Thank you what an absolute treat this vlog was, the train ride looked lovely.you both must have gone through all the emotions possible on that day.i would have been to scared to be on the aqueduct in that wind.I breathed such a sigh of relief when the tree was moved so that you could get underway again. Wow what a day that was . xx
Sorry for the late reply Irene. Your comment got held for review for some reason 🤷♂️. The train ride was brilliant. Felt very festive. We were really crest fallen when we didn’t think we would get passed that tree, especially as we needed to get the boat back for all the upgrades. The aqueduct was quite scary in that wind. Paul hated it 😂. Hope you have a lovely week ❤️
Wow that's a vlog and a half !!. Glad all was fine in the end. Some people restore the faith in human beings. . . hats off to them. Loved the steam train too. Hope you guys are well and enjoy the rest of your week.
Hey Mark. It really was quite the day. Agree, re the restoring faith in human nature. The kindness of strangers and fellow boaters never ceases to amaze me. Absolutely loved the steam train ride. Felt very festive. We are all good thank you. Hope you are too. Have a fab week ❤️
With you there Paul, very high and very scary with that wind. I think we’d have MAYBE three steam trains still running in Australia. Such and exciting vlog so much going on. I take it this was before Dex gave us all a scare, I so hope he’s much better now, thankfully Dani is better, I think they enjoy worrying us. You’ll be going to get where you need to be guys. Exciting vlog. Take care and love to Dex. 💕
Hey Pauline. Yeah, Paul hates heights. We have been to Kuranda railway station. Absolutely stunning. Dexter gave us a scare too. We really thought we were loosing him the other night. Glad Danni is better too. Glad we made it for the work to be carried out. Have a lovely week ❤️
Paul, I felt your pain and terror going over the aqueduct. I also have a severe fear of heights. So much so that a few years ago we went to a nascar race here in the US. We went early to find our seats and the vertical arrangements of the seat sections was terrifying. So much so that 2 friends Had to help me get down. Laughing at me all the while. So, to Anthony, Pauls fear is very much real . Don't dismiss it or laugh. He needs you most just then. Love you both, safe travels. P.s.Hi Dexter!
Hey Brian. Paul said he felt more terrified walking over the aqueduct than on the boat but couldn’t cope with steering it. I do feel for anyone with a phobia, I have a few of my own. Good you had friends with you at the races. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
Hi Paul Anthony, I hope you are both keeping well and 😮 you have made a positive start to 2024. Another great journey, 🎉I am sure you both had a lovely time together wishing.you both a positive joyful happy year ahead filled with joy happiness kindness love and gratitude 🙏
Hey Karl. Always good to hear from you. Hope you are keeping well. Belated Happy New Year to you. Your comment got held for review, so sorry for the late reply. We are all good thank you, we can see Dexter slowing, which is heart breaking. Hope you have a lovely week ❤️
Great vlog guys who said it was easy on a boat and the power off people when you get stuck that would not happen in a house all them people helping was Dexter and in side off boat after you tried to add to all britches and hole in canals then blame it on the sun it looked cloudy lol have a great week stay safe and stay warm guys
Hey Nicholas. Glad you enjoyed. The kindness of people was amazing. Bless Dexter, he seems more settled inside when we cruise now. The sun was definitely low 😂. Have a fab weekend and take care ❤️ .
Well, what an exciting adventure that was! Wind on the aqueduct would just do me in with a severe case of the heebyjeebies. Getting stuck was loads of fun to watch, which sounds quite mean but, seriously, interesting to see how everyone lent a hand as you worked out how to do this. Carry on! ❤️
It was quite the day Cherry. The wind was quite scary to be honest. We were so humbled by everyone’s effort to try and get us through the fallen tree. Human kindness never ceases to amaze me. Have a lovely week ❤️
Wow!!! Intense! Glad the situation was solved. Huge blessings for all the kind people who helped! Phew! Great to see our world has such awesome people.
It really did feel intense on the day too. So glad we got through that obstruction. So many lovely people along the canals. It does restore your faith in human nature. Have a fabulous weekend ❤️
I still can't get over how low the one side of that aqueduct is! Almost would make me tie myself to the boat with a harness. 🤣 It does seem amazing that the contractors can clear a tree like that with just straps and chainsaws. (Did any of them have to go in the canal to get it done?) I hope Dexter is still doing well on his new medicine, and I hope you all have a wonderful week.
😂. Absolutely no railings at all on the boat side James. It was scary with that wind. The contractors, fellow boaters and kind strangers were just incredible. They didn’t have to do in, which was good as it was freezing. Dexter is doing so much better with his new injection. His joints seem better already. Hope you have a fabulous weekend ❤️
What an adventure which you probably didn’t really want at the end but loved seeing you on the Llangollen steam railway. It was one of my husband’s favourites and we used to visit quite a few times. Most memorable time was during an Eisteddfod when the train stopped at a station by the river and some lovely Danish girls who had travelled there to perform later, got out on the platform and sang ABBA’s Dancing Queen unaccompanied most beautifully. So you brought back some lovely memories. I always regret never having time for a ride on the horse drawn narrowboat. Railway always took priority I’m afraid!
