Has issues with shredding non-green wood - ie wood that was cut a week or two ago or fallen wood. Impractical in out weather to get wood in a optimum state for chipping, so expect to spent a lot of time cleaning the chipper box. Note in the demos they use fir trees rather than hardwood which gives more issues - wonder why?. Trying to chip non-green wood results in a fine dust being produced which clogs everything up. The covers use non-quick release mechanisms - old style nuts, washers and bolts - convenient when you are out on site - need a tarpaulin! Forest Master confirmed the issue and if I had known I would not have bought the chipper. Would a serrated blade help the issue - Forest Master to investigate?
So it’s not very good then I’ve been looking at chippers I don’t have much experience with chippers I’m more garden maintenance but now and then get waste and a chipper would make life easier
@@vinceking7878 Depends on the type of wood - and soft / hardwood. Generally need to shred within a few days of cutting the branch or you will be spending your time taking it apart and unblocking it - not a 2 minute job - split washer, washer and nuts instead of single unit or quick release clamps. Doesn't matter if new sharp blades - though I think a serrated edge blade may reduce the issue. As indicated hardwoods tend to be more of an issue - especially oaks suggesting also the machine under-powered for this type of work - more limited on the size of log also. Unfortunately Forest Master only admitted limitations after I had bought it - If I had known I would not have bought.
Hi Jim - Thanks for your comment. The FM9DD weighs 92KG. It can also be easily disassembled and can fit within the back of an estate car if needed for easy transport.
Thanks for the reply. I’ll have to go to a dealer one day and have a look how easy they disassemble, i work alone so i’d have to be able to get it in and out of the car myself. Currently got two of the FM6DD models (one chipper & one mulcher), thinking this could replace both.
Regrettably, we don't have a distributor in the US. But, if you drop a line to our sales team at info@forest-master.com, we'd be happy to provide a shipping quote for you.
