Explaining in common terms to one’s hair stylist can be a challenge. What are the best words to describe what we want in a particular style? Photos are good, but what is the best way to make your stylists understand what they want?
@@deberabaileyschroer1637 Great question and topic idea! It's tough because I typically say to always rely a pics since words have different meanings to different stylists. BUT, this does force me to think about some more universal terms that you may be able to use. Thanks!
My question is, how to grow out a too short bob…..and still have it look good at the various stages. I went from mid back length hair to just above shoulder length bob which I LOVED. But my next trim my hairdresser went way too short and I hated it! Now I’m trying to get back to around armpit length, but I’m stuck at this length where my hair flips out and looks silly! What can I do to ease this transition, while I wait, and wait. And wait?!!
I have curly, fine hair. And I just let it go natural white/silver. I have a good color. But I battle with wanting it longer, and not looking frumpy. Help! Please!
My question is related to LOWLIGHTS. So I've let my hair go grey and I quite like it and I realize that all-over colour is harsh in older women. But after over four years of being totally grey, I'm kinda yearning for a more youthful look. So what are LOWLIGHTS, what's the grow out like, will they give me a younger, fresher look and will they look natural?
Yes, how to connect layers for height on top and longer sides to wrap around my chin and neck😅 Is there such a thing as a spiked top and blunt cut bob? Are you still taking requests for your RUclips “haircut that makes you look younger” ? Thank you and have a Great time in Africa
Often a shorter cut draws the eye up and away from the jawline. It is a distraction. Add more eye makeup and less lipstick, trendy glasses and no one will notice your jowls. In colder weather wear a turtleneck or scarf.
Yes, that would be a great idea. I've had short (above the jaw) cuts that seem to make them jump out and seem more prominent, but I'd love a short cut that drew attention away from them.
I believe wash and go haircuts are a thing of the past. Don't get me wrong I would love that too. It might work if you get a perm. As we get older hair texture changes and greying hair is different from the hair we had when we were younger. What does Justin think about perms for a wash and go style?
Great video, Justin! I’d be interested in seeing a video specifically focused on curly bobs and bixies. Curly hair doesn’t fall in the same ways as straight hair, and those styles tend to look different on us. I love these styles though, and would appreciate your expert guidance on how to talk to my stylist about getting exactly what I’m aiming for. ❤
Hi Justin, I would love to see an entire series on medium haircuts (between ears and shoulders) for older women but still young at heart 😆 for curly/wavy hair and graying. I lover your channel. I have no clue to really explain to a stylist on what to do with my hair and low maintenance. Thanks again
I feel like taking a plane to where you are to get a hairstyle that I can wear for the rest of my life! I really don't need to change styles... as long as I can now get a style that suits my face, type of hair and lifestyle!
The Bixie is what my hair has finally grown into, after 3 bad haircuts in a row. I love it now, but have had 4 miserable months of grow out 😂 At least I know how to keep my style after watching this. You're the first one on RUclips to fully address this style sufficiently ❤ Thanks much 👍
Thank you! I appreciate that a ton. It’s such a huge difference in length between one bixie to the next. I feel like that needs to be addressed if people want to make good decisions. I’m really glad you liked it.
I would love a video on growing out hair from completely bald to atleast a bob. This is helpful for those coming out of chemo and wanting ideas to look good along the way. Wouls greatly appreciate this! Loved this video too ❤ thank you
I love these videos. I get a lot of ideas on how to style my own hair and how to talk to my stylist. So many women just sit in the chair and let the stylist decide. I know, I was one. And I'd smile at the mirror and thank her and get depressed as soon as I stepped outside. Did I want her to wave her magic scissors and make me beautiful? Yes, of course! LOL! But the biggest part of being beautiful doesn't come from your hair and makeup. It comes from within. And if you feel beautiful, well, that's the first step. Your stylist truly does want to help you get there. But they can't read your mind. You may look great in a bob, but as Justin has said, if it doesn't make you feel good, then it won't really make you beautiful because you won't be feeling it inside. I'm taking too long here, but I think many of us share the same feelings. Hopefully, watching these videos and looking at the possibilities and listening to Justin's advice will help us to better communicate with our stylists to finally get the look we've been striving for. ❤
Hi Justin. I'm almost 59 and come from a family of women whose hair thins a lot as we age. I have straight fine hair and a bit of a receding hair line. I keep my hair fairly short shaved in the back and longer on the rest of my head. I wonder if you have any suggestions for age related thinning hair. Thanks Justin, love your videos.😊
Wow, what a great video! Thank you! I would love to see a video for: -Petite woman -in early 70’s -Kind of a square face -Hair that is thinning -In a below shoulder length
I would like you to address cowlick especially with fine thin hair. I have wavy hair , a few strong cowlicks and I have a Bob. Thank you for showing how to address the nape of the neck as mine is uneven and has caused problems when I tried short hairstyles. Canadian Sue
Hi Justin, your videos are super helpful. What I’d love more of is integrating curly hair into your recommendations (particularly related to sagging jowls). So many of your examples are straight hair! Many thanks!
