Based opinions!! Same with everything tbh. Even tho my fav author (Azar Nafisi) has a book called The Republic Of Imagination where she discusses the american dream through three books and one of them is huckleberry Finn. I’m planning to read the two books prior to Azar’s book but I don’t have a drop of interest in huckleberry

Yeah I’ve met people who have said they loved Huckleberry Finn I just don’t see the appeal. There’s just some books even if you forced me to read I probably wouldn’t 😂. I’ve never heard of Azar Nafisi before I’m going to have to check her out.

@@Billie_Cook her most famous book is called Reading Lolita in Tehran. In it she talks about the book club that she made with her students to read books that were kinda banned by the iranian regime while also talking about how these books affected her life view and the islamic revolution. Lots of good stuff that you won’t get anywhere else

@@farahhesham7130 Woah that actually sounds super cool to read about. I'm definitely going to have to check it out.

As someone who has read all of these (except for the final book you mentioned), I completely respect your decision to skip them all. Huckleberry Finn is not worth it - it is racist, especially so when you get to the end (really the ending is painfully frustrating). Gone with the Wind is just a massive manifesto romanticizing the south during the Civil War and for that it gives the ick. I am currently reading Fellowship of the Ring and loving it, but I don't presume that just because I love it, that means you will too. You don't need to read it if you don't want to. As for Court - it's also in my "never gonna give you a chance" list.

I think it’s quite amazing that I’ve somehow been able to avoid reading Huckleberry Finn throughout my time in school. The book just doesn’t seem like something I want to read especially considering how much I hear it’s not worth it. I’ve thought ahoy giving Lord of the Rings another chance and might do so once I get done with all of the books I still have to read 😅. I’m right there with you when it comes to Court, it will probably never be read from me at all 😂

I got about a minute in. What does that even mean, Huckleberry Finn is "racist"? Why outright dismiss (especially classic) books without even learning for yourself what they're about? Gone With the Wind is amazing. (Both book and movie.) The book is long, but it flies by!

That’s very fair opinion about Huckleberry Finn. I have been exposed to certain contents in the book in college that I wasn’t a real fan of. However, like I said towards the end of the video I’m willing to give the books I listed a try :). Gone With the Wind intimidates me to no end 👀 I’ll probably stick with the movie 😅.

@@Billie_Cook No worries! All you can do is give things a try. If it's not for you, that's fine. Sometimes you'll try something one time and can't get into it for whatever reason. Then you try again years later and it clicks. That happened to me with DUNE. I tried it years ago, couldn't understand it for anything. I tried again when the movies were coming along and this time I loved it so much, I read it twice.
Now, if I could only conquer MOBY DICK. That darned book has defeated me for years. But I still want to try again sometime.

@@Billie_Cook Oh, and Gone With the Wind, the movie, is I think 3 hours long. LOL! It's just a looooooooong story. But that was 1939 for the movie and 1936 (I believe) for the book. No internet. No TV. I'm not even sure when radio became popular for the average person. People had longer attention spans because... what else was there to do?

I’ll probably read a couple of the books I listed and make another video in the future :) Do you recommended reading Dune? I felt so lost watching the first movie I never watched the second one 😅. I see online that people really enjoy the book though

The last 3 hour movie I watched was Taylor Swifts live concert in theaters, Gone with the Wind sounds like a fun challenge 😁.
