Hello sir, I am working on snow melting pavements. The application will be in snow prone regions of india like jammu kashmir, himachal pradesh etc . In this situation, should i conduct the test at 25 °C or shall i conduct it at 5-10 °C. Will the same procedure applicable if i conduct it at 5-10 °C.
sir i am confused with horizontal (is it across loading axis or perpendicular to it) deformation while calculating tensile strain(if possible please provide setup photo) and from which code did we get this equation.
This test is to evaluate the effect of water saturation and laboratory accelerated stripping in a bituminous mix. Therefore higher air voids are needed to allow the water penetration in the sample. 7 percent air voids are specified in AASHTO code to optimize this phenomenon. The test is conducted at OBC only, but with lesser number of blows so as to achieve 7 % air voids.
Sir I am confuse How many Air voids %for ITS . For ITS -7%per ASTM D 6931air voids you give me ans on my comment today. For TSR -ITS test 7% air voids For Mr value test ITS? Given in formula 11.08*ITS-3015.8 & 1.1991*ITS+1170 in IRC 37-2018 sir Pls short out my confusen. ITS -? Tsr -?(ITS) Mr -?
There is no confusion. Refer IRC 111, 2009 on Specifications for DBM. It gives the procedure of determining ITS and TSR as suggested in AASHTO T283. Air Voids for ITS and TSR should be 7 percent + - 0.5 The Equation given in IRC 37 relating Mr with ITS should never be used as there is practically no correlation between these two parameters. Their testing procedure and test conditions are completely different.
Nice and informative video sir, thank you so much
Thanks, keep watching
Very informative video sir
Thanks
Very informative lecture sir. Thank you !
Thanks for liking. Please share the link with your friends also.
Sir, very informative! I was searching for a lecturer on this test.
Glad it was helpful! Keep watching
Respected Sir, Nice lecture 👍
Thanks a lot, keep watching
Sir please upload lectures on Rcc minor/major bridges
Sorry sir, I am not touching that area of structures.
Sir....how to measure horizontal deformation....what instrument is used...plz reply 😢😢
LVDT is used to measure the deformation
Hello sir....is there any alternative...if vaccum container is not available in the laboratory
NO
Hello sir,

Or if not 25°C, than on what basis should i decide the testing temperature. Please suggest
Test temperature will be the same but conditioning of specimen should be through freeze and thaw process.
sir i am confused with horizontal (is it across loading axis or perpendicular to it) deformation while calculating tensile strain(if possible please provide setup photo) and from which code did we get this equation.
It is perpendicular to the load on circumference of the specimen. For calculation of ITS, this strain is not needed, you need failure load only.

Sir, why we take 7% air void not any other percentage of air void? Or why test is not done in Obc?

Sir, How do we prepare the unconditioned samples?
Do we have to cure the sample in oven at 60°C for 16h
NO, Keep it at room temperature and then place in a water bath at 25 C for 2 hours before testing.
@@SatishIITR ok sir, What about the air voids content in the sample?
Is it corresponding to OBC or 7% air voids?
