I love Life's playstyle so much. He plays guerrilla warfare with zerg's mobility and taps away at this opponent's defenses, then once a crack opens, he just shifts into high gear and punches it. Such a treat to watch (but I still love you too, Naniwa
You've just won IEM New York! Well done! Now come up here on stage and collect your reward. Cool. Now... Because you've won... You get to stand around awkwardly with an oversize cheque while people dance around you and pat you on the back. That's how we treat champions here at IEM!
seems Naniwa has a good personality. At the end of the 5th game, Naniwa typed ''gratz'' for his opponent while Life did proxy hatcheries or so-called manner hatcheries. I watched the grand-final in search of Life's games but I got to like Naniwa.
as a zerg player its really exciting to watch life's games. his game sence is on a such high level. these strange combinations of units, like queens-infestors-ultralisks, oh my.. naniwa also played quite good. p.s. that trophy is so small, lol
some body queen ultralisk infestor is a well known army comp that kills most protoss armies unless toss knows about it well beforehand and spams immortals.
some body it's hard to pull it off. its one of the few army comp that requires zerg to play lategame, instead of disrupting toss at mid game. most toss will harass and macro well enough to gain their deathball faster with multiple bases for toss just working so much better in their favor. but yes i agree that it is his incredible game sense that allows him to pull off many victories (although often overly aggressive, but that's just the trait of most of successful z players)
some body Not sure it is game sense though or just an ability to control units while macroing perfectly. Naniwa's first game is a classic example of the opposite, he gets a great lead but totally blows it because of lack of army control and presence. Life just seems to be able to blindly macro and be totally aware and busy with his units at all times.
What an amazing game. Loved the attempt at cheeky proxy hatches by Life. Sue's song at the end is the cherry on the best series I've followed so far. What a great host! This series had everything! Naniwa was an amazing European, as well!
Lance armstrong as one example raised almost 500 million dollars for supporting people with cancer. Name a pro gamer that has donated even a fraction of that amount to ANY charity.
Crazy to believe that this was 10 years ago! I remember watching this life and was really rooting for Naniwa but back in that time, Koreans were unstoppable.
Crazy to think this has been played "only" 3 years ago... I mean that is Naniwa arguably in his Prime and Life even before he became the best player in the world (and the G.O.A.T., imo - sry MVP Fans). This feels like it happened 10 years ago.
Life: Japan has its tech and anime too at least we are not like some white people where the poor or those with no family ties, the lucky ones at least end up in third world countries, hopefully when he gets old Naniwa will not end up as one of these losers and end up marrying third world wife to take care of him. Who then is the master and who is the servant US or Europe, we will never know but as far as we Koreans are concerned we prevent our citizens from going and marrying in third world countries because it teaches them corruption and when they have children or come back to Korea they are tainted by this weakness and high standards that they cannot compete with the best of the best in Korea and their corruption weakens our society. Careful my friend at least we put class into our educational system you and Jon Stewart might think that you are sitting us but with China rising and Japan suddenly got a rude awakening holy shit from second largest economy to good knows who, somebody got DUPED Haha!
That game 4.... Poor NaNiwa. Wish I could hug him right there. He should have won. He did win in my eyes. Life is just another Korean. At least NaNiwa has a personality.
What the shit r u talking about rofl. This is about skills. This is competition. I cant understand ur point. If u r a guy and think that u r straight reconsider it. If u r a girl calm ur hormones.
doroza2lol Koreans are better because they play for 16 hours a day like robots. They may know how to play SC2, but watching them on tournaments is boring as fuck, because SC2 is the only thing they can think about and they're always so asian about it: "Oh I respect my opponent and I'll try my best". There are exceptions, like MC, but they're far and between. I'd rather watch a lower grade of SC2, but with some drama attached to it. NaNiwa is a badass, and he played really good in this tournament. I don't blame him for losing against a robot. That's the shit I'm talking about.
