You have to remember that, in 1936, plastic was a novel and somewhat upscale material. I will never forget the ad for the 1940 Ford "with new, luxurious plastic dashboard".
When I was about 15 yrs old I took art lessons and my sister took piano lessons from an older couple in Washington DC. On the wall where I had lessons was a huge collection of salt and pepper shakers. Every time I see an old set that memory comes back!
My grandmother collected salt and pepper shakers. Everyone gave her sets. She had shelves in every room. I so many familiar ones whenever I go thrifting.
When you held up the 60s TV set S&P, I blurted out, "Oh my gosh!" I am 67 and thrifted that exact set at the Salvation Army when I was in elementary school - my Barbie dolls loved watching their favorite shows on it, LOL. I missed your live sale last night so didn't see it then. The legs on mine never broke either and I passed it on to my girls during their Barbie days.
The one set of salt and pepper shakers, the elusive Fox Bear creature, very rare, very dangerous!!! And u have that creature recreated in salt and pepper shakers!!! Wow!!! 💞💞🙃💞💞
Loved all the salt and pepper shakers especially the Siamese kitties. Craft stores sell inexpensive assorted rhinestone bags in different sizes and shapes. Very easy to hot glue to replace missing stones. Thanks for sharing. 🤗
Scott my first comment. I have been a follower and huge fan for a few years. I think you are so knowledgeable and you have taught me so much. My mother had the TV and I remember playing with it. I loved the ruby red and I have never bid before but maybe this will be my first time😊 I love your Christmas collections and I too collect vintage Christmas.
Unfortunately my favorite were the first set of Siamese cats that already sold. They sold at Monday night sale that I'm still upset about because my power went out at 5:30p during that storm you mentioned. The power didn't come back on until 6 am!! I missed the whole sale 😭😭
The musical notes, coffee pots and fish were my favorites of the whole lot. Like you, it blew my mind that those fish shakers hadn't any dings, scratches or chips on them. Kudos to its previous owners for taking extra special care of them.
Scott! If there is no footage of you standing in the back of your truck singing proudly and protectively over your new stove, in your hi-vis shirt - well - I demand you film a re-enactment 😆
In the 60s I was the remote...also there wasn't a whole lot of choices. Yet we all survived. I have quite a s&p collection....omg those Scotties are so cute!!! The copper owls are great! They would make a couple of my sisters very happy!! The whole video is full of fun!!!❣️
When we vacationed by car, traveling down the twisting and turning two lane roads, we just couldn’ pass up staying the night at the Wigwam Village motel. Of course, the gift shop sold ice cold soda pop and teepee S&P shakers. Now, who in their right mind didn’t want to commemorate that vacation with touristy things. Car sickness, I’ve got to pee again, and are we there yet? Aunt Mabel wanted S&P shakers from all our travels. Uncle Willard wanted big letter postcards from all the 50 states in that new glossy polychrome format. Memory lane and that cute little wooden dog house sign for my cousins. They were the ones always in trouble. Not me. I never had to sleep in an old dog house. LOL. Oh I forgot, we got some cool things at ‘Reptile World’.
I would love the.Milkglass cups in all the colors!! Wow!! Would be awesome! I found a Jadeite green set of cups , so pretty! But they were at auktion and went upp in price so I did't got them!😢😢. Well that's life.😊
hello Scott, were still hot in Houston hope your stove is working great. Let's see what you got see u on live sale..when will it be Thanks be well safe and may God bless USA.
I don't know which salt and pepper set I love best! They are amazing! Thank you for picking them up! My Grandmother collected them, but I don't know where they all went after she passed away. Your "bear" set reminds me of wolves who ate three little pigs. (hehehe)🤣 Thank you for the fun time!😊
That was a nice show and tell. I have the Santa faces that hang over the shelf. Most of my S & P collection is fanciful birds or various seasonal sets. Meanwhile we had a huge downpour this morning and my sump pump couldn’t handle the volume of rain. It was 2” deep in the basement; then all drained away. Ugh 😩
That was fun, and you know I love the Scottie terrier shakers the most! The green Richter duel shaker is very unique, glad you're keeping it! Overall, a very nice lot and thanks for sharing!
@@richtreehugger We missed you too, Melody! I nearly lost my power a few times, thankfully it only flickered but stayed on! Hopefully we'll see you at the next Live Sale. Take care! ❤
I liked the scottie dogs with toothpick holder dog, the tricycle, the airco shakers color is pretty. Those coffee pots are so unique as is the Richter.
Love the coffee cup history you always share, Scott! Today, of course, being Hazel Atlas, and one of my all-time favorites, made me smile! Those always remind me of Pyrex Delphite, too - sort of a milk glass nod if you will. Great video!
Amazing to see how a s&p shaker is designed/engineered. Would you please tell us the website you use to find patent info? Many thanks! And thanks especially for all you do to save old treasures and their histories.

The t.v., the 1950s ponytail ladies, the dachshund in the dog house, actually all of them. Can I make an offer on all of them right now? 😂

While not rare or kitschy, my favorite shakers are the copper owls!
The music note shaker with the missing back - it might be possible to get a new back 3D printed, using the extant back a as a blueprint.