Hey, Justin! I paused the video so I wouldn't forget...I would love to see videos featuring a variety of hairstyles that work with fine, naturally curly hair. Now back to the video! 😄
Justin, I appreciate all you do here! It is so helpful. I just ended up with this bad bixie. Not what I tried to communicate. New stylist, 3rd cut. First was OK, she addressed my thinning hairline at forehead. Warmer weather now and needed to bring up some in back. Not good, it's squared off and really doesn't flatter my face. What I would like for a video topic is addressing thinning/ high forehead styles and hot natured- so not a lot of hair in my face 😀
Thank you Justin 😘 Your videos have helped me so much in FINALLY getting the cut I wanted. I've learned the terms to use and sent my stylist a copy of one of your videos to help convey my wishes. Bonus, I have had the cut for the past 6 months that I actually wanted and feel comfortable with. Great video work and it is much appreciated ~ Paula from Canada
My biggest haircut “fears” are not choosing the right haircut for my face shape, not being able to style it right myself, not knowing the right products, looking too old with the style I choose.
this is where I actually wish stylists were more educated to help make suggestion. I want to trust that they know what I could pull off, but, they always defer to me (and I'm not an expert). I get why they do it. Many women have strong opinions about what they want. But, just saying...
Great video of information for talking with my stylist if/when I want a new hair style or to tweak my current style. Thanks for telling us how to go about determining what we want & how to put it on paper to show our stylists!! Love your video!!
The video answered all of the major struggles I have with describing what I want to my stylist. Pictures are not enough! This was really helpful, thank you.
Hi Justin! I love your videos. I would love to have some tips on dealing with wavy hair. Not curly hair, wavy hair. I think it's more prone to frizz, and mine is quite thick, and I would love some information on products and hairstyles especially for those of us in humid climates. Thank you!
Allright..heres one of the many video ideas i would like for your wife and you to do. Love your wife...btw...shes hilarious along withbeautiful. 1] how to find a GREAT stylist in my area. One that takes into account faceshape and if coloring..my undertone. Tips and tricks on how to find an amazing salon. What should we expect to pay at a good salon for different services?? Etiquette if you want to switch stylists at the same salon 😮? 2] im 49 and they say i need to cut my 90s layered hair. I don't wanna!!!!!😢 3] I have so many more...but am having complete memory loss. Love your videos..your wife is wonderful and love those puppy faces!!!!! Thank you Much love from AZ ❤ Shannon
Thank you, Justin, for another great video! My biggest question is about how to style my hair on the 2nd and 3rd day after I washed it. My hair quickly loses volume and freshness and I find it difficult to avoid a greasy look, even with the use of dry shampoo. I would love to learn about your tips and tricks!
I had a bixie for a while. Only I didn’t do it intentionally. I was growing out a pixie! 😆 So if there was specific content I could ask you to produce, I would want your tips and tricks on the in-between stages of growing hair from short to long.
Would LOVE to see a video on the shag haircut. They can be very short to long, short or long on top, etc.... I just transitioned from a ponytail and bangs to an easy and cute medium-length shag. This Bixie, however... whoa... that's a lot of info. Much needed info. If I ever wanted to transition to this I would be sure to have this video, answer all question... and then see my stylist. My hat's off to the women who wear this well and to the mega-skilled stylists that know how to cut this style. And THANK you for your expert advice and extensive knowledge and pro tips. You are amazing. ❤
Can you talk about products that add volume? Not brands, more about how they work . What are they made of. The good, the bad, the ugly on volumizing products. Thanks Justin. Love your channel. I'm 64 and cut my own hair. I love the tips and tricks!
