I was at EPCOT on opening day, just behind Bryant Gumble during the Today Show interview with Dreamfinder. Was an amazing experience and it's been my favorite park ever since
I really liked seeing spaceship earth and communicore on my first trip to epcot because it was awesome to learn about the history of communication and see how computers and other devices used for communication might work in the future.
In 1986 my dad worked for Sperry and when we went to Computer Central we were taken to a Sperry VIP lounge. As a 9 year old kid I thought it was very boring, but they gave me a soda so that was nice.
I honestly think the robotics exhibit and the backstage show sparked my interest in technology. I remember being absolutely blown away as a kid when the wall lowered and here's some dudes monitoring computers making the entire park work.
Ahhhhhhh the 1980's what a great decade.....Some people had neon clothing, Some people just had logo t-shirts, jeans + trainers, to Denim, jackets, Tracksuits, etc , some people had big/really big hair other people had average hair length, short hair or no hair, + different styles of hair such a mix...Music was fantastic, as were Theatre shows, Theme Parks/Water Parks, Music Videos, Video Cameras, Cassettes, CD's or as sometimes called them then Compact Disc, Walkman, CGI/Special Effects, PC computers, Consoles, Arcades, Animatronics, MTV, Sky TV, VHS/Betamax, Films, Cartoons, TV Shows, Brick Mobile Phones, Pagers, Fax Machines, Digital Cameras, in music went from Analog to Digital from 1983......I could go on and on :-)
We went to Epcot on day 2 after opening. We were on Spaceship Earth when it stalled out. Didn't mind though cause I could sit and listen to Cronkite and that music for hours. Lots of bugs on Epcot - day 2.
Thanks for uploading. Do you know the date when this was filmed? Also do you know if there is footage anywhere on the web of the original 1982 version?

I remember a lot of this from my family's visit in about 1989. I especially remember going to Communicore to book dining reservations.
It would be so awesome to see yourself randomly in the background of these old Disney videos.
Love your videos takes me back to when I was a kid and Epcot was Epcot Center.. Thank you :)
I remember playing all the games and seeing the exhibits and SMRT-1 as a kid. What a flashback. Great video tribute.
My only trip to Disney was in '87. Thank you for this! Brings back memories.

I'm thrilled you included the "missing" third verse of Tomorrow's Child. I can't find any audio sources that include it. That has always puzzled me.

Robert Dambeck The Cronkite version of Spaceship Earth didn't open until 1986.
jetraydude-That is what I was thinking as it opened in Oct of 1982-And the Cronkite version opened in May of 86
I think that they still use the instrumental version of Tomorrow's child is still played when the ride is turning and you see Earth.
acdeditch99 They don't use the instrumental version of Tomorrow's Child anymore. But the music they have now is also good music.
The first year I started to visit Disney World. Was in September. I like Walter's version the best.
I would love to see the Conkite version return.

Is this a lost episode of "Lost in Space?"
What are the music selections from 23:25 to 26:40?
Ok, what is the song at 42:02 and why do i know it word for word?.. That freaked me out a bit...
What's that music at 22:10? :V
EXTRA EXTRA NEW YORK CITY FOR LIFE
TRON arcade would have been awesome
should have had that instead of Top Spinning Robots
TRON arcade would have fit better in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom
