The duet at 6 mins is a new sound for this band, adding a new dimension to a band that I already love. Thanks very much. I hope Tuba Skinny include more of this type of material. (What a great overseas tour the band is having!)
John Wagstaffe Let's make it happen.. find the most likely Jazz promoters in the UK and send them a few links..I'll do the same for the ROI..no better time, they'll have the best part of a year to chew on it :)
They just blow me away! These are the 8 I am talking about. "To Me," these 8 people are......."Tuba Skinny!" I have watched many of their videos, but these 8 people are, "Tuba Skinny!"
An amazing talented group of musicians. That coronet player is exceptional, she could rival some of the old timers. She definitely has this music in her soul. In fact they all do.
Oh my goodness, a genre and especially a band has awoken a hidden gene that has filled my life with wonder and pleasure at the sheer unassuming genius of each band member and the group as a band! Please don't stop. Bringing pure delight to someone in the deep, dark south of Africa, South Africa! Thank you!
This is not "Dixieland". This is New Orleans Traditional Jazz. Dixieland is the white imitation of Nawlens Style. Black and white musicians were not allowed to play together. There were two seperate musician's unions. Guess which had the much higher scale. If a black musician played in a white club he sometimes had to go several blocks to find a restroon he was allowed to use. Musically the difference is that Dixieland plays the notes as written. New Orleans Style and the colorblind traditional play the music.
Thank you for posting, and thanks to Alun for filming and for the excellent sound. The wind instruments sound so much better without sound reinforcement.
Immense news for all the many fans who can't get to New Orleans ... Shaye tells me they are touring France for the whole of the coming July. See you there.
Thank you Paul for posting this great video! Thank you Alun Jones for the film! Tuba Skinny "is" New Orleans Jazz!!! Craig Sherman, did a great vocal on the song, "Midnight Hour," Shay and Erika received a bouquet of flowers at the conclusion of the performance!
Damn that last song brought a tear to my eye! Well to both of them actually :) I'd so love to see these talented people perform live, but living in a cave in the far frozen north of Scotland, that is highly unlikely sob sob
David Mackay Shaye tells me they're touring France the whole of the coming July......... Greetings from a fellow troglodyte.....my caves are in andalucia .
Hey Paul, I have also to say "Classe" for the posting of the proformants at the Breda, BRAVO but I want to exploring of the titel of first song/tune. Can I have an answer? Thanks....

Anyone who gives this group a "thumbs down," deserves to sit in a mental institution for the rest of their lives!