I'm transitioning to my natural salt/pepper/silver after coloring and bleaching/highlighting for decades. How do I achieve a longer hair style without it looking witchy? Also, Is there any products you recommend to keep the hair silky soft instead of the crazy wires that my silver hair has? I'm not wanting a short cut yet (afraid of all those low maintenance granny styles) but I'm sure eventually I will get an edgy shorter cut, but not yet. I love your videos btw, and your wife is always great in them too!
I don’t mind turning gray, but I can’t stand the way the strands stand up. I have natural curly brown hair & the gray/white hair looks like a corkscrew, I’ve stopped pulling them out-there are too many of them now. I just want something to soften them & make them lay down.
Justin, your videos are so informative! I only wash a few times a week so I’d love to see a video that gives styling options for day 2 and 3 hair but also gives tips on how to use products to keep my hair looking good till my next wash. I’d be so happy to try some new routines and styles on my medium length shaggy layered hair. I’m kind of need some new ideas. Thank you!
You always explain things in ways that I've never thought of before but it makes so much sense! I had a pixie for a short (pardon the pun) time. One cut was great and one time was not great. If I had had your tools to describe it to them, it definitely would have gone better. I grew it all out and now have PTSD about going short again. LOL. Thanks again and have a great day!
Thank you so much! I always appreciate your feedback! I hear that a lot, people go short and then can’t find a stylist that will re-create the cut. I don’t think you’re alone and it’s unfortunate. I totally understand how short haircuts are hard to do exactly the same twice, but there should be some consistency within the shape to the extent that the client still feels great about it. I’m not sure exactly what happens there. my only thought would be that the stylist doesn’t remember what they did last time. However, at that point questions need to be asked to reaffirm the desired outcome.
Take a photo of yourself or bring pictures of others in the style you desire. Even if it's close but not exact, it's much easier to explain once there is a base visual. Much luck! 😉
Last autumn I found a stylist, I'm truly happy with, for the first time in my life 😅. The feeling of relief, I can't adequately describe. I can now get a good haircut, that flatters me, whenever I feel like it. I don't have to dread visiting the salon anymore. Yay!
This video is SO informative….I am happy I don’t want my hair short, ever again…but, if I wanted it shorter, I would definitely follow these steps!!!!..everything you explained would be so helpful to being to your stylist!!!!…much love and appreciation!!!…I hope you guys are doing awesome!..💜💜💜💜💜💜
I'm really upset with all the so called "anti-aging" styles! I feel very sorry for the ladies who submitted to their haircut methods. When the hairdresser is finished, they look older and less feminine. One lady's expression when seeing the final style said it all. I commented on this treatment and was shot down for speaking out. I wasn't the only person who said it.
Ask your hairdresser which style he'd choose for a woman in her 30s with the same face shape and hair texture and thickness. Also look around at younger women with your type of hair and face to see what looks good on them.
Why do stylists always try to get us over 60s to cut our hair short?? It took me this long to finally get my hair past my shoulders. Now I'd like to get a style for medium curly but slightly thinning and receding at the temples. I like to wear it both curly and straighter when I want. I also don't like using alot of product because it ends up irritating my scalp.
Your video was so detailed with subjects we do not think about when looking at a style and talking to our stylist. I'm currently growing out a pixie and have a very short bob--I'm not sure where I'm going (style-wise) Thank you!
Fantastic info so helpful. I have thick fast growing hair. I really dislike my occipital bone and how I try to work around it. Guidelines for comfort and length is on point. I really enjoyed your short hairstyles for over 50! Confidence is a big deal as we age! Thanks again -
I have wavy hair, but it’s uncontrollable. I go back and forth trying to straighten it, which at the moment is not working, and trying to get a nice wave or curl. I have a lot of hair, so the shorter I get it cut the more uncontrollable it is. I have always had bangs because my widow’s peak causes my hair to hang strangely. So tired of my hair right now! 😢
Great info again! My question is for thick straight hair and lots of it at 59. My stylist says layers are not best for me so I look forward to next week. I tuck my hair behind my ears and call it a day. "Curling " all that hair makes it look like a crazy bush and i love waves. Your video was really helpful with that.
Hopefully next weeks video will help. All due respect to your stylist, I would have to agree to disagree with them. Layering is an option but it has to be done right. Next weeks video goes deep into that!
I’ve brought pics of the exact cut and style and color so many times to “expert” and expensive stylists over 30 times over the years and I’ve not once left the salons (3) with the same cut style or color. I get maybe color is a process, but a cut and style with video and pics provided and the style and cut is never been what I’ve asked for. Thank you for your information in the video.
