If you place 1 block of slime and put a boat on it. Wait 30 secs and then enter the boat, you will get launched. Its like its loading, the longer you wait, the higher you go. If you wait 15 mins b4 entering the boat you can travel anout 15milion blocks with the elytra

the instability of the boats is reasonably accurate, especially since their going backwards XD
exactly, that's just how boats work. clearly, in an effort to make them more realistic, they added the bit of counter-turn (or whatever official people call it) from paddling, which is HOW BOATS WORK. I was a little frustrated with Etho on this one, because he didn't seem to realize that the devs were going for accuracy to reality.

+ThePCguy17 I think he understands the accuracy, but doesn't like the gameplay. realism doesn't always make the best gameplay. If you're going to have something realistic in a game, might as well go do the thing in real life. How many games do you know that have completely realistic mechanics? There's not many, even ones you may think have some have tons of added fictional stuff because it improves the playability, it improves the *fun*
+DreadKyller maybe for you, but others find also fun gameplay in good "gamification" of realistic things, with some grindy mechanics. Frustation generates also more accomplishment, so kinda fun. For example, Terrafirmacraft, makes MC overgrindy... and more fun. And i think it's more interesting to play something with functionnalities pretty closed to irl equivalent, for knowledge and immersion. It's far to be totally realistic and it's seems balanced pretty well now they up the speed.
Etho's Lab doesn't break. Just put a stack of blaze powder into every brewing stand and it will work for like two thousand rounds.

I just built one and I think it's really cool! I added trip wires in the rings so when u fly through them it adds a point on the scoreboard, I'm not the best at redstone but I managed to do it! Anyone can do it, I think all of y'all should try

Hide the elevators inside of a tree trunk. Yeah, the trees will be tall, but with a 3x3 or 5x5 trunk (or variating between the two sizes in the same tree to give the trees some character), a big canopy (not so big upwards, but kinda flat if you know what I mean) and a bunch of wines (and don't forget hanging glowstone!) then they could look good!
Maybe add some bushes or smalelr trees around it to make them blend in a little bit better.
It feels like Minecraft is alive again. Flying adds a whole other dimension to the game. Now people are going to build with flying in mind, and I can't wait to see what you got in store for your world :)

This video and the TFC video have gotten my likes after so many episodes that were worth watching but I could tell were tedious for the maker. Etho enjoyed doing this video and it made me enjoy it more as well. The energy in his voice reminded me of Chocolate Island and the mob sorter episodes. Thanks Etho for making me a part of your video.

After all this time, I just realized that the apostrophe in Etho's intro is backwards!
Hey Etho! There is a trick for the boats! When you just hold down a and d, they accelerate for a moment, but then slow down and stay like that. So the trick is to time pressing a and d to keep that acceleration that you get at the start. It's a pretty cool concept for boat races that relies on skill. Thanks! You're the best!
I've been really depressed IRL, but the most positive thing I could think of was Etho playing Minecraft... Anyway, these videos gave me hope and cheered me up when nothing else could. TY Etho, I'm glad you're still at it when so many don't make this stuff anymore.

To my favorite youtuber (that's you, Etho): for your elevators, you can have openings in them in multiple spots, so you can go in different heights. Only want to go a few hundred blocks? Go to the 128 height. Want to go really, really far? Try the 256. Want to go on a hundred or so? Take the 50. You can conceal the elevators in towers. The towers can have ender chests, crafting tables, anvils, chests, furnaces, etc. And in the center will be the elevator. I hope you use these ideas- I think they'd be awesome!

a quick note on the boats: the reason they have that wavy effect is that boats go their quickest right at the start then the slow down a little bit, the reason for this is so going fast in boats requires skill, so boat races now work!
Every time he started flying above his world I starting thinking "if you want to view paradise....simply look around and view it" ^o^
I'd say make the elevator towers out of glass but that would just make the mine carts and ladders visible. Perhaps build your elevators in to natural mountains? You say the top of the world is a bit to high so perhaps finding some good Y100-Y120 mountains would work well. Not sure how this would work in amplified terrain mind you but for your original terrain it would work nicely. Anyways keep up the good work Etho, love your content!

Etho! What if you made an enderporter in the sky, cleverly disguised as a cloud, that was activated by a proximity detector? This would help you get some altitude for flying without the eyesore of a minecart elevator! just a thought...
Etho boat speed is now determined by the block underneath them. If you put a boat over an air block it will not lose any of its speed. This can actually be used to make a track faster than a minecart if you launch the boat with a slime block, and it is much cheaper.

11:11 -- I've thought that to be one of Minecraft's biggest drawbacks, for ages, ie. Mouselook automatically determines where the player is moving/working. What if I want to mine in another direction than I am looking? What if I want to look in another direction, if I am mining? The head needs to be independent of the arms and/or control surfaces, in the case of the glider, so that looking down/around doesn't change them. It is also true for Minecraft vehicles (boats/minecarts) and animals that can be mounted.

About the boats, I think that if you tap in rythm, you do faster :)
Etho there is a way to travel super fast with boats without water. All you need are slime blocks and pistons. Dig a 1 deep and 1 wide trench into the ground infront of the boat, the boat shall be 1 block away infront of the slime block, the piston is pushin the slime block while your boat is 1 block away infront of it. While sitting on it, push the lever and the slime piston will push your boat through the trench forever until it hits something.

