    what happens if the master file is saved in shared drive and people open it simultaneously? even if someone open a subproject in the same time of a MASTER file is open with other person?

      One or both may save as a conflicted file. Good to limit access to your working file and post a file for people that you don’t want making changes to.

    How do you link tasks between projects? Do you make the links within the Master Project or between the sub-projects? Once you've made the links between projects do each of the sub-projects within the Master Project retain their own Critical Path? Or does the Master Project take on a Critical Path of its own?

    Thank you so much for your helpful videos.
    By the way it is possible in master project file to set project start date for each sub project.
    Double click on the sub project name and there is "Project Information".

      Yes each sub project has its own file so you can change the start date and they are linked to each other.

    Hi Tom, very nice tutorial videos you have prepared. Its very useful.
    I have 4 queries.
    1. Can we prepare one single project file as master file & resource file?
    2. In any of the abpve case when I share resource in subproject, following error message appears while saving & it cant be saved. "There is a problem with the calendar name. Tf he colendar name does not exist. Click a calendar in the list. & press enter."
    What could be the reason?
    3. In master file, in project tab, in change working time, For calender all calendeds with all projects appear. Is it normal? Or any problem?
    4. When I share resource pool file, in all project files on above path list of calenders with resource name appears. Is it normal? Or any problem

      Hi Devendra, I have not had that particular problem with saving. To question 1 you should be able to. I would though keep my resource pool file separate as I think it causes less confusion. For point 2 I’m not sure. For point 3 that’s okay that all the calendars appear. Point 4 I think is okay but hard to say without seeing it. Hope that helps a little

    Hi Tom, is it possible to add %complete of each project on the Gantt chart? I add it but the number is wrong!!!

    • @TomStephensontraining
      @TomStephensontraining  2 года назад

      It should show on the project summary task in the tracking view or any view if you add the column Dena. Not sure why it does not work for you, make sure everything is indented under the project summary if you created it.

    Sir, may i know how to arrange the file project? Because i learn from you the arrangement of file from track progres, then create recovery file, then create change order. So, how i want to arrange in master file? Should i arrange like that or i need to insert latest file everytime i want to open master project? Or is there any better ways if i track, revision, or do CO in all project at master file?

    • @TomStephensontraining
      @TomStephensontraining  Месяц назад

      Yes you should have whatever the current file is in the master project file that is the downside of the master project file

    Perhaps a naive question. Start and end dates can be linked within subprojects

      Try it Luis to experiment and see how it behaves. Rename the files and experiment on them that way of you don’t like the result it does not matter. I hope that helps

    Thank you for your very informative vids. Question: Do you know why one of my sub projects has a different (often less) total project time in the master project, than that listed within the individual project file? Very frustrating!!

    • @TomStephensontraining
      @TomStephensontraining  2 года назад

      Hmm hard to say without seeing it. Is one of the sub projects indented under another task or project

    Thanks for the tutorial. Is this considered program management?

    • @TomStephensontraining
      @TomStephensontraining  2 года назад +1

      Yes definitely can be used in this regard. Can help to maximize use of resources and optimize your group of running projects. PMI is a good source for these definitions project, programme, portfolio

    Can I add dependencies between Project 1 and Project 2 in the Master project?

    • @TomStephensontraining
      @TomStephensontraining  2 года назад +1

      Try it, sometimes it is worth just checking how it behaves. Create a ghost copy if you are concerned.

    • @alirezaasefi2650

      I believe it is under the ms project made easy playlist. Look for resource pool in the title. Let me know if you don’t see it
