for me xD Plus unlimited stones for my NL and Priest ^^

There are so many other horrendous quests back then, but I guess that what made the game fun & challenging T_T
No need to complicated things.. The zak prequest is already a hell lol.. and that jump quest ughh
I did both arwen and icarus quest because I was mage and Gladius was the only sword I could equip (if i remember correctly).
No regrets.
Surprised people dont bring up the Icarus cape and the rng that surrounded it more. For warriors at the time, it was a godsend.
forgot old questline to unlock balanced furies... not to mention the grind for all the items you needed to craft them...
I’m so lucky that I didn’t play maple back then
Tbh u r unlucky
Also the chair quest in NLC was annoying iirc
I did the old temple of time quests and the old Alacaster quests on my Aran =)
Aside from the skill related quests I had finished all of the other quests in the list.
But my character was pretty lucky. She got the +10 Speed Icarus Cape from that jerk Icarus.
Fun times!
Then MS revamped the questlines and classes so many times my quest log got purged and bye-bye quest medal! Bye-bye Mushroom Game!
The 4th job without guidance was annoying as hell.
i remember spending a few months to hunt the quest item for neo tokyo boss nibelung.....
I choked out my dog after hours failing at Zak jump quest the first time round.
I gave up on Arwen's quest. Also, all jump quests are a pain.
Honestly though, Alcaster made me a lot of money buying stones and then selling in FM, so it was definitely worth it for me xD Plus unlimited stones for my NL and Priest ^^
i fcking remember the 3rd job advancement shit and died because it was cold there lol
