You'll learn that Aurora live is usually better than the album versions. That's not to say the album versions aren't amazing. It's just that no two live performances of any track she performs live are ever the same. Watching her connect to her music while singing with not only her voice but with her whole body is an experience that you just can't get fully from an "official video", it makes her tracks, in my opinion, just way more powerful. There's no shortage of live performance videos of Aurora, be they professionally shot or the amazing fan recordings in the crowd, from short 1 offs, to usually full performances. l discovered Aurora less than 2 years ago, and I'm practically obsessed with her now. Her entire catalog is phenomenal. She's utterly special and unique. Otherworldly. Like an ethereal woodland fairy princess. Angelic. She is pure art. And as amazing as her talent and music are, she is also a deliciously quirky, strange, wickedly funny, sweet, empathetic, and smart human. I'd like to see your reaction to the full KEXP Iceland concert. (There are 2 KEXP performances. The Iceland performance is the best) It's only like 5 or 6 songs, but it's one of the best live performances in a small setting. You already know all of the songs in the concert, so I think you should be ready for it. You get to see many different sides of Aurora, and she does a lot of dancing. You really get to see her personality in the KEXP Iceland concert.
She's a singer, author, interpreter, entertainer, comedian, dancer, everything. Such a beautiful and funny person. And you are both too! Really loving these reactions, really enjoyable and genuine. And yes she does change her songs a lot, and spontaneously. She's really smart and quick with it too. Here live in Argentina, in one of her songs she repeats the verse "I love you", but at some point she smiled and realized it would still fit in Spanish and started singing "Te amo" instead, and just like that she won us over (Well to be honest she already had us).

Yes. She mentioned in an interview that at this Vevo performance she had a head cold. There are times that you can hear her breath in through her mouth ... not the usual. But, she pushed through and Nailed It !!!
There is nobody like Aurora and she always sounds amazing. After being at her show here in London at the Royal Albert Hall I can say that she sounds perfect live, she is just so interesting and I love that you never know what she will say next, she just says whatever she’s thinking about in that moment. Love her!
Another awesome Aurora reaction! I really love your passion and enthusiasm. It's great watching you get to know this wonderful artist. Hopefully, at some point you'll find the time to watch the entire HAIK documentary/concert. In the concert portion is probably her most popular version of "The Seed," and also probably the most powerful. It's pretty much the opposite of this delicate version. That's one of the great things about Aurora, is she's not afraid to change things up. There's the album version, which has to be exactly how she wants the definitive version, and then there's the live versions, which are whatever she feels like doing at the time.
Many of the live performances present a softer, acoustic version compared to the album track. Also her band sing backing vocals n the live versions, whereas it is all Aurora on her albums. She also plays some instruments on the albums, but have only seen her live on piano and guitar when she was in school. I think there will be other voices on her next album though. Aurora isn’t always perfect live. She will sometimes forget the words and her fans have to help her out or she makes up different lyrics. This always seems very genuine and makes the event more special.
I think it’s amazing when artist forget their lyrics because they’re so caught up in the moment of being live, and the fans are always there to help. I went to a Mumford & Sons concert and the lead singer forgot the words in the whole crowd the whole stadium saying it to him, and he actually started tearing up. It was so sweet.
She stumbled on the lyrics to "The River" when I saw her live last October 😄. Just added to the experience. I was nervous her voice would be a bit tired after touring, but she sounded amazing. She sometimes just forgets the lyrics, but she also has a lifelong history of zoning out. I think I've heard she's fond of watching her audience, and sometimes forget because of that as well. I love your enthusiasm and wonder at her performances! One of the things I like about her so much is her willingness to change a song seemingly on the fly. This iteration of her band with Freddy on guitar, Magnus on drums and vocals and Silja Sol on second guitar and backing vocals was my favorite. They covered The Beatles’ “Across the Universe” and the harmonies were wonderful! Keep up the Aurora journey!
Same here. Saw her at the Lincoln Theater in DC. A 1200 seat venue and I was 4th row almost center stage. Was on my bucket list and exceeded my expectation!
Right on! I've been basically devoring everything I can listen to of hers. She has one of the purist voices I've ever heard, and her music connects with my soul. Try her covers. Teardrop by Massive Attack will blow you away. I think it's better than the original.

