1982 from Diary of a Madman Drums: Lee Kerslake (16 April 1947 - 19 September 2020) Bass: Bob Daisley Producer: Max Norman I added some reverb on the drums.
Had a few beers with Lee (and Mick Box) backstage back in 1994. Great guys. Lee and I started talking about Randy Rhoads and how most fans thought that Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge played on the Diary of a Madman album. Lee told me a funny story of how the Deep Purple guys (Ian Gillan) wouldn't let them into a party they were throwing, lol ~ R.I.P. LEE
An exemplary performance and proof of how a rhythm section works in a rock band. Blissful flourishes abound, whilst giving Randy plenty of room to shred.
Love this...It takes me back to a time when my older brother would be on his bass and I on my drum kit in my mom and dads den, playing to a sold out crowd in our minds lol. Our set also consisted of Rock Bottom and lights out by UFO and just about every Maiden song lol. Good times!
Fantastic rhythm section. Should deserve more credit but ozzy and Sharon like to pretend they where never there shame on them both. I’m glad lee got his platinum albums before he died R.I.P. lee Kerslake
These two got royally screwed over by Ozz management. They wrote most of the material and lyrics too for Blizzard and DOAM. Some of the best metal lyrics ever put to page
Kerslake didn't write any of the music, it was Daisley and Rhoads. Which is why every Ozzy album after the first two were good but not monumental, the songwriting just wasn't there.
@@Slickmickyoyo97 Jake and Daisley were just as good, especially the stuff on Ultimate Sin like Killer of Giants and Thank God for the Bomb. It's what gave Ozzy his first platinum record of the 80's, which not even Daisley and Rhoads could achieve.
@@stevenbacakos Today, yes. Back in the 80’s, no. Blizzard and Diary were getting outsold by the Dio Black Sabbath albums in the early 80’s. Lee and Daisley were the ones who put Ozzy ahead of Dio and Sabbath with Bark at the Moon & Ultimate Sin. Ultimate Sin was his first ever album to go platinum. The others went platinum at the end of the 80’s.
It is amazing how he was able to make that spacey sound with a set of drums. He had so much music inside of him. He was great, he really made it happen.
Ozzy must have been mad to get rid of these guys! If they didn't want to tour, keep them around for studio work and take the other guys out on the road. But don't lose the magic you have with these wizards! Can't imagine the writing sessions with Aldridge and Sarzo...
Those first 2 records are NOTHING without these 2 guys. They're the ones that made it happen. They did a lot of the writing; they weren't just hired guns. They've been literally shit on by Sharon, while Ozzy did and does NOTHING about it.
too much depth on that reverb for drums id dial that back a hair and how is it on there is it seperated from the dry signal or blended on to it? should be smaller reverb basically is all more of a studio live room size that sounds like an arena sized reverb

RIP, Lee. Your work isn't forgotten despite Sharrrrron's efforts to erase it.
I met Lee way back in the early 70's and was still friends with him until he passed away 😔 😢 RIP my friend 😔 😇 🙏 🙏 🙏#chicagogroupie70s
Sharon sucks, she ruined everything, even Black Sabbath’s history especially everything that came after Ozzy was fired.
No rhythm section will EVER pocket this song like Kerslake and Daisley.
These guys are absolute MONSTERS of rock royalty.
Ozzy's best rhythm section - totally in sync, great feel.
Light years above Aldridge and Sarzo
@@freepressright I think Rudy and Tommy did really well actually, but these are the guys who wrote the parts.
@Spoons Tommy and Rudy were fine musicians, but they didn't reproduce the groove and feel of Bob and Lee. The pocket was those guys best friend.
@@freepressright That's fair. I personally think Rudy added a lot of flair for the live shows. They're all excellent musicians IMO.
Kerslake was so good on this album. And apparently helped write some of the melodies. Incredible.
Bob Daisley, and Lee Kerslake were both awesome
RIP. You could calibrate a metronome to this track yet there’s still calamity, pure magic in all those timeless tracks!

One of the greatest rhythm sections in rock music.... Bob’s song writing... awesome!
I am a guitarist but always really REALLY loved the drums on this song. Bob is also a beast.

The basic tracks are so simple yet so effective.

Yes Kerslake did write /contribute to the bulk of DOAM

It's called "reverb" for short, and the studio engineer adds it.
@@gavinvalentino6002It's in his phrasings.
RIP, Lee 🙁
I've always loved this bass line.
Thanks for this. I can practice playing along now
Totally cool! I got all of Randy's parts right on my air guitar.
Solid as stone, with flashes of beautiful complexity. Also the song with Randy's best solo, imho.
RIP Lee!! Love you playing Man!!!
R.I.P. Lee Kerslake 🌹 🥁
Always expect Randy to walk in at some point.
RIP LEE!!!
I wish we could get releases of most albums that are just drum & bass!
I love it, kicks ass, Mark sorensen
Kick ass guys 🤘🤘.

Respect to you Lee K. Yes.

Sharon has Ozzy by the balls.
You literally have no clue what the word "literally" actually means, moron.
Legends.
Simply genius
Wicked drumming
Awesome!!!!
Amazing Idea
Can we have an un reverbed version?
They thought they were in a band with Ozzy and Randy.
Should have stayed that way in my opinion.
They would've been the best trios and probably randy wouldn't never died.
👍👍
How did you remove the guitar and vocals, that's amazing!!
Hi, you find the isolated tracks on youtube. I just put them together with Audacity.
@@LYFDDT Sweet, you did a great Job!!

English is not my first language. I added the reverb before uploading. The original tracks are much drier.
@@LYFDDT gotcha its not that it's bad it's that the size of the reverb is very large is all