Hey Marilyn. Sorry for the late reply, for some reason your comment got held for review 🤷♂️. Definitely didn’t want to see that fallen tree, we got upset when we thought we wouldn’t get the boat back for her upgrades. Glad it all went well in the end. Aww fab that our trip brought back happy memories. Must have been amazing to hear those girls sing too. We have done the horse drawn boat with Paul’s relatives from Texas but not been on for years. Hope you have a lovely week ❤️
Hey Nick. So pleased that it all got sorted. We were panicking that the work wasn’t going to get done. Amazing all the help we received. Definitely makes you feel humble. Have a lovely weekend and take care ❤️
What a thriller! It may have been a bugger to live through but it certainly made good content. 🥴 The first part of this vlog was so festive. I’m glad you were surrounded by so many friends for the holidays. Sending love to all. 🙌😘🐶
Hey Michael. Those storms were horrific. Loved Christmas in the basin. Was good seeing all those people we haven’t seen for a while. Hope you are keeping well. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
Hi to you both from a Welsh girl. I am really impressed with your pronunciation of Llangollen, well done! Watching many of the Narrowboat vlogs, not many can say it correctly, so.....Klangoklen is really as near as you can get, and you both can do it 😁 Love your vlogs.
We could have cried when we got to that tree. Especially when they said we wouldn’t get through initially. So glad it all turned out ok. Have a fab weekend ❤️
Turkey sandwiches are one of the best things ever ! We roast a turkey breast for the big day and find that is enough for the main meal and a round or two of sandwiches It nice that we don’t feel we are drowning in turkey for days and days
Hi Paul, Anthony and Dexter-Dog. Dexter looked happy with his pieces of left over chicken. You're "Chicken Rolls" looked rather delish too. I loved the Steam Train. Well done getting First Class seats. Did you get any soot coming into the carriage? Anthony are you growing a Goaty? Ooooops, your poor boat on that sharp right-hand turn. I was shouting, "Anthony turn now" Would it had helped had you despatched Paul to the bow of the boat to observe, (the narrowboat version of a ship's "Crows Nest"). Glad no harm was done. The Sun can be really distracting at times. The Aqueduct was scary. You were both very brave going across in the Gale-Force wind. It was nice to see another boat coming towards you. The "Back in England" sign was good to see. Loved the banter on this cruise. Then suddenly the excitment started when you got stuck where a tree had fallen. I, by this time was on the edge of my seat. All very exciting stuff. Well done to everyone in finally freeing you, not once but twice. When you finally went for it, it was funny when someone shouted "Turn off the Power". The look on Anthony's face. "I will have no steering" (Anthony said) as you were gliding past the previous obstruction. What a full fun pact Vlog today. I enjoyed every minute. Thank you for another great Vlog. Take Care Spoolbox
Hey Spoolbox. Dexter loves it when he gets leftovers bless him. I would have benefited from Paul at the bow, definitely. The aqueduct really was scary, especially in that wind. I love the sign marking England and Wales borders and it was weird when part of the boat was in both countries. I could have cried when I thought that tree was going to stop us from getting the boat for its work to be done. Thankfully, with the help of everyone, it turned out well. Hope you have a fab weekend ❤️
eeeeish what a nightmare trip you had. Still love how people all muck in to help. Glad you eventually got through ok. Now have to wait till next week to see how the rest of the trip goes. Good luck guys am sure you'll make it ok
Hey Liz. It was quite a day. That’s the thing that makes boating life so special. Help and kindness from strangers and fellow boaters alike. We were so relived when we got through the obstruction. Have a great weekend ❤️
Oh no! That was an adventure poor Antony looked so stressed ! Keep your chin up spring is on the way x Iv been watching your videos and in true me style Iv watched them backwards and enjoyed every one , give Dexter a fuss for me xx
Hey Amanda. It was quite stressful. Cant wait for the lighter nights and spring. Glad you have been enjoying the vlogs, even if it is backwards 😂. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
Oh how I sympathised with you having to cope with the weather in Llangollen over Christmas. Wales does tend to get the brunt of any westerly storms. My husband and I grew up in Anglesey, so rain and wind were the norm during winter. Anyway, it was lovely to briefly meet Anthony on Tuesday (31st Jan). I won’t mention where in Cheshire in case that’s a spoiler. We regularly travel from our home in Milton Keynes to Anglesey on visits to my elderly father in law, and have found a spot just north of Nantwich where we can take a break and let our dogs have a good run along a canal. Nantwich is roughly half way through our journey. Your videos do whet our appetite to try out the canals.