Hi Ashlena ! Wow, even I haven't heard this version before and I have to admit, it is one of the most beautiful of this song, I have heard so far. Everything is just mesmerizing... the voices, the harmonies, the "stripped down" arrangement... simply everything ! You haven't reacted to any of the countless covers Aurora recorded so far, have you ? I can only recommend to react tom these, as well. But if you don't know the originals, I would advice you to listen to the original first and then compare it to Aurora's arrangement... believe me, you will be speechless ! When it comes to covers, Aurora is a bit like King Midas... everything she touches (musically), turns to gold ! Try out her rendition of the David Bowie classic "Life on Mars ?" (originally from 1974), performed live at Nidarosdomen... but if you don't know the original, please listen to it first, before comparing it to Aurora's version... just to see what Aurora makes out of it. God is a woman (Ariana Grande) Walking in the air (Howard Blake) also fron Nidarosdomen concert ! Rasputin (Boney M) (note : only 15 minutes time to prepare and perform this cover version !) This and the HAIK performance of the seed are equally so epic that I can never choose a favourite! After you react to her latest album I also really recommend the vevo performances for the songs on it cause you really get to see her voice mature and somehow get even better!
@ashlena i giggled because your articulated thoughts about how versatile and astonishing she interprets her own songs are very similar to mine. at some point you will have to watch a documentary. haik is special. but also once aurora with a follow up discussion with her. it's filmed by friends of her. also a lot of interviews of all sorts. even a psychologist had a one hour session with her.
Not seen this version before. She sings in the moment, every performance changes. That is why live is best. Aurora is different, in all ways. Every composition, every arrangement, different. She sees the world in a different way, hence her extraordinary lyrics. Add in her wide knowledge and high intelligence and we have a treasure.
Please use some good headphones, if you can, just a word of advice, so you don't lose any of the "sound picture". She's also a record producer, you know. Looking forward to your reactions to everything from the Cathedral, live KEXP Island, HIKE and other Aurora treats. "Lucky" you are to find this treasure, but this is also a song by Aurora. Your reactions are calm, genuine and sweet as Canadian maple syrup :)
Ah, I love her too and yes of course we'll all be here for your journey. This version is very nice and slower. My absolute favorite version of it is the one at HAIK, which I'm sure you'll see at one point :)

You are correct in that Aurora is truly amazing in a live setting - like this with a small compliment of musicians, with only an accompanist ... and by herself on keyboard. She not only gets the arrangement to sound almost like a new song, but she tailors her vocals to fit perfectly. You asked if she ever misses notes or phrases - oh for certain she does. But, even as she has said in interviews, the performance is the main goal. To tell her 'stories' and to best present 'her babies' to the audience is her aim. I know you liked 'Forgotten Love' a lot from the album. Please have a listen it in a really intimate setting in 2018 in a Brazilan radio studio - I think that you'll love it. There is also a one-sided (interviewer voice is muffled) that is revealing. Aurora canta 'Forgotten love' no Brasil
She gets a bit pitchy during real live performances, but none of us care. She is usually dancing or running around in the flow. You’ll see what I mean. You gotta listen to the “produced” stuff with a badass pair of giant headphones…last mention of the headphones, promise…maybe?😉✂️
I loved your reaction. I agree Aurora is incredible. And Aurora change her songs or make several versions very often. She is just art and spontaneous. Also she does not like to rehearse - small minus is that I saw some instances that she forgot lyrics because of it + also she change songs on concert sometimes in last moment, f. E. because fan asked her about it. And I even saw situation that she wanted start next song in concert but someone in crowd shouted title of the song and she said "ok" but i need to make this song acapela (as someone on keyboard was absent in that moment) ;-). And she made it (it was cover of Nature Boy).
Makes me happy to know you are loving Aurora. So much to see and hear from this special human being. Will follow along with your discovering her amazing genius. A great early performance to start with is her at the 2016 Nobel Peace prize concert. But honest to god anything she does is freaking magical. Will enjoy you enjoying this journey!

I can think of only ONE time I've ever heard her sing off key. Well...other than the time she tried to sing happy birthday to an audience member while having a cold. There's video of that and it's too funny. But the only actual time...was when she sang Soulless Creatures with the Bergen Orchestra. It's hands down one of my top 5 Aurora live performances. And juust before she goes into the bridge "chanting" part her voice wavers and goes off pitch. It's like half a second at most...and you can tell that Aurora can tell it happened. But she just plows through and it literally doesn't even matter. It sounds perfect regardless. Now.....forgetting lyrics live? She does that all...the...time. And we love her for it. She is human after all. ;P
Aurora sings “Nature Boy”, a song by Nat King Cole accapella after a fan calls out for this song. It’s spontaneous and sublime. Also....she changes up the songs live not an insignificant amount of time. _Some_ songs I prefer the album version...like Apple Tree and Winter Bird. But the version of Lucky and Under Stars and Little Boy in the Grass and Soft Universe that she did at Nidarosdomen....are _the_ versions of those songs for me. The studio versions are fine...they're good...but those Nidarosdomen versions are what I _actually_ listen to. Those are the songs to me.

There is nobody like Aurora and she always sounds amazing. After being at her show here in London at the Royal Albert Hall I can say that she sounds perfect live, she is just so interesting and I love that you never know what she will say next, she just says whatever she’s thinking about in that moment. Love her!

Hopefully, at some point you'll find the time to watch the entire HAIK documentary/concert. In the concert portion is probably her most popular version of "The Seed," and also probably the most powerful. It's pretty much the opposite of this delicate version. That's one of the great things about Aurora, is she's not afraid to change things up. There's the album version, which has to be exactly how she wants the definitive version, and then there's the live versions, which are whatever she feels like doing at the time.
I will definitely dive into the documentaries. The live performances the covers. I’m gonna try to do it all, even if it takes forever.

