- This week on Buckle Up, Harry drives Skoda's electric family crossover that's recently gone under a host of under the skin changes in a technological facelift to improve efficiency, range and performance. But it that enough to make it worth buying?
Up against the Kia EV6, Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach E, VW ID.4, Volvo C40 Recharge, Jaguar I-Pace, Audi E-Tron, MG ZS EV, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Genesis GV60, BMW IX3, DS 3 Crossback, Lexus UX 300E, Volkswagen ID.3, Mazda MX-30, Mercedes Benz EQC, Nissan Aryia, Tesla Model 3, Peugeot E-2008, SsangYong Korando, Fisker Ocean, Subaru Solterra, Toyota BZ4x and Vauxhall Mokka-E is the Hyundai Ioniq 5 the greatest EV crossover of them all?

Buckle Up is a channel that is only interested in one thing - cars!
We upload a myriad of different content including car review videos, car challenge videos, car news videos and much, much more!
Our videos are made in a similar style to that of Top Gear, Fifth Gear, Car Throttle, Doug DeMuro, carwow, Carfection, The Grand Tour, MotorTrend and many more.
We would all thoroughly recommend their channels, so why not go and check them out.
I’ve just ordered the Enyaq 85x sport line.
Delivery is end of November, it will be our first EV and we are really looking forward to it. Great review.
Thanks for watching
Me too in october tho did u get the advanced pack?
@@kuljituppal5121 No, we ordered it with the Maxx pack and the bigger wheels.
Don't get your hopes up, you aren't getting that until at least april.
Theres huge threads on which mobility car forum with tonnes of people who were all told 10 months wait and it ended up being 12 months plus as they start changing your build date when it gets closer.
10 months minimum, also people who ordered extra add on packs ended up with a standard delivered car due to stock issues on parts.
Dealer lies and says its a mistake but they know whats really going on
Had an 85X coupe for a few hours whilst my Enyaq iv80 was being serviced. I found it superb and great performer. Only dislike was the lip depth in the boot, but the optional extra "false boot" would cure that issue for me.
Transport pack coming in clutch
I agree about the bot lovely car shame really
After using the internal navigation of the 85 for a week, I don’t want to go back to google maps. It’s just better.
No one uses Google maps, we all use Waze
@@BuckleUpShow That's always a personal bubble thing. I do not know a single person using Waze.
Rather than postcodes, Can I put a company name and town into it and it'll find it? That and really good live traffic (with alternate routing) is why I use Google maps
@@andrewedwards7880 Sure. The only restriction is that you need to be registered as a main user to have access to the online services.
POI search works perfectly fine. I use it all the time. Actually, i never used the classic: city, street, streetnumber input in the car.
Live traffic is also working great. When i enter the car in morning i use "let's go to work" to start the navigation and get traffic rerouting to avoid any road constructions.
Waze offers the functionality of finding business addresses like with Google maps, but with better alternative routing and traffic information.
Skoda are coming along leaps and bounds now with there cars. I was super excited when I test drove this with a view to buying one, specifically for the 4 wheels drive (live in highlands) but sadly was informed the 4 wheel drive is only active fully below 15 mph.
The front motor would also engage in situations where the car was losing traction, in a similar way to how VW group cars with Haldex only send power to the rear when it's needed
I'm considering Skoda Enyaq 85x, BMW i4 and VW ID.7. In looks BMW i4 wins, Skoda 2nd and VW 3rd. In space it's Skoda, VW then BMW. Performance, range: VW, BMW and Skoda. Each car got their advantages in each category. It will be difficult to choice one.
We've only been able to experience the ID.7 for a few hours but outlets are reporting that it does not achieve its advertised figures where as I could get them out of the Skoda (weird when they use the same tech) worth taking into consideration
Nice review Harry
We cross shopped the enyaq against the kona.
My wife is on the motorbility scheme (and errrm the dealers are next door to each other😊)
You certainly getting more metal for your money in the skoda and the " Scandinavian " feel to the interior was quite nice
But
The coupe is a chunk of cash more than the estate, and weirdly (and ultimately why we have a 2024 hyunidai kona N line s Ev ) the floor inside the skoda seemed very high (I guess the batteries have to go somewere) and we both felt our feet were to high to the seat base.
The Skoda is just a bigger taller car, I found that there's plenty of adjustment in the front seats to have them at the desired height from the floor, though I do like having them all the way down as I said whilst driving
Do the brake lights come on when the regenerative braking is at maximum
Yes
Great review, thanks for the confidence. Got my ordered. Get it in August
Thank you for watching
You may be lucky. I ordered ours beginning of Jan, with collection end of May. Keeps getting pushed back. Now looking at August/September.
So many have the same on a couple of Enyaq Facebook groups I’m in too.
Thanks for a great review! Testing this car soon myself, almost all points are excellent or tolerable, a bit worried about the software UX/UI though.
