The fastest bow run is by @Nekogami_kuroha and it's 6:07 min
Babe wake up, TheGameconomist posted a new mhw video
Don't get deceived by charge blade being the fourth fastest weapon on the speedrun list, Fatalis is actually a terrible matchup for CB. I say this even though I have killed over 100 fatalises solo with CB, and even did a few heroics run, the matchup is just not fun. Multiplayer is even worse since your axe upswing will send ppl flying, without the up-down spam, CB is just worthless in this fight.
For solo speed running I guess. Fatalis doesn’t have long openings in his attacks to be effective with savage axe mode. Once one of his horns is broken I just SAED him to death.
Hope you get back to mh wilds, you had a rocky begining on world but nobody knew anything about meta at the time so thanks for every video and always improving as a content creator and as a hunter :3
These videos are here to sort of get me back into the swing of things
@@TheGameconomistthe reason for smoke bombs is to make sure fatalis goes down cause it flying in the air (if fatalis never flies then it’s modded) so they can go for its juicy head. Also SAED for CB doesn’t do good damage for fatalis especially when the whole fight is bout breaking its head so they go for savage axe aka the pizza cutter
still cant believe that u came back
The depressing reason why Hammer and Hunting Horn are such bad matchups for Fatalis is not just because his head is never low enough to land good blows for most of the weapons' movesets but also because Capcom decided to make Fatalis flat out immune to KO damage.
Speaking as a Hammer main, it's an absurd handicap to give an already underused weapon that already isn't a good match up and basically tells us "Don't even bother with Hammer" :')
Yea it’s lame why do it to the final boss
@@TheGameconomist I heard someone say it was to counter sticky builds
Hammer is one of the best weapons in this game to destroy his Evil Eye, im speaking about real Fight/Hunt not a hacked "speedrun"
Can't emphasis how cool it is to see you back and covering Monster Hunter. You were my go-to back in MHW's early years.
What happened to you? Welcome back
I think the Greatsword user is just using a random pod to shorten the big damage combo with the slinger burst
Great detail thanks!
@@TheGameconomistits evasion mantle since when you dodge an attack or roar it gives an attack increase. It’s all bout that attack for GS also it’s aerial attack got nerf and an mount won’t be helpful in this run for GS. Since GS needs to lands those TCS on the head while in the LS case since it was pinned no mount could be triggered
For the GS part, The assassins creed mantle only triggers if you stay in the smoke long enough so it makes your map purple 20:09 hence making the TCS a “Sneak attack”. He used it early on just to make advantage of the extra movement speed (correct me if im wrong). Also, the dung pod is only for slinger tcs. Its covenient and weird but it works!
Feels like time machine running back 6 years ago :)
im surprised this is uploaded very recently. coincidentally, i came back to World last week specifically for Fatalis and solo'd it for the first time.
The dung pods on GS are used for the slinger burst TCS combo to get to TCS faster. That’s why he’s using them. It doesn’t do anything to fatalis. Also smoke bombs are used to manipulate fatalis’s AI to achieve optimal attack openings and enemy placement.
Oh and the poison can potentially be used to do percentage damage but that’s not the purpose, the purpose is to get fatalis to back up as the AI will cause him to back out of the smoke to avoid getting poisoned. It’s for positioning.
The man who made me a better hunter, missed your smooth voice😢
trusting PC speedruns to be legit with absolutely no shenanigans is like trusting crypto bros to double or triple retirement funds...
Wow long time no hear, Gameeconomist! Glad to have you back. I hope you stick around for Wilds, we need your guides
Getting Fatalis to have the head stuck in that rock is pretty much a scripted thing, very easy to do once you know how to. For it to work the first character that Fatalis chooses to attack has to be to the direction of the binder. In multiplayer lobbies it’s well know that everybody should run for the tall rock in front of the balista binder after the gate. The one that will do the binder should avoid the roar by rockstead, earplugs, or dodging, waiting so Fatalis starts the animation of rotating to target a player, and shoot. It will always fall with his head in the same spot. What occasionally goes wrong is someone not being in the right direction or shooting binder too soon.
In the Greatsword run dungpod is being used to shorten tsc without needing stones. Gs can’t used dragon pods for shorter tsc as it makes Fatalis flinch, and there are only 3 stone resources in the map, and you don’t always get past any of them. Carrying dungpods to use after you spend your stones in a wallbang is a very good practice.
