The Asinine Attorney cases are joke cases. They’re non-canon and just for laughs though you do have to play them like any other case minus investigation segments (they’re that short). Turnabout Time Traveller is an epilogue case, so you don’t need to worry about optimal times on when to cover it or the other two cases unlike with Dual Destinies. You can just leave them all for the end of the LP. There’s also a trailer that was put together for Turnabout Time Traveler that I would suggest looking at before diving in, though it’s in Japanese only and doesn’t actually contribute much to the whole thing. Just a silly trailer is all.
As for the timeline, I'm not sure when exactly Maya left to train, but it's been about 4 months since the events of Dual Destinies. We don't assume there's any big year timeskips unless specified--Turnabout for Tomorrow (the last case of Dual Destinies) was in December, and this case is in April.
Welcome to Spirit of Justice! It's a strange one, what with it having a more mystical feeling to it (though given the Magatama and Apollo's bracelet, it's not that out-of-place for this series), not to mention the super non-subtle Khura'inese pun names, but once you get used to it all, I think this is one of the best main-series games!
So glad to see you play what's probably my favorite game in the series. I was already one of the bigger defenders of AA5 and I still stand firmly by it, but to me AA6 is absolute PEAK Ace Attorney, no questions asked. This first case is a bit of a slow start, but starting with Case 2 the rest of the main campaign is wall-to-wall bangers.
Can't wait for this series! Found this channel when I got stuck on Big Top Turnabout in the 2nd game, and have played the rest of the games alongside watching the playthroughs! Already beat Spirit of Justice, so looking forward to Lucah's reactions!

YEAH BABY!!!!!!!! THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!!! As someone whose not been watching the Zero Escape series of videos due to wanting to play them myself first blind and not having the time to do so due to other stuff like life and other game releases taking more priority, i'm happy to be back again waiting for new episodes :D
I finished watching all your Ace Attorney play throughs recently, so it’s a funny and nice coincidence you’re playing this now!! I can’t wait for all your jokes, voices, and fun comments throughout this game!!! :D
I don't have any tips or tricks because I've never played any of these games, but I've seen every one that you've played. And I can't wait to once again witness your voice acting prowess! (Seriously, I adore the voices you come up with. They're always perfect.)
I am so excited! This is probably the most hyped I’ve been for an LP in a very long time! While this game is not my favorite Ace Attorney game, I am still so excited to witness all of Lucan’s reactions to every twist and turn in this game.
Well, here I am, thinking, "Oh, I haven't swung by Lucahjin's Channel in a bit, wonder what she's up to" and low and behold, My good Lawyer Buddies are back in down! A very merry unbirthday to me!
Oh snap. Pure coincidence that I was re-watching your other Ace Attorney LPs recently…only for you to begin Spirit of Justice now! I hope you have fun with this game!
6 long years since I decided to experience the whole series through you, I have waited for this day. And now that it has begun I am prepared to glue myself to the screen once again. What do you call a Froslass in a courtroom? A spirit of just-ice.
So excited for this LP! This is the only Ace Attorney game I've never fully completed and probably the one I remember the least about, so I'm really looking forward to re-experiencing it alongside you!
YES! You have no idea how much i've been looking forward to you playing this Lucah. Even if other people might have some criticisms of the story, I definitely feel like the characters themselves make up for it. All I can say for now without spoiling anything is this: you are not prepared for how dumb the names will be.
The very first Phoenix Wright game that I ever experienced was this one, and it was through Tim's LP of it. I've been greatly looking forward to seeing you play this! All aboard, because HERE WE GO!
Woooo! Your Ace Attorney LPs are always a treat! Honestly, I'm kinda glad you're not playing the remake because I currently am and I'd rather see how good it looks for myself. :) By the way, I know others have told you this already, but Khura'in is not the same as Kurain, though they're obviously connected. The implication is that Khura'in is the origin of the tradition and Kurain is what it evolved into essentially.
heck yes!!! i never actually finished this one (got up to the beginning of the last case and just... stopped for no discernible reason, haha), but i do really enjoy the story of what i saw. super excited to see you play this one!
Oh man, you're going to have a BLAST with Spirit of Justice! Every case in this game is insanely creative and amazing, the new characters are all great, the story is a lot darker than previous titles and the music? Oh man, it's my favourite OST of the entire series! The returning tracks from the older titles don't hurt either. Please go into this game as blind as possible, it's worth it!
For reference, since I don't see it in any other comments, it's been 9 years since the end of Trials and Tribulations, which was the last time Phoenix and Maya worked together.
Happy to see that you’re back with the current last entry to the AA series! Tho I’m a bit surprised you’re not using the remastered version in the AJ trilogy. Regardless, hope ya have fun with spirit of justice!
