wish you showed how to vent it out the top and/or back. The video was helpful, but the venting is where the fun really really begins and it the tough part.
Hamilton! Thanks a ton for this. After reading the instructions over and over I turned to RUclips and found this. Clarified everything and made it so easy! So appreciated!
Followed your instructions and all went well. Microwave installed and now need to cover the old holes damage from the previous professional install. Kudos to Whirlpool too...makes much more sense than the pieces of paper and tape. Take care and stay safe.
Thank you for this! Maybe it's because I don't do this for a living, but the instruction manual that came with this microwave is difficult as hell to understand. Your video, on the other hand, is as clear and concise as it gets. Going to get this installed this weekend.
Thanks so much for posting this video. It helped us immensely! We had to go with a bump out and had a back vent to work with, but this helped clarify the basic process. I won't say it was easy as the back vent was poorly installed by the last "professionals" who installed the past two microwaves. Doing the job ourselves gave us an MUCH better product and now I have a fan that actually takes cares of stove top heat and smoke. You made the installation so much easier for us. Thank you!
THANK YOU! Out of all of the 'how-to' videos I've seen over the years online this was one of the best produced, concise and helpful! Might just buy this exact model because of this video!
Thank you so much! Just installed our Whirlpool low profile microwave today and your video made so much sense. The instructions included with the microwave were not easy to understand but you cleared it up. I am thrilled with how it looks! Thanks again.
This is so much clearer than the instructions. It interesting our houses 🏘️ must have been made about the same time because we have the same stud configuration 😃
Just installed mine this weekend I had to also install a outlet in the cabinet since this was replacing a hardwire hood was a little nervous about that but it was OK. Just wanted to thank you for the step by step demonstration it helped a great deal. 👍
Your video was very helpful. I have a Kitchenaid with a very similar mounting bracket. It wasn’t clear to me that the bracket also served as a template to mark mounting holes under the cabinet until I watched your video and then it all made sense. Thank you for a very informative video, I hope kitchenaid takes some clues from you and makes their instructions clearer or better yet encourage new owners to subscribe to your videos ! Thank you !!!
Very good video. I'm installing one of these microwaves in the very near future and your video has eased my mind alot. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Nice video Pat, Direct and to the point without a lot of the extra pointless info. Appreciate the time you took to make, edit and post. Helps with the must know for installing one of these. Cheers
Loved listening to you Mr Hamilton~I have been looking at low profile microwaves for quite a while. I'm undecided because of it protruding out maybe too far. I want more of my backsplash to show ~ My problem ~ Right? Thank you! A joy to watch your video.
Yo! Just installed this bad boy and wanted to thank you for providing a great step by step on the installation. The instructions provided by Whrilpool were a little lackluster but your video was perfect! She's installed and looking good. Cheers!
We've got older cabinets that are beautiful, but we have limited space under the cabinets above the oven due to the age. We went with a Whirlpool low profile microwave and replaced our hood vent and it fits like a glove. The electrician/installer was very impressed and said he knew a lot of clients who would like to have it, so he'd start recommending it.
Thanks man. I planning to install this unit tomorrow, and couldn't figure out the instructions. I thought you had a choice of cabinet OR wall mounting, I didn't realise you use template to mark the cabinet first. Until i saw your video. You made my life easier, thanks! Subscribed!
Instantly subscribed! Thank you, for sharing this video!! Following your instructions, I successfully installed the same microwave, for my Mom today!! It is a beautiful addition, to her kitchen! 👊🏼😊
Receiving my microwave next week and anxious to install….you make it look so easy…… I If you come over to help install I’ll provide the refreshments…Ha ! Ha ! Ha ! All kidding aside I definitely will report back to let you know how it went. Cheers ! 😎
As an FYI for those installing a microwave by themselves (like me). I bought a inexpensive scissors lift to bring the unit up to height for mounting (Amazon title "ECLV 30'' Electric Wireless Remote Control Dining Table Coffee Table Lift,Black,110V-240V,Working Platform Computer Desk Electronic Scissor Lift" ). It fits perfectly under the microwave for lifting it up to the proper height for hooking it on the backplate and then lifting it the rest of the way and insert the screws that go into the top. I had to shim it with some wood to get it to lift up to the proper height for my particular installation for my low profile unit (it's unusually high, but then so am I). I also used it to lift the unit from the floor to the counter. I found it was best putting the microwave on it's side for lifting to the counter top. That way I can simply tilt it over on to the lift. It doesn't quite come up to counter top height so I had to lift it the last few inches onto the counter. Still, better than lifting it from the floor and when lifting the microwave into position to hook on and then holding it as you fish the power cord through the hole and put in the screws to hold it into the shelf. That's gotta be rough on the back over the years. The lift holds it in place for hooking and then lifts it up the rest of the way for putting the screws in. Some day I'll use the lift for raising something (like a TV). It even comes with a remote.
Doug Chivers Thank you. I like that your shelf has a facing board along the front...the bolt holes with all that weight are very close to the front of the shelf...a bit scary for me, as our shelf doesn't have any extra beef at the front. I'm ready to drill the holes...wish me luck!
Great vid. Waiting for mine to be delivered. May I ask, if you put lag screws into studs, do you still have to do the toggle bolts?.. Thanks for any answer
Fantastic video! Question - was that backsplash/tile just below the bare wall? Wondering if the backsplash (tile) needs to be cut out so that the entire back of the unit goes on wall only: not partially on wall and partially on backsplash/tile? Wondering if that caused any measurement issues? Our current kitchen has tile (1/3 inch thick) that goes all the way up to the hood fan. To install such a unit with 1/3 inch tile, do I need to remove (cut out) that tile? Thank you.
Thank you, I am glad that you enjoyed it! The backsplash in this video is really just wallpaper. I would try to avoid cutting the tile, if it were me. The back bracket has some flex to it, so it might be possible to flex between the tile and wall gap (that really depends on where the anchors and hooks fall). The best option would be to cut a board that is the same thickness as your tile, that way you can bridge the gap and keep the same size plane throughout. You can use the board as a spacer on the drywall and attach the bracket directly to that. Hope this helps!
Great job ...I just installed one this weekend , wish I found your video earlier . I’m guessing you are using the internal vents? I has to open the top and install the vent piece , I can hear it hit when it opens and close , Not too excited about that
Hi Pat, I’m going to buy a low profile microwave but after the installation the gap between the microwave and the range will be 15”? Would you go by 15” gap?
How did the low profile fit in so well? The height did not overhang next to the cabinets on the left and right? Did you have her cabinets already adjusted to match the low profile microwave? I have an older taller microwave to replace that is almost leveled with the cabinets on the left and right. Once I install the low profile, I will not have the cabinets leveled on the left and right because the new low profile microwave is shorter in height
What is your distance from the top of the stove to the bottom of your new microwave? Their directions call for 24 inches, yours looks to be lower than that.
So question, trying to install one and was wondering if it matters if you use the holes at the top or bottom for mounting… what made you choose the top right and lower left?
Thank you for checking out my video! Once you plug it into power, you should be good to go! All of the controls can be found on the right-hand side when the door is open.
wish you showed how to vent it out the top and/or back. The video was helpful, but the venting is where the fun really really begins and it the tough part.
I think he just cut a hole into the wall and it is vented into his inner walls
Thank you so much for the visual. The written instructions were all over the place between recirculating and vented models.
Thank you. I enjoyed watching an experienced installer simplify this project. Your smile speaks volumes to us. We appreciate this video.

