    It doesn`t matter what fighter aircraft you get to fly, as long as you get to fly one on the regular bases in your contry`s military. You will be doing something that MOST!!! RUclips experts will never do in their whole lives! I sure miss it.

    Something that the Russians have going for them is they have very good passive sensor technology. Since signal strength diminishes with the square of the distance, passive sensors are able to see farther for any given signal strength. They pit some recently East German MiG 29s against F15s and got a similar result from the Raptor test. The superior passive sensors were able to aquire targets faster without revealign the location of the MiG 29s.

    I just love the way the Russians display their aircraft - if only they would travel to the overseas shows....

    yes, they designed a 3d vectored thrust system to do barn storming :/ I think you're missing the point. It has many other excellent features, advanced maneoverability being one of them. Another great feature is that these engines can tolerate such terrible airflow. This is not a common feature.

    In the end, what makes the USAF win fights is not always the top technology (though that ussually helps), it's tactics and training.

    Actually, it is very tough to compare fighter aircrafts, the best way to do it would be a pilots exchange program between Russian Sukhoi pilots and American F-22 pilots .

    Well, pretty much. It was designed to get export orders from India, etc, and looking awesome at airshows probably helps that goal an assload.

    2 things. 1. Link to some legit site about the F-15 shoot-down (I really wouldn't doubt it too much, the Israelis are pretty secretive about these sort of things) 2. You look at performance figures and make a judgement on an aircraft; widen what you look at. The things that makes the F-22 impressive are mainly electronics (mainly radar), the fact that it is difficult to detect on radar (the only one out there so far)

    Finally, the deal with the P-3 getting rammed in the sea of Japan. The US did not find a need to start WWIII over one aircraft.

    The F-16 Block 60 definitely has better avionics, too. Su-35 is a big plane, making it pretty easily identified visually. F-16s beat F-15s in combat manuevers and dogfights held over Rammstein AFB because of their small profile

    Russia has some nice equipment, that's for sure. In fact, I believe top-of-the-line Russian aircraft (namely the Su-35/37) are better at fights within 10 miles. Also their newest AAMs are superior to ours (namely the AA-11 and AA-12 vs the AIM-9 and AIM-120).

    You contridicted your self. You said that until it opens its door to fire, it is invisible to radar but for it to shoot from far away it has to open its door so it becomes appearent on radar and gives other pilots to engage it. So in other words when it fires from far away it is visible on radar and the other pilot could shoot it down as well.

    nowuknows, when did a MiG-21 pilot get so lucky? Last time I checked, F-15s had a 100+ air-to-air kills with no air-to-air losses. And also when did a F-117 get shot down by a Russian missile? I knew one or two got shot down in Iraq by AAA, but I never heard of a missile.

    Continued:
    And back the point with the Su-27M (Su-35), it was announced the best fighter in the world at the millenium change, by pilots and spotters all over the world. Yes it lacks stealth capabilties. But if a plane like the Raptor doesnt use the element of suprise, a good russian pilot could down it, due to the fact that the Super Flanker is a more maneuverable plane at almost any altitudes and speeds.

  • @nowuknows
    @nowuknows 18 лет назад

    Craptors designers can only wish to have maneuverability like this. First they say maneuverability is obsolete then they steal a mig learn a few things and build a jet. The Craptor is the first US made fighter to reach ss speeds without afterburners Migs were doing that in the late 70s early 80s. Russian planes rule, Syrian Mig21s shot an F15 above Syria, and an f117 was also brought down by Russian LRMs, and it was said to have better stealth capabilities then the f22, so suck it!

    When I said AOA is not used, I misdirected my line of thought. I did not mean that, i meant that HIGH AOA is not useful, you lose speed, making it easy for an infra red missile lock and fire (they have very large detection envelopes nowadays as well as thrust vectoring).

    Air warfare is about energy management and target aquisition. I don't know why there is a focus on enhanced maneoverability like this in anyone's airforce. These aircraft are able to pretty much destroy themselves in mid air, not to mention kill their pilots, on maneoverability alone. Any maneover like this in combat would bleed all of your energy and make you a sitting duck. This goes for this aircraft and the Raptor aswell.

  • @Rehunauris

    The f-16 is just as manueverable, even though the su-35 can do the pugachev cobra, which is not practical, you switch to guns. Advantage are angle of attack and stall angles. That's rarely ever used in combat manuevers. The F-16 is cheaper,you can have almost 2:1 against the Su-35.

    However, the numbers of these high-tech aircraft is small and training is no where close to what it is in the US. Also, American aircraft tend to be better in BVR fights (as has been proven by numerous training fights in Germany).

  • @nowuknows
    @nowuknows 17 лет назад

    To those who think stealth is all there is, & this is going to disappoint many of you. A Russian Physicist came up with it, however Soviet Union turned it down because its easily detected given the right tools and the aircraft are not stable given the shape (F117) he now teaches advanced physics in US where he sold the idea. There is also a book written by him on the topic ill do my best to find it.

    The Su-35 is a decent aircraft and one of the best in the world, but the F-16 would eat this thing alive and it has no chance against the F-22 nor the F-23, which was just far to expensive to put into production.

  • @JZ909
    @JZ909 17 лет назад

    I wouldn't call all of that stuff "worthless". Su-25s are still, at least, equals with A-10s, Mi-24s aren't much worse than Blackhawks (in some ways they're better). And where did you get the numbers on those things? I've been hunting for that for a while but haven't been able to find it.

    a mig-31 can not just detect it, but fry its sensors with its 500kW radar. i heard it can kill wildlife along the runway. cutting the RCS by a factor of 100 only drops the reflection by .. well, -20dB.

    What would be the purpose of the american jet having vectored thrust, then? There's a debate raging that they shouldn't give other countries a leg up by selling them the advanced fighters!

  • @nowuknows
    @nowuknows 17 лет назад

    Also sense someone mentioned Russia and its "junkyard" they are sadly mistaking. The truth is Russia had an oversized military in terms of equipment surplus, so a legitimate thing to do is to sell old outdated equipment and make money. Furthermore, neither Russia or US will sell their technology unless there is something far more superior in their possession. Russia just put out 3 yes Three new nuclear subs dew this year and 08 and a few more on the way, proof that they r quite capable.

    F22 is the first US made jet that can do the bell half assed, Russian Migs & Su's were doing that plus more in the early 80s. F22 is also the 1st US made jet that can reach ss flight w/out afterburners 4 maybe a minute the so called "super-cruise" Mirage 3 Mig29 and the Sukoy family can reach ss flight w/out afterburners plus sustain it for as long as needed. Lockheed & Boing r feeding shit to the air force at prime prices & the AF is asking 4 secs. Sad, pathetic, heavy, overpriced=F22

    SU-35 is shit, its not even in front line service yet. The US tested 1 F-22 against 3 SU-27s and the F-22 won, becuase the 27's never detected it. Same radar on the 35 and 37 thats on the 27's. None of the newer sukhois even have combat experience. The US planes traditionally have dominated their soviet/russian counterparts. Look at Kosovo and the Gulf Wars. The 35s and 37s are huge taegets and can be picked up by even passive radar 100 miles away. No stealth=easy target.
