  • When looking for a new range for your kitchen, the most important step is to determine the size that will fit best in your kitchen. Ranges at Whirlpool® come in standard sizes in freestanding and slide-in ranges. In this video, you'll learn tips and tricks on how to properly measure and prepare your home's space for your Whirlpool® delivery and install including:
Step 1: Measure the cutout width - Use a measuring tape to measure the width of the cutout from cabinet to cabinet. Measure width at the top and bottom. If there is a difference, use the smaller measurement.
Step 2: Measure the cutout depth - Use a measuring tape to measure the depth of the cutout from the wall to the front of the cabinet, excluding the door. If you have an uneven floor, most ranges have adjustable legs for uneven flooring. A typical wall cabinet is 24 inches deep to work with standard range depths of around 25 to 27 inches. This means your range will stick out slightly beyond your cabinets, which is typical.
Step 3: Measure the cutout height - Use a measuring tape to measure the height of the cutout from the floor to the top of countertops. Take one measurement toward the back of the opening and one toward the front to account for an unlevel floor. If you find that it is unlevel, most ranges have adjustable legs to level the range.
Step 4: Plot a path - When preparing for your Whirlpool® delivery it's best to determine the path of entry to your desired installation location, beginning at your home entrance and taking into account each hall and doorway.