I just got this microwave and I was about to call someone to install it. Thank you for explaining how to use the template!
This is so much clearer than the instructions.

Thank you. We were having trouble with the instructions. You made it so easy. Thank you.
Thanks for this video! Very helpful being able to visualize the instructions.
Looking forward to replacing my larger microwave thats over the stove with a new low profile one.
Thanks for the video!
Nice video Pat,

The protrusion has me undecided as well. Did you purchase it? How do you find it?
Yo! Just installed this bad boy and wanted to thank you for providing a great step by step on the installation. The instructions provided by Whrilpool were a little lackluster but your video was perfect! She's installed and looking good.
Cheers!
Glad I could help! Thank you for watching!
I just installed one of these I see alot of bad reviews on them how is yours holding up?
This was a huge help to me as the instructions were not the best, thank you!
Thank you so much! You're my hero! This made it so much better than the written instructions!

Wow followed exactly what you said and did. 20 min install
Great job! Made it much easier then trying to understand the directions it came with. Thanks!
I'm happy that it helped!
DANKE!! being an Oldie and coming from a diff. country seeing is better than reading. trust me. so once again: thanks, was a big prof. help!!!
Awesome video. Having a glass backsplash installed before installing Microwave and this helped me greatly
Thank you so much man you made our vision become reality! Subscribing now! 🙌🏻🙌🏻😄

Lots of information in 7 minutes no BS 👍
Thank you. Just found these today and are planning to purchase. Great tutorial.

