You're right on Michael. The funny thing is that some of these prosecutors and others when asked what they might be doing on the weekend will answer "playing poker with friends". I used to be in a regular poker group that included my counties head prosecutor, and several deputy sheriffs. Guaranteed nobody reported their loss or wins to the IRS. What a joke our government is becoming. Other countries are definitely laughing about it, and taking advantage also of our weakness.

My adult daughter works retail in a suburb of Nashville, TN. Employees can’t stop blatant shoplifters. They’re loud, they threaten to sue while stealing if a manager tries to stop them. That or they threaten to go to their car, come back and kill anyone who tries to stop them, including customers.
The stores don’t even call the police. For $1,000, they don’t want to lose a day of work. They know the criminal is going to walk anyway. It’s a cost of doing business. Unless security is armed, it’s pointless. If they are armed, the store will get sued if one of these spit globs gets injured.
Brick and mortar stores compete with all the big corporations who cleaned up during Covid. They’ll be happy to see these businesses fail. Then their employees can work for Amazon. Infuriating.

I live part-time on Manhattan's Upper West Side, and every time I go back, I just can't believe the general breakdown going on in the neighborhood. It's getting like the '70s all over again. The drug addicts are hiding in the stoops of the brownstones at night, waiting to jump you as you walk by. You can't even go to the park anymore without worrying about getting stabbed. And forget about jumping on the subway to go downtown. It can be your last ride. Just three years ago, you could walk the streets at 3 in the morning without any problems. Recently I had an American have a go at me for our VAT in the UK like it was a bad thing when all it means is the Value Added Tax for any item bought from a shop or store is added before you buy. If something is advertised as £9.99p that's exactly what you pay at the till. No extra tax on top of the advertised price. Maybe it's just a cultural difference but it makes more sense to me.

The government doesn't really care about violence. They only thing the really care about is money. Thats why they went after the mob so hard because they make alot of money. They rarely go after black and Hispanic gangs and it's messed up cause they kill women and children and there always shooting someone but they don't make big money atlest not all of em so the government could care less

    • @BigBadJerryRogers
      @BigBadJerryRogers 2 года назад

That's because the only answer is mass incarceration of tons of poor people who are committing robbery. You can't argue for prison reform like Michael here used to do at least and support incarceration of vast amounts of poor people. You are also going to have to pay more in taxes for that.

    • @BigBadJerryRogers

@@B_baldy Oh yeah there's just so many great options out there. Michael here is a convicted felon. How many people like you want to give convicted felons second chances as employees? The hypocrisy is steep. Stop being a sycophant and accept there's no easy answer

    • @BigBadJerryRogers

@@B_baldy Because that's all that's there, what is in their own community! They're stuck there! If some major corporate headquarters could be knocked over and looted just as easily there's no doubt that would happen instead.

@@B_baldy You are making excuses too. The public schools are not good in so many of these places and you know it. So many people who are born poor with poor families and tough situations are inevitably going to fall into crime at young ages. And with the cost of living so ridiculously high the incentive to work a low paying job is going to be low. You are expecting an unrealistic standard of living for so many people. And your standards will never be met with the way society is now. No easy answers but numerous contributing problems.

I find it incredible that a politician from Nassau or Suffolk Counties would talk about corruption, when those two political machines were/are two of the most corrupt in the country. You hit the nail on the head when it comes to bail and criminal justice reform. I feel like I'm in a 3 Stooges episode when Moe says 'Look over there" and hits Curly with a wrench...the misdirection in our political system would be laughable if not so disturbing. Good show. Thank you for sharing Michael.

In 2019 One government department gave a multimillion pound contract for shipping ,to a company who didn't have any ships

Much more concerned about the street crime we have. Totally agree .. The world has gone mad. We have people that are innocent barricading themselves in their own houses with bars on the windows. They are the prisoners while criminals who should be prisoners are let out of jail with no bail to commit more crime over and over.
You're absolutely correct Micheal and if I disagreed I would say so sir.
The government is force and control.
Most of our taxes goes to overhead. Like 80 to 90 percent.
As long as we have welfare we can't have immigration. Illegal immigration is terrible and the government is running a racket using illegal aliens and sending them in our communities with airplanes.
Hunter Biden should have been in jail. Joe Biden should be too.
They sold out America to the Chinese. Biden has a tattoo that says made in China. 😂😂
They are scared to death Trump will run again and win. He's so popular and not corrupt. ♥️
God bless you and your family and employees and friends sir. ♥️

My parents came from India. My dad had to employ a certain number of American citizens for a certain number of years to become a citizen himself. He saved up every penny and bought a liquor store for $15k (early 70's) and hired a few employees. He got a draft letter to go to Vietnam as an engineer, but the war ended before he got called up. But he was willing to go. The country needs people like our parents. People who love America and are willing to make sacrifices to live here. We have caught Russian spies and ISIS terrorists coming through the southern border. But there are 50k anonymous people coming through every MONTH. We don't know anything about these people.

as far as taxes and the public being overtaxed..
pick any item in your house, any item at all, then figure out how many times that same item has been taxed. each part, each ingredient, each purchase, each sale, the labor, etc etc.
we've been overtaxed for a long time and they've even taken it further by taxing not only our expenses but also our incomes.
now some people feel good when they get returns on their income tax contribution but those returns are typically money you could have saved yourself and not only that but W2 income tax is an interest free loan to the government, but if you want a loan from the government they want to charge interest.
system is so out of whack and only getting worse, there is no 1 politician or political party to blame either, it's corrupt across the board. pick any politician and start diving, you'll find corruption in some form 9 times out of 10, and the times you don't is just because it hasn't surfaced yet

You are absolutely right. I play poker in a card club here in Germany. There are people from all areas of society and ethnicity. There is a christian minister, a policemen, a criminal investigator, an accounted, doctors, a composer, musicians, engineers, salesmen, a dance club owner, a surgeon, city employees, pensioners, people from 10-15 different countries. It is a peaceful gathering of people who like to play cards and enjoy the company of others, rather than sitting in front of their home TV set or get plastered in a pub. It´s a polite and friendly atmosphere. In a decade I have never encountered any sort of violence or aggression. Still, it is not entirely legal but seems to be quietly tolerated.

They will just chalk it up to loss prevention and have it as a write off. They thanked me for what I did, but had I gotten hurt they wouldn't of paid for any of my injuries because I took it upon myself to try and stop them.