Many of the live performances present a softer, acoustic version compared to the album track. Also her band sing backing vocals n the live versions, whereas it is all Aurora on her albums. She also plays some instruments on the albums, but have only seen her live on piano and guitar when she was in school. I think there will be other voices on her next album though. Aurora isn’t always perfect live. She will sometimes forget the words and her fans have to help her out or she makes up different lyrics. This always seems very genuine and makes the event more special.
I think it’s amazing when artist forget their lyrics because they’re so caught up in the moment of being live, and the fans are always there to help. I went to a Mumford & Sons concert and the lead singer forgot the words in the whole crowd the whole stadium saying it to him, and he actually started tearing up. It was so sweet.
She stumbled on the lyrics to "The River" when I saw her live last October 😄. Just added to the experience. I was nervous her voice would be a bit tired after touring, but she sounded amazing. She sometimes just forgets the lyrics, but she also has a lifelong history of zoning out. I think I've heard she's fond of watching her audience, and sometimes forget because of that as well. I love your enthusiasm and wonder at her performances! One of the things I like about her so much is her willingness to change a song seemingly on the fly. This iteration of her band with Freddy on guitar, Magnus on drums and vocals and Silja Sol on second guitar and backing vocals was my favorite. They covered The Beatles’ “Across the Universe” and the harmonies were wonderful! Keep up the Aurora journey!

Same here. Saw her at the Lincoln Theater in DC. A 1200 seat venue and I was 4th row almost center stage. Was on my bucket list and exceeded my expectation!

Hi Ashlena ! Wow, even I haven't heard this version before and I have to admit, it is one of the most beautiful of this song, I have heard so far. Everything is just mesmerizing... the voices, the harmonies, the "stripped down" arrangement... simply everything ! You haven't reacted to any of the countless covers Aurora recorded so far, have you ? I can only recommend to react tom these, as well. But if you don't know the originals, I would advice you to listen to the original first and then compare it to Aurora's arrangement... believe me, you will be speechless ! When it comes to covers, Aurora is a bit like King Midas... everything she touches (musically), turns to gold !
Try out her rendition of the David Bowie classic "Life on Mars ?" (originally from 1974), performed live at Nidarosdomen... but if you don't know the original, please listen to it first, before comparing it to Aurora's version... just to see what Aurora makes out of it.

@ashlena i giggled because your articulated thoughts about how versatile and astonishing she interprets her own songs are very similar to mine. at some point you will have to watch a documentary. haik is special. but also once aurora with a follow up discussion with her. it's filmed by friends of her. also a lot of interviews of all sorts. even a psychologist had a one hour
session with her.
Not seen this version before. She sings in the moment, every performance changes. That is why live is best.
Aurora is different, in all ways. Every composition, every arrangement, different. She sees the world in a different way, hence her extraordinary lyrics. Add in her wide knowledge and high intelligence and we have a treasure.

You are correct in that Aurora is truly amazing in a live setting - like this with a small compliment of musicians, with only an accompanist ... and by herself on keyboard. She not only gets the arrangement to sound almost like a new song, but she tailors her vocals to fit perfectly. You asked if she ever misses notes or phrases - oh for certain she does. But, even as she has said in interviews, the performance is the main goal. To tell her 'stories' and to best present 'her babies' to the audience is her aim. I know you liked 'Forgotten Love' a lot from the album. Please have a listen it in a really intimate setting in 2018 in a Brazilan radio studio - I think that you'll love it. There is also a one-sided (interviewer voice is muffled) that is revealing. Aurora canta 'Forgotten love' no Brasil

She gets a bit pitchy during real live performances, but none of us care. She is usually dancing or running around in the flow. You’ll see what I mean. You gotta listen to the “produced” stuff with a badass pair of giant headphones…last mention of the headphones, promise…maybe?😉✂️

I loved your reaction. I agree Aurora is incredible. And Aurora change her songs or make several versions very often. She is just art and spontaneous. Also she does not like to rehearse - small minus is that I saw some instances that she forgot lyrics because of it + also she change songs on concert sometimes in last moment, f. E. because fan asked her about it. And I even saw situation that she wanted start next song in concert but someone in crowd shouted title of the song and she said "ok" but i need to make this song acapela (as someone on keyboard was absent in that moment) ;-). And she made it (it was cover of Nature Boy).

I can think of only ONE time I've ever heard her sing off key.
Well...other than the time she tried to sing happy birthday to an audience member while having a cold. There's video of that and it's too funny. But the only actual time...was when she sang Soulless Creatures with the Bergen Orchestra. It's hands down one of my top 5 Aurora live performances. And juust before she goes into the bridge "chanting" part her voice wavers and goes off pitch. It's like half a second at most...and you can tell that Aurora can tell it happened. But she just plows through and it literally doesn't even matter. It sounds perfect regardless.
Now.....forgetting lyrics live? She does that all...the...time. And we love her for it. She is human after all. ;P

_Some_ songs I prefer the album version...like Apple Tree and Winter Bird. But the version of Lucky and Under Stars and Little Boy in the Grass and Soft Universe that she did at Nidarosdomen....are _the_ versions of those songs for me. The studio versions are fine...they're good...but those Nidarosdomen versions are what I _actually_ listen to. Those are the songs to me.