Hey Helen. Those storms really did rock the boat quite a bit. The jetties in the basin just weren’t long enough to tie on bow and stern. Love Wales though and Anglesey is a beautiful place too. Good to meet you guys too. Hope your father in law is getting better. Glad you have found a more central location whilst you need to travel. Have a great weekend ❤️
Nothing causes chaos better than a deadline! Hope you have better luck as you travel on and then have a wonderful holiday. Unfortunately, at this point in time we know there are more storms on the horizon.
Absolutely. 😂. We did plan to move a few days before but saw the storms and thought it was safer to stay put. We had a fabulous holiday. Definitely what the doctor ordered. The latest storm we got was the worst. I have never felt the boat move so violently. Thankfully, the weather is now quite mild. Roll on spring. 😊. Have a great week and take care ❤️
@@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked It was scary inside bricks and mortar so I cannot imagine you both trying to sleep through that. At least there hasn’t been much in the way of ice for you to contend with.
The drama 😮. What a journey! I go to Llangollen whenever I'm in Wales. It's so beautiful, and the walk to Horseshoe Falls is wonderful. Now all I need is a narrowboat and my retirement is set. I hope your new year is all that you want? Good luck with your travels 👍
Blimey, going over the aqueduct and you filmed over the side and looked down I had to look away! And I wasn’t even on the boat 😂😂😂. Keep filming lads 🤩👍
That storm hit us in Northern Ireland too - we had a few bad days but at least I wasn't on water! All things considered you all did really well 😊😊😊 it was lovely to see Llangollen again - I was there for an overnight visit in July in my mini camper. Anyway, another fab vlog and slice of your lives - keep it coming! 🙂❤️❤️
Hey Colin. Those storms were horrific. Glad you didn’t sustain too much damage. Llangollen is one of our favourite places. Glad you enjoyed the place too. Have a great weekend ❤️
@@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked I've always been more into the mid Wales areas - I used to teach at Carmarthen uni and holiday around Machynlleth - not especially great for canal living lol! But North Wales has lovely childhood memories and although Llangollen was new to me I just felt straight away at home there. If I ever do return to your island it will be to Wales rather than England. 🙂🙂🙂 I hope you all have a great weekend x
Guys, i just had to watch this again. With a strong cupper i had to see if Paul did not use his Magic to free up the boat, and guess what: out of nowhere three burly men in bright orange overalls appeared! So i guess he did! 😜❤️👏
Hey Eric. 😂. That would be a fabulous trick. We were so relieved when they turned up, especially as we had worked booked in for the boat. The kindness of people is amazing. Have a fabulous week ❤️
Wow that was quite an adventure some crummy weather for your travels and that tree definitely wasn’t helping matters. But you made it through definitely needed a hot toddy after all that 🤣. Take care ❤️
Hi, gentlemen, again! Just viewed the wedged-in-the-canal-tree incident. What a total cluster. Felt bad you you got stuck. Thank goodness all ended safe and well. Happy cruising! 💚💚💚
Well boys what a day you had, it looked pretty horrible from my chair!!!! You managed ok in the end a bit hairy though, going back over that viaduct well I would have been below deck with Dexter. Hope you have a safe rest of your journey. Xx
Hey Sandy. It really was a day and a half. The aqueduct was scary in all that wind. So pleased we ended the day in a positive way. Dexter definitely had the right idea. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
Been watching your vlogs for several months now and I enjoy them. Just want you to know your friend here in Colorado, USA was trying to lean to starboard to help you get unstuck. Continue to be safe out there. Many blessings to you both and to Dexter!
Happy Friday evening! 😊 I'm guessing that windy night was the one referred to as the "worst night on the boat". The wind can be really rough. Especially when turning corners in bright low sun. ☺ I hope sweet Dexter is still doing OK after the health scare. I know that was terrifying. Llangollen in winter is just so awesome. The river is so strong and wild and the steam train looked like a fun trip. Going over the aqueduct in a strong wind has to be both cold and scary. ❤ As usual a need brought out lots of help from both friends and strangers. Canal people always show up to help. ❤ Have a great weekend and take care.❤
Happy Saturday Dorothy. That was the reference of the worse night in the boat. That sun really was low 😂. Dexter is doing well. We thought we were loosing him the other day. 😢. We love the Llangollen. We may even make it a winter pilgrimage. The steam train was amazing. The kindness of people was humbling. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
@@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked There's a curve going toward my house and in the late evening when the sun is low I can't see at all for several seconds. It's really scary and sunglasses don't really help. Glad to hear Dexter is well again. It's terrifying when the are seriously ill. Have a great weekend! ❤
Well, not the most peaceful cruise you’ve had! Still, it’s one to talk about in the future….do you remember when…?? I’m glad to see all those lovely helpers managed to free the boat.
It looks so cozy during the storm. What a lovely life you guys lead. I follow you and Heidi because it's such a relaxing lifestyle to watch. Maybe one day I'll have a narrow boat too?
Brilliant video, full of interest, well filmed as always, and the bit with the tree blocking the canal was high drama. I loved the way people stopped to help. What a great community on (and by) the canals. Love your channel, I'm a subscriber and I've watched it from the beginning. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us, and best wishes from Devizes on the scenic K&A!
Thanks for being with us from the start Katy. It really was a day full of everything. The people who stopped to help was a restoration in the kindness people show. Glad our friends were close by too. Hope you are having a good start to your weekend ❤️
I know this is a bit sad, I was thinking, well, now you know the skylights are waterproof. Glad Morning Star stayed the course for you. She is a good boat.
Thanks Robert. Glad you enjoy the vlogs. It is funny isn’t it, people’s perception of cold. We have viewers in Canada who have said our winter is warm to them 😂. Hope you have a good week ❤️
Wow real adventure vlog…amazes me where all the people suddenly turn up from…..glad you got free as it must have been stressful. Can you do two a week to catch up?
Hey Morten. Glad you enjoyed. It was a stressful day but the kindness of strangers and boaters never ceases to amaze me. We both still have jobs and I know how much time each vlog takes Paul to edit so doing more than one a week would just be too much. Hope you have a good weekend ❤️
So glad that so many people offered to help you and that the CRT crew were able to clear the tree out of your way. Love Paul smiling……or as Anthony says…. gritting his teeth. 😂 I would have been inside the boat with my eyes closed going over the aqueduct in that wind. Scary!!! You did a great job. 🤗😊❤️🐾 Kathy
Hey Kathy. They were amazing clearing that tree. We were so touched by how people stopped to help. 😂, gritting his teeth. He told me I was cheeky whilst editing. The aqueduct was scary in that wind. Hope you have a good weekend ❤️
Wow what a journey. Miserable weather and fallen trees. I really love how strangers are so willing to help. That’s wonderful. I hope Dexter wasn’t frightened. Thank you for another incredible video. Take care and cheers.
It really was quite the journey. I love it too how strangers are so willing to help. Restores your faith in human nature. Dexter seemed chilled in the boat. Glad you enjoyed. Have a great weekend ❤️
Thanks Roger. I know, that was a shocking crash. I honestly didn’t think I was that close to the bank due to the low sun. The bow thruster definitely would have been deployed if I had known. 😂. Hope you have had a good weekend ❤️
@@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked it's relatively new to you and you'll definitely be aware of it in future. Every time I've been and hired a boat they've always told me that it is a contact sport
Blimey what a journey, and the weather 🫣 I hadn’t quite realised how much noise and movement there would be on a narrow boat moored up in a storm 🥺, the creaking 🥺, great footage as always, weather a little better at the moment, I hope you enjoy your weekend 💚
Hey Lorna. Those storms were definitely fierce. The wind over the aqueduct was scary too. Glad you enjoyed the journey. Weather has been amazing for the last few days. Have a fab weekend ❤️
Hey Christopher. We loved the train ride and it was a fabulous thing to do and very festive. The wind over the aqueduct was quite scary but so pleased the day ended up well. Have a great weekend ❤️
Loved your vlog we have been to Llangollen a few times but never taken the stream train was just as it is on your way back great entertainment thanks. Ruth and David
Hey guys. Love the Llangollen. This may be our winter pilgrimage. Loved the festive steam train. Hope you guys are keeping well. Love seeing your travels on Facebook. ❤️
Wow that was some wild weather!😮how unlucky were you guys getting stuck?! Love a steam train as well and you certainly know how to have a good time. I can’t say I miss British winters tho. ☮️
It really was Crichie. I would say the last storm we had was probably the worst I have experience on the boat. We were gutted re the tree. Thankfully, we did manage to get through. I was so panicky. I do love a steam train. Didn’t manage to do it last time we were there. I don’t blame you re the British winters. One of the reasons we tend to go away on Jan for a couple of weeks. Hope you are keeping well. ❤️
Crazy weather these days, we’ve a foot of snow, more coming down then supposed to rain for awhile. The groundhog predicted an early spring but I’m doubtful, winter has really just got properly going so I think it’ll be snowing till end of April. Groundhog is full of crap this year. Do you have that silliness? On Feb. 2 the groundhog is supposed to come out of his hole and depending if he sees his shadow or not is supposed to predict an early or late spring, if he sees shadow , 6 more weeks of winter😳😥. He didn’t see it this year, he was under snow and didn’t, come out except those who are in animal reserves and they took them out. 😂 That was a crazy trip for you, thank heavens it all ended well. 🥰🙋🏼♀️
Hey Dawn. It has been a crazy mix of weather. Doesn’t look like we will have any snow though. Oh, the blasted groundhog. Sounds like our weather people here 😂. The trip was filled with difficulties but it was good it all ended well. Hope you have a great weekend. Keep safe with the snow. ❤️
Well, what an epic. A great time plus a steam train ride with mince pies and friends around in Llangollen Basin. Then, after already loosing a day, to then get stuck by a fallen tree. The time was very quickly ticking by to get all the way in time. I bet a bit of stress took hold. Long enough ago to now look back and smile. Hope the past two storms have been kinder to you three xxx
Hey Susan. Loved the train ride and Llangollen. We couldn’t believe that tree, I could have cried thinking we wouldn’t get the work done on the boat. Loved how people came to help us. The last storm was probably the worst we have had on the boat but it is great to see the sunshine now. Have a good weekend ❤️
Well that was certainly an adventure i do think you need some layering for when the weather is cold ie scarves and neck snoods maybe a baseball cap for low sun. I t is difficult with such a low sun though great blog as usual.