Hey Etho, instead of the long towers to the top for the Elytra just use the boats. Put a torch on top of a slime block then place a boat wait 3-5 seconds then get in. It will launch you up to the top with no ugly towers

Etho, in order to make the boats go faster, you need to press the 'a' and 'd' key in a certain pattern, you need to hold them both whilst your paddles are in the water. Dinnerbone made this change because he wanted to make boat racing a thing.
The "waviness" of the boats is because of a new mechanic: when you press a direction the boat gets a boost in that direction, this is used for boat races, (so if you press either direction in the right rhythm, it will go faster).
item elevators arent broken, they were a bug in the first place, they where patched

Bugs like that aren't considered bugs after a while, normally. A piece of Minecraft is engineering, and that was a key element, but I guess it's fine as long as there's an alternative.
Ye Olde Gamertag bugs should always be considered as bugs and the bug had way more consequences than just the item elevators..

A little suggestion with the elevators. This will add a bit of effort and time into each one, but perhaps you could decorate them with something fitting for the area. For example, one in the amplified (if you ever built one there) could be a tree or treehouse, the one in the desert could be an obelisk , one built near the nexus could be a cell tower. This would at least make them not so ugly, and cause them to blend-in with the surrounding builds, but it also means spending a lot of time designing and building custom shells for each one. You also could just surround them all with archery/lookout towers. Just a thought, but I'd love to see what you could do with this!
To do jumps and make traveling with boats a little easier you can have grass paths that act like you're on water. If you put a boat on grass path then row that into water that is at the same level as the path, you'll be able to row your boat like normal on it. Also, if you have paths set up already in your world you can just setup a station (just water in the ground) to begin rowing your boat on there.Also you can make the boat continue moving without you pressing a button if you make it skip a block of grass path with ice underneath.

Dear Ethos,
I'm not sure if you already currently know this, but there is a substitute for ladders. You basically build up 4 columns of blocks, like a plus sign, but with the middle empty. Then, you pour water down the middle, and this creates a "invisible water ladder". What happens is, of the 4 empty corners of this plus sign, one of them will enable to shoot right up. It moves you up faster then normal ladders, and I just thought this was cool, and wanted to share this with you. Thanks.
Try digging a trench which is one block deep and place a boat with a torch in the trench which will be pushed with a slime block powered by a piston at the start of the trench.This will make the boat stay at the top speed no matter how long the tench and there is no water needed to be put in.(this will also work is the boat is falling down.)

If you want to travel faster, the glider wings are also affected by speed beacons! This is why I think it would be a good idea to hide the beacon in your elevators. Or better yet, use them to enhance the look of the elevator so it isn't such an eye sore. Use them to your atvantage!

would be really interesting to see what kind of mob farms you could come up with using the boats to pick mobs up and the submerging of them to eject the mobs. Quite excited to see what people can come up with in this new update and the new mechanics and bug fixes

i wont lie i been watching etho for a very long time since his old world with the TNT cannons and zawbanjito jokes. If the EATS road is now broken its gonna be a nice bit of nostalgia that will no longer exist :(

Etho, for the minecart elevator you can hide them by turning them into a lighthouse. It would look so cool in your world and would look natural.

Dear Etho, if you place a torch on top of a slime block, then a boat on the slime block, wait a few seconds, and hop in the boat you will get launched up in the air a few hundred blocks.
Hey etho you should make the mine cart tower color coordinated. At a certain height you put a bright color to represent an area of the map you want to glide to. So you can stop, get out of the mine cart and glide to your destination. You should be able to hit the ground around your destination if you have your starting point at the right place on the tower.

You mentioned that the towers were ugly. An alternative to tall towers could be some form of player launcher. Doc and the zipcrowd made one using cows that gets you going pretty quick. I don't know how comparable that is to the towers though. it would definitely need some testing. perhaps some combination of the two would be necessary.

ETHO! Here's one thing I found that can help you get rid of the tall minecart towers. place a slimeblock on the ground with a torch on top, then place a boat on top of the torch. you can go about 90 to 120 blocks above the surface
Since boats sink now when placed underwater that could be used for some really neat decorations. Kind of have like a sunken ship wreck theme or if your building an aquarium you can use them as decoration like something you would see in a real fish tank.
for the elevators, you could make them look like lighthouses. each lighthouse could mark a different part of the world.

Etho, those massive elevators are not needed if you get a punch bow. It is surprisingly easy to hit yourself and you get a massive speed boost that can be used to gain a lot of height. In a test world i was flying for 15 minutes straight with out falling to the ground with a punch 2 infinity 1 bow and unbreaking wings. With practice you could fly till the wings break.
Etho, the boats are fine. They're rowboats. They're anything but fast, and pretty choppy. Those in MC are those that aren't affected by wind, sometimes current, and other stuff. In real life, they'll drift to the side, sitting still doesn't exist, because how ever slow, the wind will push you.

Windmills would hide the elevators pretty well. Like the big white modern ones
Boats being indestructible means many of the old abuses should be back, including my personal favourite, the piston train. A 2 wide 3 high row of blocks, alternating piston-air-glass-glass, or maybe it was sticky piston-glass-air-glass, can't remember. Boat goes INTO the blocks, gets pushed by the pistons and generally flies through everything very fast.
Etho, you should set up your elevators in a series of watch towers. They would hide them perfectly and it makes sense to have them positioned at the sort of distances you were talking about since they would - theoretically - be used to signal each other.

Etho, for the smaller flight pillars you should make them into missiles. I know it doesn't make much sense to have in your world but I think it would be something interesting to have, "Commander Etho Ready to take on any enemy who dares to defy him!"
