The dichotomy with Toru and Madoka couldn't be more contrasted. Toru had a reason to become an idol, but Madoka never intended to be an idol. Toru enjoys doing things on a whim, while Madoka is pragmatic on approach but nihilistic on the results. Toru is always looking forward to what she can make of her image, while Madoka doesn't care at all for her own image. And yet, Madoka still doesn't like to see people fail, even herself. Given all of that, I was fully expecting and yet still surprised that Madoka would eventually have an emotional revelation of "she can, but I can't" when comparing herself to Toru. I hope this sets up for something down the road. It may be hard to watch conflict, but hopefully it can lead to something Madoka can organically grow into.

Do you think that she will be able to develop into a "different" person in future commus?

@@andrewfantome4020 My theory is that Madoka's character development will also contrast with the path that Toru's is currently taking. As it currently stands, people have a certain expectation on what sort of idol Toru is, but Toru wants to forge her own image and make her own choices. The red spider lily flowers on her P-SR3 Fes outfit are thought to be symbolic of a "death and reincarnation" for Toru's image. In the dialogue from Toru's P-SSR4, she routinely subverts what Producer asks of her to do, making several defiant but reckless choices of her own, stating in a rare emotional outburst that Producer is being too overbearing with her (Producer does finally clear the air, being protective but only hoping that Toru just doesn't overdo whatever decisions she makes of herself). Following that thread, I'd say that Madoka, in her attempt to outgrow being in Toru's shadow as an idol and find purpose to her reluctance, might instead become more reliant or dependent on Producer to help find an image that Madoka can truly care about, or at least demand that Producer own up to his responsibilities. Maybe she'll finally embrace the idol way to become the kind of person she never thought she could become and stand with Toru as an equal again.

@@ford427v8 Interesting look, thanks. I mainly focus on Tohru as I like her type and relationship with the Producer, but I also noticed that many people praise Madoka as a character for experiencing hostility that requires tolerance to endure. I mean, she seems to be the character that gives you the challenge, if I understand correctly.

@@andrewfantome4020 I started playing ShinyMas because of Toru, but I quickly found myself being fond of Madoka as well, since she's a friend of Toru and I happened to get her initial P-SSR early in my playthrough. I wouldn't say she's particularly difficult or hostile like most people would describe her as. While she is definitely more brash in her attitude with Producer and isn't afraid of not using a filter, I just think it's nice that she adds a variety to SC's personality pool with the various idols. Not everyone is going to be realistically happy all the time or will pretend that everything is going to be okay. Idols like Fuyuko, who is prone to a temper tantrum; or Nichika, who suffers from angst and an inferiority complex. And Madoka is just pragmatic, and superficially tolerant for being an idol when she never really wanted to be one in the first place. But she still has soft spots, since she dotes on Koito as well as some of the other younger idols in the agency, and while she hates Producer's constant optimism, she's still capable of recognizing his sincerity when he works hard for her.

@@ford427v8 I see, thanks for the reply! I prefer androgynous or tomboy-ish idols like Juri or Sakuya as I like to see how their unusual personality reacts to standard situations between idols and Producer or other girls (Probably Makoto is my favorite IMAS character of all time). But from your words, I can understand your interest in Madoka. If she is widely known even outside of IMAS fandom, then this already says a lot.
Also, I have long wanted to ask what the word "dotes" means? I rarely see it, but as I understand it, it means parental attitude towards younger people for whom you feel older sympathy.

Sometimes I feel like I'm going to get a bachelor's degree in Japanese philology while I understand Madoka's commu.