I just finished reading ‘Murder on the Oxford canal’ where the main character is living on a narrowboat - I felt like and expert when she’s describing the boat and all
Hi, gentlemen! Oh my word, you were rockin and rollin there for a while. Almost like an ocean cruise. Ha! 😅 The steam train trip was a nice surprise. Must have been nice to get off the boat for a bit. Holy cow, the crash! Nice solid bang! Ha! 😮 The Pontcasyllte crossing seemed harrowing. At that height and wind conditions, I'd have been crouched down with Paul. Eeeks! Have a fantastic week! 💚💚💚
Hey Julia. It really was quite the journey 😂. We loved the steam train. It was definitely a crash 😮. The crossing was horrific in the wind. Paul hated it. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
Wow…. You really do know how to round out the last of the 100-199 vlog episodes block! This one had it all: festivities, treachery, and nerves on edge. Oh Paul, you and I suffer the same ailment: I do not do heights either. I simply would not be able to cross that aqueduct. You both demonstrate such amazing boating skills and mostly, patience and persistence. An excellent vlog. This one is one for the records. Well done. Next week is vlog number 200! 🎉🎉🎉 Cheers everyone.
It really was a journey full of adventures. Paul absolutely hates heights. He did try and have a go at steering but couldn’t cope. We were really touched by the kindness of strangers and fellow boaters. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
Great to meet last week Gents thanks again for the advice and encouragement! Watching from Greece tonight with my wife and we have boat envy already hahaha Ginger 🫚 watching the rain on the skylights looks awesome. Good Cruising 🙏🏼
Oh what a mare! You did so well keeping a smile on your faces - I would have been so grumpy and stressed out!! Hope you have a lovely relaxing weekend and really hope ol Dexter dog is keeping well after you scare earlier in the week 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks Lesley. We did have quite the day. So pleased it all ended well. Dexter is doing ok thank you. We were heartbroken the other night. Dexter is such a good boy bless him. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
Well, what a day 😳and it did end in the dark just as Paul predicted!! The Mince Pie Special. Great name. I wonder which movies have filmed scenes at that train station? Probably several because It looks amazing on camera. Anyway, thanks for sharing this video, and hope you have a great weekend. Take care 🙂🐿🌈❤️
It really was a fabulous day. It was always going to end up in the dark. Loved the steam train and I can well imagine it being featured on films. Glad you enjoyed. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
Oh wow! That was quite a predicament! 😮 Big thanks to the CRT for coming to your rescue! Loved the segment with the steam train! (We have one here where I live too!) Sending love & hugs for a lovely, relaxing weekend. ❤️🐾❤️
Hey Kathy. It really was a day. It was amazing that everyone was so helpful. Who doesn’t love a steam train. Amazing and nostalgic. Hope you have a fab weekend ❤️
We did the steam train 10 years ago with our old dog Jock bless him and we loved it. Wow that was all go. Storms and trees down. You have definitely experienced everything. Hope beautiful Dexter is ok. Lots of love us 3 ❤❤❤
Loved the steam train Jacqueline. Think Dexter enjoyed too. The storms were horrific. So glad that tree was cleared. Dexter is doing great now thankfully. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
What a Hardy crew you are. Nobody can call you fairweather boaters, well done. I can see now why you wanted a bigger propeller. All the best guys. ❤Stephen
Thanks Stephen. We definitely have cruised in some horrific weather. All part of the fun. The new propeller and motor does seem to have a bit more oomph. Hope you have a great weekend ❤️
Gosh, that was a LOT more exciting than anticipated!! That aqueduct footage gave me the collywobbles, so I'd be ducking down right next to you, Paul; I can't imagine how alarming it is being there...😬
There were a few obstructions to the day. It was quite scary going over the aqueduct in the winds. Thankfully the day turned out well. Have a good weekend ❤️
Thanks Scott. We were panicking we wouldn’t get through because we had to get back for work done on the boat. So thankful for the kindness of strangers and the help of friends. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
Omg I've walked over there and that was bad enough, at least theres a railing on the walking side, I wouldn't like to be on a boat! You were very brave, especially in the wind! 😮 💨 xx
Thanks Mel. It was so stressful at the time, I felt like crying. It was lovely to see the kindness of strangers and the help from friends. So humbled. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
Thanks guys for taking us along on this action packed adventure, I hope that you three are doing well. Have a great weekend. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Fortunately our stalwart helmsman Anthony was on board to fearlessly navigate the windblown aqueduct. I’m certain Paul helped by lending plenty of moral support.