I've been looking forward to this for a long time. Spirit of Justice was the first Ace Attorney game I managed to play completely unspoiled, and I did so alongside a friend. I tend to play faster than her, so I have a lot of fond memories of encountering characters or events that I KNEW she'd love, and waiting to see her reaction. It has a couple of my favorite cases in the entire series, one of which is, to be as vague as possible, the expected one, and one of which is the least expected one. This will also be the first time since I think the very first game that I will be watching these videos as they come out instead of binge watching them! Unless i'm distracted playing Touhou or something. Anyways, i'm gonna go play Touhou. Hap'piraki!
Let's go! It's a blind watch for me for this game! What shenanigans and drama and feels could possibly ensue in this game?! Can't wait for all the badge-showing (hopefully that's still a thing in this game!)
Yay! I always play the Phoenix Wright games blind myself as Lucah plays them, going just a little bit ahead of her. Always something I look forward to! I am almost done with the first chapter. I can say that it always seems like when they give you an option like at 31:57, it doesn’t matter what you pick. I always try to sabotage my game (a byproduct of playing Sierra adventure games) and pick the wrong answer, but they just pull you back to the right path with no consequence.
YAYYYY im so excited!!! also, ace attorney games generally take place about a year apart, and there was a seven year gap between trials and tribulations and apollo justice. at this point, it's been about 8-9 years since maya left at the end of the OG trilogy to focus on her training seriously as the master of kurain
Well, this was a nice surprise! It's been years since I've last experienced this game. Can't wait to see how you'll like the future episodes. I for one, although I have my fair share of critiques just like everyone else, am really fond of this entry.
If memory serves, Kurain Village was Maya and Mia and Pearls' hometown. So, I'm guessing Kura'in is like where they're from but somewhere different. Like a York and New York situation.
I got home from grocery shopping, saw this notification and gasped. Feels like the dual destinies series just happened, but at the same time it feels like it's been ages
The Kingdom of Khura'in and Kurain Village from the past games are two separate locations. Kurain Village is Maya's hometown which was the setting of case 2 from the second game. That's the one where Dr. Grey was murdered in the channeling chamber and it had Ini and Mimi Miney and Maya's aunt Morgan was an accomplice, and it was the first case where Pearl was introduced :)
I gotta say, I love how this game doesn't start in a defendant lobby like all the others. Something about the opening really makes the game feel like it has more depth.
Yup, this game takes full advantage of the foreign setting to bring you the most absurd Ace Attorney names in the series. The best is coming up soon. Also, as surprising as it might be, I'd say the second case in this game is my favorite case in the whole series! I'm excited for you to get to it!
Whoo, so excited for this! I've been playing this for the first time, as the first AA game I've played myself! Really excited to see how the cases treat you, especially with this being the first AA game you've played where I know the stories in advance. :D
I hope you end up liking this game. Personally, it was the game that finally beat out Trials and Tribulations for my favorite entry in the series. IMO there isn't a bad case in the entire game, and the final case especially is just...*chef's kiss*
Yessssss it’s time!!! So excited for you to experience more ace attorney ^^ If you wanna experience it in its original form that’s quite alright! It still holds up quite nicely I’d say Oh, and as you’ve found out, this game is ESPECIALLY egregious with the pun names lmao
I haven’t even watched the video yet but I’ve gotta say when I saw this on the recommended I said “Oh HELL YEAH!” I’m so excited you’ve got to what is possibly my favorite game in the series Lucah!! I’m looking forward to your reactions :D
My personal favourite ace attorney game. I was surprised you brought up that people have been telling you not so good things. I didn't think it was particularly divisive, I've seen less complaints about this game than 2, 4 and 5 but i could be wrong.
Yeah it’s my favourite too and I didn’t have any complaints with it, I enjoyed every single case in this game which is a huge achievement for the series.
@@TGOPomaAlthough that is a fair opinion, many people including myself thought Apollo got majorly sidelined in Dual Destinies in favour of Phoenix and introducing Athena. It made sense story wise but Apollo cleaning the company toilet half the game meant they really wanted to get back to Apollo's story and I was all for it. This game does quite a good job in bringing back a lot of characters and settings but still moves things mostly forward (excluding one major plot point), so I think this was absolutely the right decision to give Apollo more attention again when he was kind of the new protag before Phoenix came back and sort of stole his thunder.
I think it mostly comes from the prosecutor, which typically is a highlight of the series, so it was unusual for that to be a point of contention instead.
About time you got to this one! One of the best games in the series IMO, and you playing this only makes me want a new entry even more. Hey, if Layton can get a new game, why not Phoenix/Apollo? Though I think Athena probably deserves her own game at this point.