Someone who’s struggling to fight Fatalis should never consider a heroics build. They should probably avoid speedrunners build at all because they are all focused on offense and optimization without defensive skills, since if they fail something they will just reset the hunt and start again. Not being picky, but just found fun that you thought someone fighting Fatalis would consider using an heroics build.
You can’t break the head during any of the locked animations. That means binder, balista knockdown, head break knockdown and nova landings, I think. Fatalis head will still take part breaker damage during those animations, and will break with just 1 of damage if the damage threshold is already crossed. That’s actually used in multiplayer runs where people do enough damage to get the second headbreak, but avoid breaking it until the headbreak is more useful. In GS only runs it’s very common to get the first headbreak in phase 1, do enough damage for the second head break during the balista knockdown, and then focus on chest during the rest of phase 2, so you get the second headbreak after binder in phase 3.
Technically Gunlance has the fastest Fatalis kill with 2min 58sec.
Can’t be counting glitches though
Just remember that not all but most speed runners are exploiting the AI of the game, you can see the cheating by the speed of attack, the fact that some attacks are not present and the frequency of punishable attacks. The average players are never going to have the same experience.
Assassin's Mantle makes your next attack do more damage to a monster that's unaware of your presence, just like the new sneak attacks on Wilds.
However, it's most likely used here because it has a great uptime and good slot decos, and it doesn't go away if you hit a monster that is already fighting you.
Not a huge fan of DB, but that player is a master! Fun to watch that one.
Smoke bombs work for keeping him on the ground and if you use in a group, it works as long as no one steps out of smoke
I have to say that I disagree wholeheartedly that “noone knows the game better than speed runners.” However, this is a fun video anyway; and there are for sure some insights that can be gleaned from watching speed runs and the speed-running community.
Damn didnt watch a vid of you for years. Your voice sounds a little cracked but overall you sound a million times happier than back in the day.
If you are doing good im glad for you.
I remember when the scope first came out and i tried so hard to make it work. Absolutely hated that thing.
I'm going to be honest. If the speed run is done on PC, I'll immediately assume they cheated.
Especially when you don’t know the monster attack patterns that much hence why if you see alatreaon doesn’t fly during an run then it’s modded
@nicholasmarquez3399 exactly. I mean, I've hunted every monster a few times, but I surely don't possess a spreadsheet telling me which move is possible in which phase and how likely each of them are. I just noticed that monsters behaved somewhat suspicious during some speedruns, and that kills my entire enjoyment of them.
Ended up doing a fatalis heroics speedrun with gs and hbg with similar times, hbg is meh cause spread 3 is lame but the gs speedrun was so fun, i just found a group of randoms that needed an extra man and bam in 1 session we got a 4:30 sr
do you think you'd cover ta wiki valid speedruns specifically so it isnt accounting for things like smokebombs or other cheese that scripts the fight almost entirely and its like a "normal fight" matchup tier list?
Interesting idea
Back in MH 1 on PS2 HBG was also a top weapon for killing fatalis
the IG speedruner actually had in his Description, that he still takes almost a minute longer than the WR
Seems RUclips didn’t want to show me the wr then
@@TheGameconomist maybe it just isn't on Yt, have you looked at Bilibili? That's where a lot of japanese speed runners post!
Fatalis cannot get KO'd unfortunately. Also it might be a good familiarize yourself with the general meta sets at the end of Iceborne. The players are using either Fatalis armor for the 2 and/or 4 piece setbonus or AT Velkhana for the 4 piece setbonus Frostcraft.
I did enjoy this video btw.
boqueelis has a 4’55” gs run
Sword and shield is using a frost build from armor.
Lol, Relial bullied that dragon.
No intro audio 😢
Criminal
Do Safi next!!!
rlly great video but that light mode has to go brother 😭😭
Thanks good point
missed Gameconomist monster hunter vids, i should have followed your lead with Rise.... trash
I'm at Fatalis but not sure what to use on him
Best weapon against fatalis? Easy... Snowman
Aw what happed to "Gotchaa" at the start of video 😢
Mustve rendered wrong
Also recently alot of people have been modding "cheating" to get perfect runs ao have to watch out for funny monster behaviour, I watched a whole video on.
Also clutch claw boost means light weapons like the SnS can make a weak spot o saynthe head after 1 clutch claw tenderisation instead of having to do 2.
@@LegendMillzzyeah like alatreaon not flying during an run
Hi mister
