Not enough, St.Louis gives us nothing. I understand the 3 team trade aspect but we got a 4A player and two 19 year old lottery tickets. St Louis just told Getz Take That!

Don’t forget the Cards through in an old Rawlings baseball mitt from 1979. Getz is in over his head.

Kap, this was an underwhelming return for the Sox to say the least. Fedde is ranked as the 10th best player in all of baseball in terms of BWAR. Simply put, he's been one of the most valuable players in baseball. If this was the return just for Fedde, I'd still be a little disappointed. But the fact the Sox also gave up Kopech and Pham makes this trade all the more dissatisfying. The Sox gave up 3 major league players for a guy who has been a major disappointment so far in Vargas (and is also an awful defender) and two lottery tickets ranked in the back half of the Dodger's farm system. That's the best Getz could do? I get Fedde has only been good since the beginning of this year, but with how starved for pitching teams are combined with Fedde's performance, cheap salary, and team control for an extra year, it feels like the Sox came up short in this deal. I guess we'll see in a few years whether this really amounts to anything for the Sox.

yeah, that sums it up nicely. also confusing that the Cards got Fedde while Vargus and the two prospects came from the Dodgers. On the surface I'd say the obvious winner here is St.Louis who are out nothing other than a utility guy on the disabled list.

Like the trade. Of the 3, Kopech is the biggest disappointment.

I'm convinced the White Sox franchise will move to Indianapolis next season and then to Nashville in 2030. They will rebuild in Indy and then go to Tennessee. Over the winter, they''ll go to court to break their lease at Guaranteed Rate Field. Illinois voters will never allow a publicly funded stadium.

This trade doesn't really matter however it turns out I'm sure it won't be in the favor of the White Sox does anything they do are the Bulls or Cubs do it doesn't work out for them because they all need to get rid of their front offices none of them can pick players and most of all develop them

Trade makes a ton of sense. All 3 teams won benefited. Keep this mind, Edman is still on the DL. The Sox are in complete rebuild mode + the manager should be gone after this season. Only issue is the sox are paying this guy 5 million and there hasn't been any improvement at all.

Lol what do you mean Coleman Shelton doesnt have much experience at center? he played starting center for the rams for like the last 3 years. Ryan Bates only started a handful of games at center. Maybe you had them mixed up.

As with all trades involving minor leaguers, there's no way to tell if a team won/lost the trade. Best current example is the Michael Busch situation with the Cubs. He looks like a keeper at the first sack, but we have no idea in 2024 if the two minor leagues the Cubs gave up to get him from LA will be brilliant players or busts. Think 2020 Cubs first-round draft pick Ed Howard. In another five weeks, his pro baseball career with the Cubs will be over. Still in Class A, he's hitting .247 with 1 homer and a strikeout rate of 26.6 pct. His on-base plus slugging is .620. And that's a top-10 draft pick. On the flip side, 2022 pick Cade Horton looks like a comer, albeit now injured. and 2023 pick Matt Shaw is raking at AA. So clearly, draft-pick success is an art as much as it is a science. We have to wait a few years to see if Chris Getz has aced his classes in both art and science.

I think we could have gotten a little bit better in return, as getting nothing in return from STL is kinda shocking. But I wouldn’t have expected much from our new “GM” Chris Getz, one of Reinsdorf’s yes men/a$$ kissers…