YES!!! ITS FINALLY HAPPENING!! I've missed Phoenix Wright Playthroughs, so much that I've binged the first 3 games, and I'm gearing up to tackle Apollo! during the end of the last ace attorney lp i wondered what would come next between this and the great ace attorney. i think this is the better game to get to first!
So excited for this! You were the main way I saw the entire ace attorney story for Apollo Justice and Dual Destinies, but many thanks to Capcom for remastering these modern games! Not sure if you were going to play the other 3DS spinoffs (Great Ace Attorney and Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright) but I HIGHLY recommend them, and TGAA is actually localized (unlike...investigations 2) on modern hardware! Just keep note that TGAA is REAAAALLY long (maybe going to actually get past 100 episodes!), but the story is SUPERB. Anyway, can't wait to watch this installment on your channel!
There is a sort of anime trailer/intro for the game that I think is only on the Nintendo RUclips channel for some reason. I think they added it into the new Apollo Justice Trilogy remake though. That gives a lil more back story to what Maya is doing in Khur’ain and why Phoenix is visiting.
So, fun fact: your copy of the game having the DLC included required making a save file to accomplish. I went through this when Nintendo announced the eShop closure, you couldn't buy the DLC directly off of the eShop, and the menu option to buy it through the game doesn't appear until a save exists. I'm guessing Jon and I did the same thing: launched the game, then mashed Skip until the game allowed us to save and quit. Also these Asinine Attorney cases don't seem to exist in the Apollo Justice Trilogy version, so I guess that's two more reasons for me to take good care of my 3DS.
I actually think they did a good job on every case in this game, like I wouldn’t say any of them are bad at all, and the best moments are really great!
I have no idea who said this game was bad. It's personally one of my faviorite mainline Ace Attorney games. (Though my favorite Ace Attorney games overall are the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles 1&2.)
Can't believe we're fricking here. This game is so good. With that said, did you guys notice that Khurain is so similar to Japanifornia. I mean, there's a Khurainese Judge, and Khurainese Maya, there's even a Khurainese Pain!

6:09 You're thinking of Maya Fey's hometown. KURAIN Village and it was in Justice for All Case 2. Khura'in is a completely new place.
For timeframe, this takes place roughly a year after dual destinies and somewhere around a decade after you last see Maya
Kurain Village = The village where Maya, Mia and Pearls is from
Khura'in = A foreign country
IIRC, they will eventually explain the connection between the two places (besides the name ofc)
Holy Mother be praised, it's Lucah's Spirit of Justice LP! Really excited for this one.
5:28 Ok, I don't know how many people are going to understand this reference but this dude STRAIGHT UP looks like a Sujimon. Also Twilight Realm? What is this, Zelda?
6:31 According to Janet Hsu(One of the localizers), Khura'in is located near Nepal and is based on countries in the general vicinity of the Himalayas, such as Bhutan and Tibet. Japanese trailers for this game originally described the country as being located in the far west of Asia.
Fun fact, the characters for the Khura'inese language are stylized hiragana turned upside-down.
8:13 That's a pun and a half. AND IT DOESN'T END THERE!
8:20 Ok that one's just silly
8:30 You know, if you say this in your head with Japanese accent, it kinda sounds like "Happy Lucky"
9:57 Takeshi Yamazaki, the series director, has speculated that Khura'in relies heavily on tourism financially. This is supposed to explain the country taking serious measures regarding tourism, such as Ahlbi using this expression right here
10:27 Yamazaki has also speculated that magatah'mans have something like red bean paste inside them, and that they are made by hand.
19:35 This is another reason Yamazaki speculated about Khura'in relying heavily on tourism. Why else would there be an english translation of the lycirs?
25:14 not even Khura'in is free of WINSTON PAYNE!
This is it folks!! It's finally here!! Can't wait for more. Also. There is no order to play the cases in. You just play them straight thru. Also the DLC Episode (Time Traveler) Is at the end of the timeline if you are wondering if it fits in somewhere. Also The Asinine are funny What ifs stories. They are non canon to the story as a whole.
Edit 1: No Lucah. Kurain is different for Khura'in. You've been saying it correctly
OH BABY IT BEGINS AGAIN
I NEED TO CATCH UP WITH THE WHOLE SERIES BUT HAVE FUN
IT BEGINS
LET'S GO! I am excited to see this! I haven't played this game but I am always ready to see you play these games it is a highlight in my day.
It's always a good day when there's a new Ace Attorney playthrough from Lucah! Super excited to see what you think about Spirit of Justice and the many, MANY pun names in this game (it gets better/worse from here.)
After spirit of justice I hope you will play someday The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. You will love it!!
OMG I thought this day would never come but it's happening!!!! I'm so excited!! You're going to love this!!