How do I find a hair stylist that knows what they’re doing as much as you do? I’ve “tested” so many stylists and still haven’t found a great one where I live. I haven’t loved my hair style in about 3 years.
Great video, I look forward to your videos each week. I get bored with hairstyles easily but a lot of times have no idea what I really want. I have a long face and fine/thin hair so your videos are very helpful to me! Have a great day and thank you for sharing your knowledge!! 🙂
Fabulous info. I always take a picture(s) to a new stylist or a new cut. I also have curly hair, wearing a bob now, am 66 and almost 40-50% silver. I've always had good, healthy hair, but must change products according to current texture/cut. I love your videos and love that you keep them short and talk fast! LOL
Can you describe a good haircut for thin/fine straight hair that is the lowest maintenance? (I have a round face shape also). Thank you for the informative, fun content! :)
This is the best video I've ever seen you make -- maybe the best I've seen any hairdresser make-- because it is so detailed and specific. I really dislike videos on appearance or hairstyle or clothing made for women which start out about "never" doing/wearing some style, or how bad some style is, because everyone is different, physiologically and in regard to how they want to work or are willing to look. It's difficult to be bombarded with negativity for 10 minutes and then get the caveat regarding how a certain style could work for some people. So seeing so many different styles adapted to different faces of women different ages it's really much more helpful and enjoyable. I always suspected there was more going on with the thinking processes of people cutting and shaping hair than they were letting us know. Thanks.
Here are two hair problems where I could use some advice. The first is I have different hair textures on different parts of my head. The back is thick and wavy and the top & front are thin and limp. It's hard to tame the waves nearing the nape of my neck and I can't get the top/front to hold much wave or volume. My second problem is I'm getting older and looking for hairstyles to minimize my sagging cheeks, jawline and neck. I find it hard to choose a style and length which suits my round face, short neck and hair texture that won't drift toward the shape of a tent as is grows out. Any suggestions are appreciated and thanks for all you do!
Hey Justin. Can you discuss the following: setting realistic expectations for hair cuts in relation to hair textures, consider body shape in relation to a new hair cut, how to camouflage (or detract) certain aspects of aging (jowels, double chin, turkey neck, etc) with a hair cut and or style. Thanks for some great content!!!
Thanks Justin, so well explained as always ❤. What recommendations do you have for hair style and length as it relates to the person’s overall height and weight? Keeping the proportion or scale as complimentary as possible while still addressing preference for a certain look. For instance, I’m 5’9” and feel like I need longer hair or my head will look disproportionately small compared to the rest of me. Thanks for the great content and being so willing to address our questions and concerns!
Yes! Except I’m 5’1 & shrinking with age >65, overweight due to medical reasons, need a style for me to be proportionate too! Thin, flat, fine hair now…
Although this is not a particular concern that I have, I definitely see the relevance when I look around. It's not something that's discussed very often but it seems that either up, down or sideways, the size and volume of hair should be in balance with body size.
I like this idea! I've always been self-conscious about my body proportions compared to my hair style. I'm short at 5'3", only 115lbs, BUT I have broad shoulders. I have a woman's swimmers body. When I see pics of me with long hair, especially from the back, I feel like it makes me look HUGE. But pics of me with my pixie can do the same. I have very thick hair that tends to poof out when it's long, so that doesn't help. There must be a happy medium that won't make me look so weird proportionally.
Hi Justin. Great video, again! 😊 I love the look of pixies and bixies, but guess I'm scared of me looking old in it. Probably cause my mum is having those hairstyles since ages. 😂 I have medium-long fine hair, slightly layered. Looking for a style that's easily maintained, without too much styling involved in the mornings. I tried telling my hairdresser a few of the points you were always mentioning in your videos, like guiding the eye upwards etc, but I always come home with a very similar cut, and I feel bored by it. Very flat in volume.
Found a stylist finally that i love, then had tonmove 2 hrs away. Troed a couple others, but now drive 2 hrs to my stylist. She is talented like you ! In fact , lots of what you discuss here she has guided me on on the perfect style for my face and age. I am 63 and i swear ...the right haircut/stlyle can take off 15 years! ❤
I am a huge fan of your videos. I loved how you broke the Bixie down. I have been struggling with the question of whether to go short or stay long. I love my hair both ways sometimes. I would love to see a video similar to this one on long hair.