Hi Anthony & Paul, that was an action packed vlog. Loved the train journey. I have a similar exciting adventure coming up soon. 🤫😁 hope Dexter is doing good. His body won’t be liking the cold I’m guessing? Love from down under. ❤️❤️
Hey Katelyn. It was quite the day. So glad we made it through. We had visions of non of the essential work getting done whilst we were away. Yeah, Dexter is definitely better staying in the boat when we cruise now. He seems more relaxed. Look forward to seeing your vid. Have a good week ❤️
Hey Gordon. We were so relieved when they cleared that. If we hadn’t gotten through, we wouldn’t have been able to have work done on our boat. We were told someone had rang earlier about it so think that’s why it seems they responded that quickly but they did a sterling job. Hope you have a good weekend ❤️
Hey Pamela. That was probably the worst weather we have had in the years we have been aboard. Loved the steam train. I can see why you would do the trip every Christmas. It really is lovely. Have a great weekend ❤️
Evening guys, Well, what a journey you had with one thing after the other. Luckily, you managed to get to your destination. Hope the boat is performing has it should now, after the updates, and to your satisfaction. Have a good weekend, and thankfully all is well with you all. Take care. X
Hey guys. It really was a journey. Loads of obstacles in the way. Thankfully, all turned out ok in the end. Few teething issues but we are hoping these are getting resolved next week. The new motor and bigger prop seem more powerful. Have a good weekend guys. See you both soon xx
Wow that got a tad scarey getting so stuck like that. Well done one and all. Hope Dexters getting on all ok after his Librela jab. Best wishes. Stay safe guys. ❤
Hey Trevor. It was scary travelling with all that wind. The injections seem to be making his joints so much better. Fingers crossed. Have a great weekend ❤️

Train ride sounds like a great idea.
I love steam trains 😃
Wow that's a vlog and a half !!. Glad all was fine in the end. Some people restore the faith in human beings. . . hats off to them. Loved the steam train too. Hope you guys are well and enjoy the rest of your week.

Good Evening how are you all? I saw your post about Dexter hope he's feeling better bless him. Sending love and hugs xxxxx
Thanks Michelle, he’s doing okay thank you xx
Geez, never a dull moment eh?!
Definitely not Mike. It was a bit of a hectic day. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
😊stuck by tree 😂 = reminded me of the old irish song " Delaneys Donkey " pushing it n shoving etc' . entertained you did .. spot on !! Excellent !
😂. It was a bit like that to be honest. Have a great week ♥️
lol I was not expecting boating life crawling at such a slow 3 miles per hour can be so exciting and full of adventures! So addictive!
It really can be unpredictable. We love life afloat. Thanks for watching and have a lovely weekend ❤️
Well that was quite an adventure wasn't it? Take care 😊
It certainly was Susan xx
With you there Paul, very high and very scary with that wind. I think we’d have MAYBE three steam trains still running in Australia. Such and exciting vlog so much going on. I take it this was before Dex gave us all a scare, I so hope he’s much better now, thankfully Dani is better, I think they enjoy worrying us. You’ll be going to get where you need to be guys. Exciting vlog. Take care and love to Dex. 💕

Paul, I felt your pain and terror going over the aqueduct. I also have a severe fear of heights.
So much so that a few years ago we went to a nascar race here in the US. We went early to find our seats and the vertical arrangements of the seat sections was terrifying.
So much so that 2 friends
Had to help me get down.
What an adventure!
It really was MaryAnne. Hope you have a good weekend ❤️
u 2 living good. open air , it's not worth giving up. living the kid dreams
We love our lifestyles and whilst it isn’t all plain sailing (see what I did there 😂) we wouldn’t give it up. Have a fabulous week ❤️
Hi
Paul Anthony, I hope you are both keeping well and 😮 you have made a positive start to 2024.
Oh my, glad everything worked out well. What tense moments. Be safe and well and better journeys! ❤❤
Thank you Arleen. It was quite the day. So pleased it all turned out ok. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
Nice vlog guys👍. The trials of canal life and British weather conspire to slow you up. Glad to see people giving you a hand
Hey Chris. Definitely never a dull moment on the canals. It is the kindness of people that never ceases to amaze us. Have a wonderful weekend ❤️
Hi Anthony and Paul. Well done for getting past the tree. It was great to get help from your friends. Take care. Nick
Hey Nick. So pleased that it all got sorted. We were panicking that the work wasn’t going to get done. Amazing all the help we received. Definitely makes you feel humble. Have a lovely weekend and take care ❤️
That was wild! 😮
It was quite the journey. Thankfully we got past that tree well. Have a good weekend ❤️
Very entertaining as always, thank you
Thanks John. Glad you enjoyed. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
Aww thank you Pam. 😊. Love Wales. Many happy memories of North Wales. 🏴 Hope you Ste having a good week ❤️
Action packed boys! Downed trees - "You shall NOT pass!" :-) Lovely scenery though !
