- The Feast of San Gennaro is among the most popular Italian heritage festivals in America taking place in New York City for ten days in Mid September annually. We know that the Mafia has always loved making money and to the surprise of no one they have been very involved in getting their hands in multiple money pots when it comes to the Feast committing extortion and many other crimes. It's said that the Genovese Crime Family has controlled it since the 1960's.

Might be to do with the cigar club advert
It makes sense that the Genovese family is involved since many of its leaders are/were of Neapolitan descent. If you watch Abel Ferrara's very well made 2010 documentary "Mulberrry St" you'll see some of the people running the San Gennaro feast complaining that it was cheaper when the mob ran it and now that it's run by the city it's much more expensive. Economic policies also lead to higher prices as we well know (reckless spending, printing money, interest rate adjustments, etc.) from the inflation of the last 3 years and the consumer always pays the penalty.
Frankie yale is the quintessential modern mob guy with no zip ties just gangster
What does that have to do with this video?
My father uses to have 2 or 3 games there. I think you had to pay for your lights too. I remember them coming out of the church and had the gambling money bags on their shoulders . My father used to give them the rent money and the guy didn’t even count it. He threw it with all the other bundles of money in the corner. My father knew somebody so he didn’t have to pay the extra money that they asker for . My dad had the game you can win a parakeet bird. That was in the 80s.
I went at San Gennaro Feast last friday night and saw John Delutro working hard in his pasta stand
Hey Jeff, my ex wife and I went to Manhattan back in Sept 2016. We went to Little Italy and, unbeknownst to us at the time, the San Gennaro festival was going on. One restaurant we ate at was called La Mela. I remember the guys in there saying “you seen like Goodfellas, Casino?” He then said “this place is like that” but he said it like real low key, like he was trying not to say it out loud. Later on, I read some stuff on the history of the place, I think it used to be a Genovese spot? Idk if that’s accurate, or what it was at the time. I do know the guys were great hosts, the food was some of the best I’ve ever had, the festival was awesome, and we went back down to Little Italy every day we were in Manhattan.
san gennaro is great... thanks for your kindness
Very interesting. "Tony Waterguns" is one hell of a nickname. That's a new one for me. Thx for the knowledge my youtube friend. Btw, that picture of Gigante's mug shot behind you is dope!
It could've been worse. Imagine if his moniker was Dick Trickle. 😮
If you go to the Feast go see The Canolli King if you want the Best Canolli Ever it’s Cafe Palermo on Mulberry St right off of Grand St. Plus he has a Bunch of other Stands with Great Food Mention My name and you will get a good Conversation about the Neighborhood and the History of the Feast! Jackie Bonds.
Absolutely CORRECT Brother 🙏🏼
100% on the best cannoli!
@@zanevolk6810 yea he’s incredible Baby John the Cannoli King!
You have been dropping absolute bangers Jeff, great work!
Appreciate it!
I worked San Gennaro feast for a few years and still have friends who are involved in the feast. The days of mob control are over, the city has their greedy hands in the feast and makes it almost impossible for the businesses to make $$$. There is no more meat on the bone since the city has gotten involved. They made it a city festival. Its less Italian every year and almost nothing religious about it as well. The use of Credit cards has diminished the "skimming" significantly as well.
Absolutely informative, great show as usual Jeff👊 keep up the great work
good show as usual
thanks Jerry
It’s ridiculous that the government is focused on the Italians when there’s animals out here these days
Thanks!
thanks for your kindness brother
Great info as usual. You taught me a great deal about this festival, info that I wasn’t aware of. I haven’t gone in years, but I used to go all the time. Very interested to see whatever piece you do about Giuliani‘s family connection to the mob.
Been waiting all day to watch this it's 2am now lol
Make a video breaking down how and where all this info comes from
I've been going to the SG feast for 45yrs, (including today) and DaNico since day one. All i can say is, Perri (& Nico) is a great restaurateur, and SI'er. (His block is def the safest) tho i did enjoy my clams, sauzich, zepps, espresso & cannoli, the feast is a sad shadow of what it was. Look at Rudy today. Tho i did once win a stuffed octopus at the watergun game. 🦑💧
Awesome work mate
Perry was not the friendliest. I met him at Pellegrino’s in the 80’s and my friend knew his uncle Bullseye. He told me to say hello to Perry and he was a total creep.
Hi Jeff, just to comment on your comment: I think the wives do bare some culpability. In the UK and Ireland the law is starting to catch up on this. Living of the proceeds of crime, money laundering, tax evasion and fraudulently claiming benefits are crimes. And most of the time they do have a choice.
Its just a war on family not threats to society and i think it stinks
Big hello from south London
The Mob every couple hours brings the statue around the back of church and takes all money , Vinny the chin was the Head of the Feast, it’s the Gambino’s who run that feast ..
I know that San Gennaro was being run by Gambinos in places like Florida to which I was there and Las Vegas.
Good show after good show .👍
Glad you enjoyed it
It needs some Gambino cigars
I saw john pennisi and paul smith eating there
They filmed Donnie brasco down there