@@justinhickox Interesting, you know I did go with them at one point but there was some product that became sticky in my hair and it took a couple of weeks to get it out it was unbelievable and yes I didn’t mention it to them I just stopped getting it.
68 yr old with silver hair - fairly thick. I wear it just to my shoulders in a type of bob with light bangs. But the front hair all wants to go forward over my face. I feel too old to wear clips all the time. Any style suggestions?
Thanks for another great video, Justin! The best piece of advice I got from you is showing pictures of what I like but mainly what I don't like in a particular haircut, which is exactly what I did 4 years back when I went from a waist length hair to a pixie cut. I wanted to do that all my life, the hairdresser was so grateful for explaining him what I did NOT like apart from what I liked, the result was wonderful and I owe it all to you, so thanks! Now though, after enjoying my pixie for 3 years, I'm growing my hair out again. It has just reached collar bone length and God, I hate it. It is exactly the dreaded triangle bob hair, puffy at the lower sides, no volume on top. Most of the time it looks like it's one length, although it's not. It's slightly shorter in the back but you can't really see that since my hair is thick and a little bit of wavy... they tend to curl in the lower ends but stay flat from the top till just under my ears. Plus the front layers (remember it was a pixie) have just reached my chin. What to do to fix this mess? I would gladly go back to my beloved pixie, but it WAS high maintenance and I really want to let my hair grow longer now. Any ideas?
I have learned so much from watching your videos. I’ve finally settled with a short bob, it also helps that I have a wonderful stylist. Thanks so much for sharing all of your knowledge.
My question is whether this concept can also be applied to us wavy heads? I’ve been playing with slowly going shorter but it is really hard…going shorter hasn’t made my curls stronger. In fact, I’m really bordering on very wavy now that it’s just above my shoulders. I’m rather surprised about that and don’t know why this has happened. Any insight you can offer when you do your next segment on wavy hair will really be appreciated. Thanks for listening 😊 PS: sometimes I’d like to blow dry my hair straight but it then wants to frizz. Why is it some women can do both? Thanks!
I'm a canacer survivor so after I lost my hair it came in WEIRD. Here's how it's cut now. I'm almost 69 and I didn't NOT want to typical Granny short haircut: short on the sides, bangs, heavily layer on top. NO way. I have short hair in back and a little full on the top and sides. Bangs are kind of longer, parted on the side. My hair is naturally, softly wavy especially on my sides by my ears then it just curls up. No matter WHAT hairstyle I get my hair always does that. I'm 60 percent gray, mostly in the front and sides. I'd love to know how to use a hairdryer with a brush or my fingers or maybe one of those combo brush-dryers. I'm an idiot when it comes to that stuff. A total spazz. Thank you, as always great content.
I would guess most smart women bring a picture of what we want done. We've already learned from our past mistakes. I always ask my stylists to show me what THEIR idea of an inch is, compared to MY idea of an inch. 🙄
That's SUCH a great point! I've mentioned that in past videos and I should have hit on it in this one! I typically say to not speak in inches since there can be such a massive inconsistency in definitions. Thanks for bringing that up!
years ago in beauty school, my teacher hit on this point ....she mentioned an anomaly that every person .... it does not matter size or sex ...each digit ( finger) has knuckles and each is approx 1" ....so when I go and say an inch I use my finger as my guide
I have a chin-length, graduated bob. I like to occasionally play with it and fancy it up. Styling techniques explained are always good: waves, curls, dressy options, etc.
Like your video's. I would like a new style I just moved into retirement home.. Need something easy to take care of n becoming. My hair is fine n thin. Any ideas?
I would love to see more content on natural wavy hair; hair cut styles and how to manage it, especially on refresh days. Would also like to see more about grey hair.❤ thanks Cathy
HELP! Please do a video on communicating about bangs with a stylist. I really like the numbered steps you used in this video. My stylist has always done a great job with color and the rest of my hair but I have never been happy with bangs. I try to ask for side part, side swept off my face and with a little lift at the roots but I walk out with baby doll bent under bangs that look so dorky at 65 years old. I don't think my bangs would be appropriate on anyone older than 7. I cringe doing errands then rush to wet them down and re-blow them as soon as I get home. I love my stylist but feel that I just don't know how to communicate what I want. Please break it down into parts (pardon the pun) like you did in this bixie video. I need to be effective and kind. ❤❤❤❤❤
I have very thick hair. Now, it's gotten dryer and has a different texture (wavy) underneath, the top layeris straight, as it always was. I'm wearing it long, but blowing is a royal pain. I'd love to see videos for thick hair. I get mine thinned out, because of the bulk. EVERY stylist I have ever had says I have 5 peoples hair on my head!