Thank you. It really was the a crazy day. The Llangollen is beautiful. Hope you have a good weekend ❤️
Oh my what a journey…😮
It really was Jen. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
My word I was anxious 😂
😂. Paul was too Marion. Hope you have a good weekend ❤️
Well i like that train. Well nice.
It was a great thing to do over Christmas 😊
Ey up me ducks.
Damn that pesky tree, lol. Thank goodness for your friends and the workers.
Ay a good'un guys 🙂👍
We could have cried when we got to that tree. Especially when they said we wouldn’t get through initially. So glad it all turned out ok. Have a fab weekend ❤️
Wow.what a nightmare. Well done guys. ❤️
Thanks Nigel. It was one hell of a day. Glad it all worked out well. Have a lovely week ❤️
Turkey sandwiches are one of the best things ever ! We roast a turkey breast for the big day and find that is enough for the main meal and a round or two of sandwiches It nice that we don’t feel we are drowning in turkey for days and days
Love a turkey sandwich Katherine. I agree, it is fab being able to use up the left over turkey. Now waste and best thing ever. Have a great weekend ❤️
Well guys, plenty of drama and action in this vlog, makes for an interesting watch for sure. Thx 👍🏻🇨🇦
Definitely plenty of Drama Jay. Glad you enjoyed the vlog. Have a good weekend ❤️
What a cliffhanger!
😂. We really didn’t think we were going to get through.
Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
Scary trip for you. Glad you were able to get on your way with the help of kind people.
It really was Julia. We are never ceases to be amazed by the kindness of people. So humbling. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
Oh no! That was an adventure poor Antony looked so stressed ! Keep your chin up spring is on the way x
Iv been watching your videos and in true me style Iv watched them backwards and enjoyed every one , give Dexter a fuss for me xx
It was like being on the set of Cape Fear 😂. Yeah, thankful no ice. ❤️
It really was Susan. We love Llangollen, you are right, it really is beautiful. Hope you have a lovely weekend. ❤️
Blimey, going over the aqueduct and you filmed over the side and looked down I had to look away! And I wasn’t even on the boat 😂😂😂. Keep filming lads 🤩👍
Glad you enjoyed Edna. The views over the aqueduct were stunning, despite the wind making it a little scary. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
Wales in general is beautiful and before we got the boat, we looked at moving there. You should definitely come and visit again. ❤️
@@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked will do - am planning to drive over in the summer 😁
Guys, i just had to watch this again. With a strong cupper i had to see if Paul did not use his Magic to free up the boat, and guess what: out of nowhere three burly men in bright orange overalls appeared! So i guess he did! 😜❤️👏
Hey Eric. 😂. That would be a fabulous trick. We were so relieved when they turned up, especially as we had worked booked in for the boat. The kindness of people is amazing. Have a fabulous week ❤️
@@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked ‘turned up’, jaja! Lolz! You 2 guys! Give Dexter some extra cuddles!
Will do ❤️
Guys what an exciting video ! So worried for you. I feel shattered xx
Thanks Virginia. We had such a day. Glad it all turned out ok. Have a great weekend ❤️
What an adventure that was!! But what a boring, stress free, sedate life we would live without wind, trees down, and blocked canals! 😂😊
😂. I could do with some of those days though. See you both soon ❤️
LOL! "I told you I can’t see."
😂 The look he gave me when I crashed 😂. Have a good weekend ❤️
Wow that was quite an adventure some crummy weather for your travels and that tree definitely wasn’t helping matters. But you made it through definitely needed a hot toddy after all that 🤣. Take care ❤️
It really was Judith. So pleased it all turned out ok. We definitely could have gone a hot toddy. Hope you have a lovely week ❤️
Hi, gentlemen, again! Just viewed the wedged-in-the-canal-tree incident. What a total cluster. Felt bad you you got stuck. Thank goodness all ended safe and well. Happy cruising! 💚💚💚
Morning Julia. We were so panicky when that tree blocked our path. We were so relieved when we got through. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
Hey Robin. Really glad you enjoy our vlogs. Thank you for your help on the starboard bow 😊. Hope you have a fabulous weekend ❤️
Wow that was a bit of a journey hope the next instalment goes more smoothly!
