Hard disagree - he's probably the MOP this year but he's not nearly as valuable to the Jets as Drai/Hughes/Werenski are to their respective teams... the Jets are the highest-scoring team in the league and with an average high-load replacement would still easily be top-5 in goal differential; the Jets have 19 wins by three or more goals this season and I think that that's enough by itself to show that he hasn't been the MVP so far this season - he hasn't needed to be this good at all and his team isn't nearly as strongly benefitting from his high level of play as the teams of other MVP candidates are

Lived in SLC my whole life, the drivers have always been bad here. But in the last 10 years the population density explosion from people moving here has made things significantly worse. Nowadays, I wouldn’t single out just the Utahns, as I see people with out-of-state plates driving dangerously in SLC all the time. Since then only one defenseman has won the award. Yet we've seen a number of defensemen win the Conn Smythe trophy as MVP in the playoffs. Why do voters consider a defenseman valuable in the playoffs but not during the regular season?