Hi Justin, I am besides myself with worry! I am 53 in a weeks time and my hair has become severely fine and full of breakage. I can break it between my fingers. I have an auto-immune condition so suspect this and possible meds and the menopause is wiping my hair out. I went to a local hairdresser and he did not really want to touch it as it is so damaged. I just do not know where to start. I have started cutting myself because I am sick of it. I used to have long hair but now it has just gone above my shoulder and is becoming sparse at the temples and hairline. Please can you help! 😓
I feel for you as l have been shedding all over the place because of health. My hair was falling everywhere & l got so sick of the mess all the time so that’s why I got a pixie cut to fix the problem. Best decision actually.
@@sofiamiliaressis5403 Thank you Sofia, it makes you feel so miserable, and every time you catch a glance of yourself in mirror you shudder, and leave a trail of hair everywhere. I had a pixie before this issue but did not make me feel good. I love long hair, but you are right you have to do something with what you have got. I will try and summon the courage again! ❤
Thanks so much for another informative, brilliantly explained video. You asked about content that would be helpful: I have very fine hair which has thinned as I got older and a round face. I have bangs at the moment and feel like you can see too much scalp at the front. When I am online meetings for work I constantly see what I think of as my bald patch and hate it. I am looking for ways to disguise this to help with my confidence.
I had a problem and need to correct my cut in a few months. Thank goodness it's long enough that I can still wear up. She left it uneven at the length and over layered the bottom, while not layering the top/sides and interior at all. My fault somewhat, I didn't bring a picture (and walk out, when I got bad vibes that we weren't communicating). Trust me, I'm nor a bad customer. But I have wavy but fine hair (and a lot of it )and small diamond face, so I do have some concerns. I'm looking for more wash and wear hair style(layered) too due to my lifestyle and age, etc.
Great video! One of your best, because I'm 69, straight, no body hair, and I want to back to a short cut, which I had for at least 30yrs of my life. Now I have some styles I can show a hair stylist, as I try to find one I can trust in this not-so-little Tyler, Texas town...until I can move back to Southern PA, which I find myself missing, especially the mountains.
Such a good video! I have learned so much from your videos. I love short hair! I had a pixie as a child which spoiled me forever! I grew it out into the obligatory 70s style, long, straight and parted down the middle then cut it into a shag when that became popular and have never looked back. It has taken me years to figure out what you have covered in this video and a previous one -- that a longer softer nape is more flattering on me and that width at the sides makes the top appear flat. I would like to know the difference between mousse and thickening spray and which to use for various styles. Thank you Justin!
Ugh... I've been trying to get a Bixie for over a year. Each time, despite my showing a photo, I end up with a very short pixie. Just happened again a week ago! I grew my hair out for 6 months so it would have the length needed and then asked the stylist to shape the hair... now I have a super short pixie. This is after trying 3 different stylists. What can I do to actually get the cut I want? Am I not communicating well enough so the stylist doesn't understand? The pic I show is one of myself, when I had a good cut several years ago.
Love ALL of your videos! You truly provide great information and visuals. My questions about my hair involve a baby fine texture (but a lot of it in the back) with a good bit of curl. It is less dense around the forehead and ears with cow licks on each side of my forehead. The front tends to fall forward in the center of my forehead making it hard to keep it out of my face and get volume in the front. I have had bangs for years, but lately I have been attempting to embrace a layered bob without bangs. I have tried multi-directional drying in the front and having doing off center part, along with many different products to increase the texture. The front always seems to separate and reveal my forehead with my crazy "Mickey Mouse Ear Cowlicks". Got any styling tricks for me?
Awesome! This cleared up a lot of things for me just in the knick of time, because I'm glad I didn't go into the salon and just tell the stylist I want a Bixie, which is what I was thinking about doing. Now I've got some work to do
I took pictures with me the last couple of times to different stylists and came out with nothing like what I showed them lol. I'd like you to do a video on hairstyles for women who wear glasses. Between the hair and glasses I feel like my face is completely closed in.
Your videos are always very informative! For myself, I'm looking for info on care for gray hair, curly/wavy, fine texture, thinner than it used to be. Always looking for style ideas.