Safe travels and have a great week ❤
Thanks Alan. It really was. We thought that tree was going to stop us in our tracks. Hope you have a good weekend ❤️
Have a great weekend and take care.❤
I totally sympathise. I am the same at night and bright lights come towards me. Look after yourself ❤️
Quite chilly episode. I wonder if you guys like hot beverages. 😉☕️
It really was Klaus. We may be partial to coffee but sadly, no cake for me anymore. 😂 Have a great week. ❤️
So glad you took Dexter along on Thomas the Train. Sans Ringo Starr of course.
We loved the steam train journey. It was the perfect day. Have a great weekend ❤️
Well, not the most peaceful cruise you’ve had! Still, it’s one to talk about in the future….do you remember when…?? I’m glad to see all those lovely helpers managed to free the boat.
Definitely not the most relaxing Mishka. So nice of strangers and fellow boaters to selflessly lend a hand too. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
It looks so cozy during the storm. What a lovely life you guys lead. I follow you and Heidi because it's such a relaxing lifestyle to watch. Maybe one day I'll have a narrow boat too?
We do love the lifestyle. It is just the best. Thank you for following our journey. ❤️
Crikey what an adventure. 🙂 Chris in Devon.
It really was Chris. We were exhausted at the end of the day 😂. Hope you have a good week ❤️
😂. Every cloud. 😊. We are glad we got through that day. Have a good weekend ❤️
uh this was exciting, first the heavy wind on the scary aquaduct then the rescue of Morningstar well done guys!! 💪👏
Thanks Claudia. It really was quite the day. Thankfully, we managed to get the boat to our final destination. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
You have winter storm and hear were I live 40 that is very hot I just like your show Paul and Anthony and Dexter ❤️ 3:19
@@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked You did a great job editing! 😬 😂
Thank you ❤️
We hit the edge in the exact same spot. You come out of the bridge like a cork out of a bottle with the flow behind x
That makes me feel so much better. It really did come flying out. Even in reverse it carried on going.
Great to see your antics again.
I'm not sure what to say about the Helmsman on that sharp bridge exit but that I thought you had a bow thruster 😱
Lovely steam train ride look very festive. And very windy on the canal. Have a lovely weekend glad you got off the tree. 😊x
Hey Christopher. We loved the train ride and it was a fabulous thing to do and very festive. The wind over the aqueduct was quite scary but so pleased the day ended up well. Have a great weekend ❤️
@@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked 🤗🤗
Well done, all three of you. Dexter is the best doggo in the world! Hugs to all 3 of you. Leigh
Thanks Leigh. He really is the best doggie. Hugs to you too ❤️
Crazy weather these days, we’ve a foot of snow, more coming down then supposed to rain for awhile. 😂
That was a crazy trip for you, thank heavens it all ended well. 🥰🙋🏼♀️
Oh guys, that was epic…and exhausting to watch, can’t begin to imagine how tired you must have been! Good thing I had a bottle of red open, cheers!!
Hey Joy. It was quite the day. So pleased the day turned out ok. It was tiring. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
We have them Sue. No idea why we forget to use them 😂. That sun makes it very hard to see. Can’t believe the crash. Have a great weekend ❤️
I just finished reading ‘Murder on the Oxford canal’ where the main character is living on a narrowboat - I felt like and expert when she’s describing the boat and all
Hey Katherine. I have read all of those books. They really are good. Hope you have a fab weekend ❤️
“Captain Bow-thruster” strikes again. Never mind Anthony it’s a contact sport. I’ve done it 🤣👍🏼😎
😂. I am sure it won’t be the last time Nick. Got to love a bow thruster. Have a good weekend ❤️
I bet some of the tree must have been a nightmare. and that one that got you pined in that mess.
We thought that was the end of our journey John. CRT contractors did a great job though. 😊

Hey Stevie. It really was an eventful day. We are all good thank you. Have a fab weekend too. Take care ❤️
Fortunately our stalwart helmsman Anthony was on board to fearlessly navigate the windblown aqueduct. I’m certain Paul helped by lending plenty of moral support.
It was quite scary going over the aqueduct in that wind. It was definitely made better having Paul and Dexter with me. Have a great weekend ❤️
You seemed remarkably composed for such a stressful ordeal!
Heh Jan. I think inside, we were both panicking we weren’t able to get through the obstruction. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
That was such an exciting ending guys!
Is it normal for contractors to respond so quickly?
Thanks for sharing
Hey Gordon. We were so relieved when they cleared that. If we hadn’t gotten through, we wouldn’t have been able to have work done on our boat. We were told someone had rang earlier about it so think that’s why it seems they responded that quickly but they did a sterling job. Hope you have a good weekend ❤️
Omg what awful weather .We live near blue bell railway and always go on the Xmas trip love it . Xxx
Hey Pamela. That was probably the worst weather we have had in the years we have been aboard. Loved the steam train. I can see why you would do the trip every Christmas. It really is lovely. Have a great weekend ❤️
Evening guys,
Well, what a journey you had with one thing after the other.