It's not an ideal system but you can live with it
Been looking at this car and now you have mentioned how many pork pies you can store ,I’m ordering it tomorrow 😂😂
Glad to be of service
Damn this car is cool
Yes it actually has multiple climate zones
Waiting for my RS suv in sep/oct. I owned a Octavia for the last 5 years and time for changing it!
Good review:)
Thanks for watching
Great review
Great comment
Wow, your review was fantastic! I've watched countless reviews, and yours is the only one that really showcases and explains the smart cruise feature. Thank you so much!
A few systems claim to offer similar functionality but this Enyaq was the first time I have used one that actually worked as described, colour me very impressed
hi , i just purchased enyaq vrs 6 months old ,
good saving as 55k new and i paid 35k .
3k milage only managers car ..........
i had ohme pro charger fitted , paired fine
with octopus intelligent , but in ohme app
where you add your skoda connect password so
the charger can see the cars battery level ,
will not sign in , contacted skoda and ohme
and they both say its a known issue ..
can still charge just need to work out the
percentage a need ...
is anyone else having the same problem with the API ....
How useless of both companies to just say it's a known issue but not to do anything about it
Yep exactly same here with Enyaq 60 Edition. I personally use the Octopus app API integration with the car (so they control the car as to their charging schedules), bar you having to stop/pause charging upon first plugging it in, it seems to work flawlessly
Excellent vid mate! We just got one of these on the motability scheme and its an absolute dream!
Glad you’re enjoying yours! Thanks for watching!
It's a nice car but it's nowhere near the build quality of an ioniq 5
It's nowhere near the price either
Nice video
Better than an Ionic 5?
No, but it's cheaper
We recently got an Enyaq 85 Edition after returning a Two Year old IONIQ 5 which was rejected. The SKODA is much better but has a few niggles, NO Physical Handbook, you can view one on line but cannot download it. We do not like the 'Car ignition on' when you sit in the car, very annoying. Car LED Matrix Headlamps are great as are the interior LED lamps for the cabin area. Scratchy plastics, Apple Car Play is very annoying, it only works properly with a wired connection.
I didn't have a problem with the wireless on android, and usually it's the other way round
@@BuckleUpShow Most Odd, The Apple Car Play when connected wirelessly shows WAZE/GOOGLE MAPS Off Line, also when phone is connected via WiFi it is useless for google or Safari searchs.
Agreed Wireless Android Auto isn't the best. It doesn't always automatically cut in, and whilst it works OK on my phone nearly all the time, my wife (whose car it is) it hardly ever works......both have exactly the same phone, same OS revision.
TBF I've had tons of VAG vehicles over the years and upon their move to MIB1 infotainment, I've found their software hasn't ever been much to write home about (including MIB2, and MIB3).
Also about the only thing I really cannot stand are the interior door pulls, they take what is otherwise a very nice, well made interior and lower it to joke worthy levels. It's like the design of the door card exhausted the poor designer and when they got to the door pull they had just given up 😂
I find it funny that no one’s mentioned Apple Maps 🤔
You mean Crapple Maps?
Is the infotainment annoying? How much are the online services
I covered the infotainment in the video 🙂
Please speak to your dealer for any pricing as this can change
No one states how much it costs to charge
Depends how you charge it, if you're charging at home take whatever your energy costs per kW and times that by the size of the battery, it will be a lot less than a similar sized ICE car
Little cameo from Rob in the back seat of the driving segment!
No, that's a ghost
Love the stylish crumbs! Great review.
It's all about the aesthetic here
Did I miss the Price part..? Please..? 🤔
Please check the manufacturers website for current pricing in your location
Good grief that's an umbrella ?
Yes Charlie brown
My next car ❤❤❤
Congratulations
Nice🇸🇦
Thanks 😎
Who is the handsome fella in the back while you’re driving? 😳
A little known country artist called Bobby Lee Wilson
But is is better than an Ionic 5?
No, but it is cheaper than the Ioniq 5.
Sat in and drove both. I prefer the Enyaq. But I need a boot for dogs to lug stuff- which the Ioniq is useless at
Certainly looks better the Ioniq 5,
It looks more traditional than the Ioniq 5. Whether it's better or not is up for debate
No unfortunately its not better than the Ioniq 5, and once the facelift Ioniq 5 is available in a few months time, this will be even clearer
It may not be better, but it is cheaper. Sometimes that goes a long way!
I test drove the Ioniq 5... didn't enjoy the interior styling, boot space, driving interface or the infotainment system... went with the Enyaq Coupe which trumped the Ioniq in these categories. Better is subjective, other opinions are also available!
@@Lerxster This is only your opinion, Thankfull worthless to every other person
@@thomasneely2700 Sure buddy! 🤣
@@Lerxster you are most welcome :)