Love your videos Justin! Can you please tell me what is so hard about a layered cut? I have been to at least a dozen stylists over the last several years and no one can seem to cut my hair in a layered cut well. Is it me?
Thank you! Definitely depends on the length of your hair. I do have a video coming out next week that taps on layering concerns. I think you may find it super helpful!
I’ve got that problem too. I ask for layered chin-length bobs, show pictures of layered chin-length bobs, and still get blunt bobs 50% of the time. Blunt bobs+curly hair=pyramid head.
The majority cannot do it, this is why I gave up on layering years ago. An ex husband used to cut my layers in good - he was not even a hairdresser so if he could do it I don't know why professionals managed to cock it up so bad, even a so called hair stylist to celebrities.
What I hate most is when you take a picture of the style the stylist is either blind or just not interested! So my stylist knows that she can't cut to much, but she always does! Totally hate the growing out phase!
My hair is extremely thin and fine. I have a balding look on top of my head, but I am tired of pixies. I want a Bob, even if it’s shorter. I’m 73. Length in back shorter: side longer; top ?, and I’m shooting for jaw length. M Shepherd
Make sure you let me know what you think about the question I asked in the video!
Can we have a video on the ‘Shob’ please? That’s a cross between the shag and the bob - a shaggy bob or a bob-y shag - that’s what I’d like next. 😀 🙏
Great idea! Thank you!
Aw! Yes!😊
Yes l like the sound of a Shob idea. I wonder what Justin’s professional opinion on this style will be?
@@sofiamiliaressis5403 Yes - I’m looking forward to it. Thanks Justin 🙏
A video on the most flattering styles for jowls would be great, especially for hair that is prone to being fine and frizzy. Thank you 😊
Yes, how to connect layers for height on top and longer sides to wrap around my chin and neck😅
Is there such a thing as a spiked top and blunt cut bob?
Are you still taking requests for your RUclips “haircut that makes you look younger” ? Thank you and have a Great time in Africa
Yes! I need to hide my double chin!
Yes this!
Id love to see a video on wash and go hair cuts with little to no styling. Id love emphasis on long and medium hair lengths.
Thank you! That’s a great topic idea.
But also include short! I’d love a wash and go short cut!
@@evelynmartin5570l do as well …
I believe wash and go haircuts are a thing of the past. Don't get me wrong I would love that too. It might work if you get a perm. As we get older hair texture changes and greying hair is different from the hair we had when we were younger. What does Justin think about perms for a wash and go style?
Wash & go - Yes! Short / medium with thick hair and some wave. Thanks!
Need best haircut for thin/fine sides… don’t want a style that needs frequent cuts. TIA! (72 yo!)
Great question! Thank you!
Yes, 💯 agree!

Thank you! That's such a huge compliment!
Me too. You’re worth a airline ticket.

Great question!
Me too! Now to use Justin's questions to figure out how to keep the length but clean up the rest!
I would love a video on growing out hair from completely bald to atleast a bob. This is helpful for those coming out of chemo and wanting ideas to look good along the way. Wouls greatly appreciate this! Loved this video too ❤ thank you
As a stylist..
This video helps us and the client...communication is key..
Great job...Justin ❤
Love the idea of having clear directions along with pictures to properly communicate to a stylist.
How to find a haircut after 60 with thick hair but want a current style no old lady hair! Thanks for sharing this video
I can't love this enough! Literally yes....to all of it.....yes!
Thank you for writing "magic scissors!" I too have fallen under their spell.
Thank you! I would love to see a video for:
-Petite woman
-in early 70’s
-Kind of a square face
-Hair that is thinning
-In a below shoulder length

Hi Justin, your videos are super helpful. What I’d love more of is integrating curly hair into your recommendations (particularly related to sagging jowls). So many of your examples are straight hair! Many thanks!

I would like a video that shows women with thinning hair and the best haircuts for that situation. Short, Long, medium cuts ?

Thank you, Justin, for another great video! My biggest question is about how to style my hair on the 2nd and 3rd day after I washed it.

For the last 2-3 years I’ve been where you are! I really want to hear Justin’s suggestions!
I don’t mind turning gray, but I can’t stand the way the strands stand up. I have natural curly brown hair & the gray/white hair looks like a corkscrew, I’ve stopped pulling them out-there are too many of them now. I just want something to soften them & make them lay down.
Love the detailed explanations you provide.😊
Thank you! I'm glad they help!
Thanks again -
Thank you so much! I’m really glad that you’re liking these videos. I really appreciate that feedback.
In Montreal, a Bixi is our bike-sharing system.😂
Hello, can you discuss some curly/wavy hair bobs more ? Thanks
Curly and wavy styles are on my list this year for sure!
Hey my guy!…I just have to say, you had my trust from your first video!💜
I'd love a segment on the best haircuts for thick course wavy/curly hair. My hair is between wavy and curly.
Me too. My hair is not curly enough for full head of curls. Tends to be straighter ontop. Too wavy for geometric styles.
Great video, I look forward to your videos each week. I get bored with hairstyles easily but a lot of times have no idea what I really want. I have a long face and fine/thin hair so your videos are very helpful to me!
Have a great day and thank you for sharing your knowledge!! 🙂
Thank you so much! I'm really glad I can help!
Could you do video on hair toppers! How to style with your own hair. Thanks Jennifer ☺️
LOL
Thank you for your kind words. And yes, pictures of both what you do and do not like is super helpful!
Me too!!
Yes! That would be a good topic.
This was so helpful, my stylist does listen to me but I don’t always communicate correctly what I want!
I love your videos! I would like more videos on the best style for my face shape at different lengths.
Hi Justin. Great video, again! 😊 I love the look of pixies and bixies, but guess I'm scared of me looking old in it. Probably cause my mum is having those hairstyles since ages. 😂
I have medium-long fine hair, slightly layered.
Is the Bixie a good if I losing my hair in the front? Having gray hair I'd like to brighter it up a little bit. How should I do this?👩🦳 🙏
I am a huge fan of your videos. I loved how you broke the Bixie down. I have been struggling with the question of whether to go short or stay long. I love my hair both ways sometimes. I would love to see a video similar to this one on long hair.
Hi Justin, ~my question is what is the least damaging most effective and most accessible medium blonde hair coloring to cover gray hair permanently?
Great question. If you're doing it at home, eSalon. I've worked with them on my channel before but I recommend them regardless.
Thanks!
Well you have just described my hair! I hope Justin addresses the issue.
I show photos with no success!😂
I have a chin-length, graduated bob. I like to occasionally play with it and fancy it up. Styling techniques explained are always good: waves, curls, dressy options, etc.
What is the best style for finer, wavy, mid-length hair?
Great question! Wavy and curly hair is on my radar this year!
Like your video's. I would like a new style I just moved into retirement home.. Need something easy to take care of n becoming. My hair is fine n thin. Any ideas?
Looking for volume. I have medium long straight length. Afraid to layer because hair got so thin.
Gret topic! I totally understand! I actually talk a bit about this in next weeks video!
You asked about content that would be helpful:
I have very fine hair which has thinned as I got older and a round face.
So sorry to hear that! This actually isn't uncommon at all. Next weeks video is about his problem and others! I think you'll love it!
Just found your channel. The explanations you give are helping me figure out how to talk to my stylist. Thanks.
Thin or parting hair in the crown. Also, what is a good shape when you have a turkey neck? I have a high forehead and fine hair. I am 64years old.
Great question! Thank you!
I’d like to know the best process for growing out a pixie/ bixie?
Great question! I like that topic a lot!
Would love to see you do a video on curly hair - how to style, prevent frizz, products, etc.
Most dangerous bob is the diy bob that I used to give myself every time I saw something that I thought looked cute (on other people).
HAHAHA! Well played! LOL
@Spiritually Safe yes! I've paid as much as $125 thinking "you get what you pay for".....nope 😢
@@justinhickox I can't wait! 😊
Your channel inspired me to cut off 4 inches and go for highlights in my graying hair. My new bob cut, layering and color is so flattering.
What I hate most is when you take a picture of the style
the stylist is either blind or just not interested!
So my stylist knows that she can't cut to much, but she always does!
Totally hate the growing out phase!
It sounds like you need a new stylist!
This is the video I've wanted for a couple of years. Thank you, Justin, for the breakdown.
I’d love a short Bob but my hair is thick and heavy which leaves the top of my head flat
More than likely this is a layering thing. If it's layered correctly, it would make all the difference in the world.
@@justinhickox thank you Justin, love your Chanel
My hair is extremely thin and fine. I have a balding look on top of my head, but I am tired of pixies. I want a Bob, even if it’s shorter. I’m 73. Length in back shorter: side longer; top ?, and I’m shooting for jaw length.