Thanks a bunch for this video. Made my install a lot easier and faster. Great job sir!
Just subbed! My wife and I are going to install this same one. Great job man!
Thanks for the sub! Good luck with your install!
Great video, installing mine tomorrow. Your video is better than the instruction booklet! Thank you
Just a word.... Thanks for the video. Even when you know...a reference is mighty handy.
Great video. You made it easy for me. Thank you
Glad it helped. Thank you for watching!
You probably get this all the time, but I'll be damned if you're not the real life Al Borland! 😂! Great Video!
Great job
Great job sir, wish you could install mine
Best video to assist us and made it really easy. Thank you
Thank you for video got mine in with lath and plaster walls work good
Great, clear instructions, well presented. Thank you!
Great video! I’m installing the low-profile KitchenAid model and the process is pretty much the same
Awesome! I hope that this video helped.
Very helpful - the install process ended up being the same (including the bracket template, etc). Thanks again!
Nice job, explained everything very well with a smile on his face.
Thank you! I'm so happy that you enjoyed it!
Nice video! Thank you!

Thank you so much for your video. I made my brother watch it so he can install mine. :)
That's the way to do it!
Looks nice.
Great vid. Waiting for mine to be delivered. May I ask, if you put lag screws into studs, do you still have to do the toggle bolts?.. Thanks for any answer
Great video, used to to install mine today. Easy peezy!
Thank you SO much!!
thanks for the video. It was a big help.
Thank you very very much for this video now I know how to install it
Gracias , it is very simple
What a great post. Can i install this same microwave under or over a pantry shelf? There’s a regular power outlet under the shelf.
May be a "stupid" question but...Does this model's exhaust fan blow up or down when in use?
Very detailed.
Thanks!
Where is the duct for the exhaust
Hi Hamilton, I have the same microwave, I am needing to replace the complete door assembly. I'm not to sure how the door is removed.
Thanks for the video. But I wish an installation of exhaust out of house. It seems having a rectangle exhaust...
Good stuff. Thanks!
Thank you
Thank you for watching!
Great job ...I just installed one this weekend , wish I found your video earlier . I’m guessing you are using the internal vents? I has to open the top and install the vent piece , I can hear it hit when it opens and close , Not too excited about that
Thanks for the video. What is the depth of the cabinet that you installed this MIC on, is it 12" in depth?
Yes, that is correct. The cabinets in this kitchen are 12" in depth.
great video!!
I have this microwave and need to change the fuse can you help with that? I don't know where it is located.
Could you tell me your cupboard measurements that you were attaching a microwave to?
No mention about the exhaust fan and choosing top exhaust or back.
We went with the ventless option.
Nicely explained. Thank you. So how does the vent in this unit work? I do not have an external vent.
Great Video. May I install a low-profile microwave where I had installed a regular rage hood?
Hey Pat great video! Can these low profile microwaves connect to an outlet vent? I see you've installed yours as a recirculating hood. Thanks!
Did you drill a pilot hole for the lag bolts before driving them into the studs? Thanks for your video!
I would recommend it. I did not, but it would have been easier if I had.
Hi Pat, I’m going to buy a low profile microwave but after the installation the gap between the microwave and the range will be 15”? Would you go by 15” gap?
Good Morning! I'm not sure that I understand your question, do you mind elaborating?
How did the low profile fit in so well? The height did not overhang next to the cabinets on the left and right? Did you have her cabinets already adjusted to match the low profile microwave? I have an older taller microwave to replace that is almost leveled with the cabinets on the left and right. Once I install the low profile, I will not have the cabinets leveled on the left and right because the new low profile microwave is shorter in height
does it need a duct for the range ventilation?
It has the option of being ventless
What is your distance from the top of the stove to the bottom of your new microwave? Their directions call for 24 inches, yours looks to be lower than that.
It is a bit lower. The distance between this stove and microwave is only 20 inches.
How do you exhaust up the wall and out the attic?
We went with the ventless option
Question: If using the upper vent hole, can I fit a 3x10 collar then attach an elbow & length of pipe and go straight out through the wall outside.
For recirculating venting, do I need to adjust any of the top plates/grates? These instructions are so confusing
I see your installation is for internal ventilation. Can this low profile model be converted into an external ventilation like wall venting? Thanks
So question, trying to install one and was wondering if it matters if you use the holes at the top or bottom for mounting… what made you choose the top right and lower left?
What is the difference between using the top holes and the bottom holes to screw into studs and or drywall?
How did you vent the microwave?
This particular microwave can be used as both a vented microwave and a ventless microwave. We went the ventless route.
can you show how the micro wave work I have the same and no manual
Thank you for checking out my video! Once you plug it into power, you should be good to go! All of the controls can be found on the right-hand side when the door is open.