I’ve been so excited for this. It’s my favourite game in the franchise and honestly slightly shattered me emotionally
It’s that time again! Was a blast experiencing the last AA game through your lp, and I’m so excited to do with this one!
I get the feeling you're gonna like this game a lot, Lucah. I can't wait to see how you handle what's in store for you!
Oh snap. Pure coincidence that I was re-watching your other Ace Attorney LPs recently…only for you to begin Spirit of Justice now!
I hope you have fun with this game!
Super excited for this one!
I love this game mainly for its music, but the story is also very good.
I love that you started this just as the AJ trilogy dropped, I'm looking forward to this, it's a good game.
You're gonna love this game Lucah! I'm so excited!
from what I've heard, the DLC is best played after the final case. I don't know if you already heard that or not.
YES! You have no idea how much i've been looking forward to you playing this Lucah. Even if other people might have some criticisms of the story, I definitely feel like the characters themselves make up for it. All I can say for now without spoiling anything is this: you are not prepared for how dumb the names will be.
When the world needed his badge the most, it returned.
Oh heck! I'm ready for another Lucahjin Ace Attorney LP -- one of my favorite things to watch while falling asleep.
The very first Phoenix Wright game that I ever experienced was this one, and it was through Tim's LP of it. I've been greatly looking forward to seeing you play this! All aboard, because HERE WE GO!
I HAVE NEVER CLICKED SO FAST AHHHHHH I love you're ace attorney letsplays!
Woooo! Your Ace Attorney LPs are always a treat! Honestly, I'm kinda glad you're not playing the remake because I currently am and I'd rather see how good it looks for myself. :)
By the way, I know others have told you this already, but Khura'in is not the same as Kurain, though they're obviously connected.
So glad you're starting a new series! Love your content as always. ❤
I'm very very excited for you to get into my favourite of all the mainline AA games
26:39 Isn't it obvious? The reason here's here is that we always have to face off against a Payne. It's tradition.
I waited to see anything spirit of justice ever since it came out just to watch you play this game, and I am so excited
Your original PW playthroughs got me into the games myself and I’ve absolutely loved them, so I’m definitely happy to see you play them again
It still holds up quite nicely I’d say
Oh, and as you’ve found out, this game is ESPECIALLY egregious with the pun names lmao
Happy you are finally getting around to this game, it’s great
I haven’t even watched the video yet but I’ve gotta say when I saw this on the recommended I said “Oh HELL YEAH!” I’m so excited you’ve got to what is possibly my favorite game in the series Lucah!! I’m looking forward to your reactions :D
Ive been looking forward to you playing this!
The game isn't as popular because some believe certain characters got shafted in favor of Apollo.
@@TGOPoma i don't necessarily disagree but apollo's gotten shafted previously, so it's about time he got the spotlight more
I think it mostly comes from the prosecutor, which typically is a highlight of the series, so it was unusual for that to be a point of contention instead.
So excited for this! Ready for Lucah's journey through SofJ
(I need to catch up so I can join you on this journey, this is blind to me as well!)
✌️💙 Lucahjin!
PS. Is Phoenix VA'd by Sam Riegel??? If so, that's awesome. 😊
Nice to see the SOJ playthrough!
Also, yeah, "Kurain" and "Khura'in" are pronounced differently, it takes getting used to but there is a difference 😂
during the end of the last ace attorney lp i wondered what would come next between this and the great ace attorney. i think this is the better game to get to first!
I thought this game was really great. You will love it
There is a sort of anime trailer/intro for the game that I think is only on the Nintendo RUclips channel for some reason.
This is personally my favorite mainline game in the franchise! I think it's flaws are mostly blown out of proportion
I actually think they did a good job on every case in this game, like I wouldn’t say any of them are bad at all, and the best moments are really great!
How did I miss this?! I'm so excited!!! You're finally back and at yet another Phoenix Wright game!
Hell yeaaaahh! Finally!
I've waited years for this
19:15 This takes place right after Dual Destinies so I'd say about 9 years.
YESSS! omg i cant describe how excited i am! hope you have lots of fun with this game!!!! cant wait to see your reactions❤️❤️❤️
I'm super excited, I really enjoyed watching you Duel Destinies playthrough and was anxiously awaiting each new episode 😁
To be fair, Phoenix barely knows the laws of Japanfornia courts.
NGL, I wasn't expecting this!!! I was like with how. Virtues last reward was so intense and was like oh maybe it'll be a lighter game. (I guess that explains the Mario party lol but yay!) I love this series and can't wait to see how this game is. This is also blind for me and I can't wait to see what unfolds.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!!!
i’m honestly so excited, your ace attorney playthroughs are my comfort series’!!!! :D
At this point, it would've been 9 years since Maya left for Khura'in. So she should be 28 by now.
