Our family moved to Rugeley in 1954 from Northumberland ,like a lot of miners did back then as there were more employment prospects for family members in the area.My dad first worked at Brereton colliery and when that was closed moved to Lea hall where he was a deputy.After I came out the RAF in 1968 I worked in the power station ,"B "station that is!after my time in the power industry I moved to Zambia and worked on the Copper mines in a power plant there .Dad retired due to ill health and died in 1997.
Very moving. I am proud of my mining past. We were the best, all of us.
