this is super dope.. i got a 505 and 404 i wanna midi sync together but i'm having trouble. i want the drum samples coming from the 404 and then syncing to the 505 with the tempo so i can create smooth loops. any tips? a rig rundown video would be lit lol. cheers.

Hey hey! Thats awesome I love using those two together and I would love to make a rig rundown video to show you, might be a couple weeks though.
Tips for using them in tandem though is to forget about the midi connection. The way i use them is 1) make the 404 drum loop to X tempo
      2) Set the looper tempo to the same tempo
      3) then set the looper to fixed bar length (eg: 2 bars)
Then you just start the loop recording and start the drum loop on the 404 and they will be perfectly in sync. whatever you loop will match the drum loop tempo as long as your playing along to the drums. Maybe I need the video for that to make sense haha

@@CruelBuddhist yo, man! Thanks for the reply first of all! But yeah that makes sense! I make the drum loop on the 404 95 bpm and set the 505 to 95 bpm and fix the measure to however long the 404 drum loop is. The key to syncing it would be the ability of pressing the 404 drum loop and 505 record loop at the same time? Also, you’re just plugging in the 404 via instrument cable to the 505? I needed to hear to drop the midi cable tho cuz this stuff was driving me mad lol. Looking forward to hearing more music. Cheers

yea man i feel like people on this path get bogged down with MIDI and looping on ableton, you can just plug the audio cables together and forget about the complex stuff that sometimes makes me feel dumb.
As for the midi sync (so you can trigger a drum loop and record with one button press) i think about that too and it would be sweet. However a strategic problem there for me is that I haven't heard the drum loop or tempo but have to immediately adapt while recording the loop.
What I do instead is usually trigger the drum loop with the filter or isolator on to transition into it, at the same time playing a little intro on my instrument, and then start the loop recording after 4 bars of playing along to the correct tempo. Check my 'Yongfoo Elite' live set if you wana see this in action. @@simple_abstract_music
