I have been letting go of relationships that no longer work and got off social media a long time ago. I think I’ve definitely fallen into “checking off the things I think I am “supposed” to do” to get well again lately. And noticed that trying too hard to manage stress is actually causing me stress. I’ve made a lot of progress in the last year, but I’ve seen a decline since mid-August. When I have these flares I tend to freak out and look for answers out of desperation and then try to do all the things. Thank you for this reminder to keep it simple.
Thanks for sharing this with us, Melissa. What you describe is a very common experience for many of us. One of the most important and impactful things we can do for ourselves along this healing journey is to shift our perspective around symptoms and flares from a feeling of fear to a reminder of safety. Understanding symptoms and flares are signs that we need to love and care for ourselves a little extra right now rather than fearing that they indicate a setback. Thanks for your comment! I hope you have a beautiful weekend. 🥰
Great content, Lauren! The hardest thing for me to say no to are funerals. There are times that I really want to go, but it literally seems like someone I know is dying every other week! I just can’t do it, so I do things like contribute to their Go Fund Me campaign or write an encouraging message on FB.🌻
Wow, this is honestly something I haven't thought about because I don't have that many deaths around me. I'm so sorry you have had so many losses. I can imagine that would take its toll on anyone. You're right! Thankyou for sharing.