Iridar51 U just denied hard work. And u just put Nani to the second league and thats unacceptable for me becouse he can do better. U as his fan should support him and encourage him not by making him the first place by his personality(or his looking, which most of u fans r reffering to). And about that Life is korean is really sad if u think that so. What does he do to earn ur disrespect? Because he is hardworking? Because he is korean? Because he is good? I dont know if he is working 16 h per day, hm and whats the reason to know? Everyone wants to be the best at what they do. U probably have some skills(cooking, writting, drawing, pc gaming etc.) And u want to tell me that polishing ur own skills and reach the top (here in SC2 its just for 1 year) is not a good thing then u sir denied poeples hard work. Their time was wasted their respect is just a bluff that their family aint proud of them. Sir if u think that so u just earned my DISRESPECT.
doroza2lol DISRESPECT? Woe to me, how will I ever live with it. Yes, I deny Life's hard work, because his hard work is insane. Koreans have a different culture, it is acceptable for them to have no life and just sit and do the same thing over and over for hours to no end. NaNiwa could not win this because he does not want to commit ALL of his time to practice, and any sane person from non-asian culture would be the same. SC2 is extremely mechanical game. A robot can play it better than a human, so to win at it, you have to become a robot. Among humans NaNiwa is one of the best, and if he was playing against a human, and not a biorobot Life, he'd win.
Iridar51 Without those NOLIFERS idk if u could have this comfort right now. U think those inventors, artist, writters (without them hitler would have done much worse) doesnt earn respect couse they didnt spend their life as ur vision? Those poeple without a sleep just focused on their work and without this hardwork we would be in the world with slaves with technology that is so simple for us right now. That would put us decades back. This is general thinking not metaphore or what else. And i dont think so that only asians spend their life just for work. Think about what u r trying to deny pls. Because its really a shame that by ur thinking this world would be more fucked then it is now.
Zerg buildings use up the worker that builds them so at the beginning, when he has 10/10 supply, he builds an extractor to drop his supply to 9/10 so he can build another worker, then cancels the extractor(because you don't need gas early as Zerg).
Whoever wins it's gonna be awesome. Naniwa has been always my favorite since the beginning of SC2 and as a zerg player, Life is just incredible. Love them both!
terrible ending of serious event :/...that stage dance, masks, turtles etc...omg...forgot totaly about champion. Also it must have been annoying for introvert to stand there all the time :/
How come all units in Starcraft 2 die within one second, while in brood war they lived much longer and the battlefield was 10x more exciting to watch? Or am I missing something?
Pretty sure he's French. @Frimodig: SC2 is a global sport, not one only played by English speakers. In fact, "foreigner" means non-Korean in SC2. I can understand every single thing he says with no problem so I don't understand the issue.
Too bad as the video gets closer to the end the outcome becomes pretty obvious. They should add filler at the end to make it longer so it isn't as clear.
Naniwa, my favorite player! If he got a good day, he crush everything. And his holdbacks? and forcefields?`my god. The most talented toss player. Coming from an swedish guy, Am tired too see korean wins.
can someone explain to me a new sc2 player why Life always attemps to build (in the very beginning) a gas thing but cancel it again isn't it just minerals waste?
Life does this so called 'double extractor trick' to get more drones than the supply cap. Zerg has to use a drone to make a building so he makes and extractor(gas thing) or two which turns the drone into a building and makes it not count as a supply. Then he makes drones to replace those then he cancels those buildings to get the drone back thus he can get more units than the supply cap.
And so no1 noticed naniwa sulking in the back, how come no1 came to cheer him up and tell him he did gd, jeez, not one fan gave a shout-out to him, rude much
Simonas Morkūnas I saw some late game fails with Zerg, but the commentors pointed out the Zerg player had refused to move from swarm to air in the face of an increasing battlecruiser force. It could also be argued that late game might not be Zerg's strength in the same way I see some Protoss struggle early game to zergling rush. I saw some graphs over time which showed the rise and fall of the three races, with the latest part of the graph looking fairly even
can someone explain, why naniwa didn't just go kill all the overlords in the first game, with his phoenixes? he killed the queens, no spores, no anti air. life practically had nothing at that point, almost no minerals and no extra overlords. Wouldn't naniwa have won if he just kept life supply down at that point?

@@ZC.Andrew In short, he was a sore loser. But still, good memories. Both were phenomenal players.
