Another cringe "best in the world" statement.
Are Australians that afraid of criticism?
Who's afraid to wear Australian colours?
Which colours? The red white blue?
      The green or gold?
      Since when?
I'd say it's possible to find someone that says up is down. So what?
There's a controversy about the particular day or particular reasons.
As quoted "like every country in the world", Australia has its issues but sky news is in extreme denial over a controversy which is supported by a vocal, racist, intolerant minority.
      Deal with it.

If only those stories were being told today to the men who had passed the manhood rites we wouldn't have all this garbage going on. Oh that's right they no longer do the rites of passage in the Aboriginal communities because a woman complained it hurt them. So no Aboriginal today is an adult according to their own culture and we are letting children tell our elected government what to do? How screwed have we become.

We're not shaming ANYONE, you dumb farques. It's about the date - the 26th of January - which has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the birth of a nation (which occurred on the first of January, 1901). The 26th of January marks the establishment of a penal colony called NEW SOUTH WALES, and there's certainly nothing to celebrate in that shameful event - especially since many of the unfortunates sent from the mother country were little more than pauper children transported for 'crimes' such as stealing bread, and some of whom had seen their death sentences commuted to transportation for life. The name 'Australia' wasn't even thought of at that time. How about you ignorant, inbred wowsers all go and read some history books before you get up on your soap boxes again.

it doesn't matter if the date changes, a large portion of the people protesting the date would never celebrate Australia no matter what day it falls on, they will keep moving the goalposts, that's how these activist types work. that's why you cant give them an inch, its less about the day itself than it is about not ceding ground to a very loud and ungrateful minority of people.

Its best to respect the sacred places and traditions of those who were here before us but those living in Australia today should not be blamed and shamed for what happened in the past. My family did not invade and I am the third generation of my family to be born in Australia and all three of those generations served in the defence of this country. I have members of my family that have Aboriginal heritage though they feel SHAME because of the protests against their country and nation! If Australia is to survive as a single nation then either we have a proper civil war, (count me in), or the ABC and SBS need to have their funding removed and they should be abolished because as a supposed national broadcaster they push an anti-Australian agenda and for those who doubt it simply watch the ABC and record the amount time spent broadcasting the "Always was, always will be" and 60 thousand year cultural history of the Aboriginal people. In the past they have even publicised the writings of FALSE and self declared Aboriginal historians pushing such false narratives as self governance and even agricultural establishments such as farms. Many of the vast majority of Australians believe in tolerance and peace but the time for that pacifist BS is coming to an end. Personally I do not respond well to being threatened. As for the Aboriginal 60 thousand culture and its great effect upon the planet, they invented a bent stick that returns when thrown in the same time my European culture developed sailing warships and firearms along with structured agriculture, medical science, legal systems and written communication. Nothing of Aboriginal culture was written down and recorded in detail until the arrival of the Europeans. Question, I thought that Batman bought the land for Melbourne from the local inhabitants and so that means Melburnians are not invaders???

Well said, Erin, It's also a shame that there are not enough people showing interest in 'liking' what was just said. Are the 3000+ viewing this Fox News statement hiding? I thought Australians stood up for this nation's heritage. Eleanor Roosevelt was right when she said, "Do what you feel is right, for you will be criticised anyway." Also, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." (for those who don't know she was. Elanore was married to Franklin D Roosevelt, president of the United States, from 1933 to 1945.) The flag needed to be flown today. Due to the lack of respect... it is not just a piece of material, it is who we are. Australians of the past would never let this insult to our nation be a thing.

I am a very proud 3rd Gen Anglo Saxon ( my great grandfather coming to Australia in the late 1800,s at the age of 14 ) and I carry no guilt or shame at all about that and I have no real concerns about what others think or feel for I have personally done nothing wrong to them in my 57 years and no matter what the future holds , I will always celebrate Australia Day on the 26th of January for the rest of my life no matter what others may think or feel for if we did not make Australia the great country it is now , some other countries may not / would not have and made life for others even worse , aka like China for example , think about that for if they did , you would not be debating / protesting this day or receive all the benefits you get now so get over it for you can,t change the past or try to shame others in this day and age and make them feel guilty for past wrongs of the English , Governments and Churches .

@@allaboutyeshua2606 , maybe it,s time for the indigenous minorities and there white supporters to stop playing the " Victim Card " , the past is the past for better or worse and nothing can ever change that no matter how much you all protest it , we are all Australians now , including all past , present and future migrants that have and will call Australia home whether the minorities in Australia like it or not and the more the minorities protest and vandalise property / monuments in protest and continue to blame and try to shame the majority for the past will only divide us even more and you will only have yourselves to blame when the majority of Australians ( including Indigenous Australians ) ignore anything you have to say and stop supporting your needs which seem to be many . You want to blame us all for the past deeds of the English , Australian Governments and Churches that treated the indigenous badly that the majority in this day and age had nothing to do with and as I have already mentioned , I have not done nothing to harm ( as well as the majority of Australians ) any indigenous Australians in any way and have nothing to be sorry whether you like it or not .

The people that are shamed into NOT doing what they want to on Australia whether it be celebrating this country, flying the flag or just having a beer and doing what they please are part of the problem every Australian needs to stand up to the woke brigade if they love this country. Remember some of the Aussie culture things like Blue Hills, Dad an Dave, The black Stump. True Blue, Aussie, Aussie Aussie, the word Mate , Bloke, there are hundreds we should never loose. Above all the Aussies that fought and gave their life for this country in two world wars should never be forgotten and for ever celebrated. With my wife I went to Latrobe today and had a lovely day unlike the woke and idiots that had an invasion day march through the city completely beyond me what make these idiots tick, complete waste of space.
