Once again, many thanks David. I have a couple of recordings of a some of these, that I thought were quite good, but on sampling these performances they are on another level. Such beautiful music. I thought your 100th Reference Recording might be something special, and so it proved.

I own the other set of Barshai with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi on Brilliant and it is quite bad, maybe not so much the sound but the performances are boring and lifeless. And I have the 8th quartet by the Moscow Virtuosi with Spivakov and it is amazing.
On this occasion of your 100th reference recordings video, I want to express my appreciation of the series. I wonder, though, if you should have chosen a different title. Reading a record review in 2024, I expect the reference recording to be the one to equal or beat in the present time. Your series speaks of the recording to equal or beat in, say, 1974. In essence you’re giving a history of classical recordings from a certain angle. Better title - “A History of Reference Recordings”?
One hundred?! Are you sure you didn't add a zero? Incredible. By the way, who is the reference classical music vlogger? And don't say Authentic Sound, because, remember, it has nothing to do with who's your favorite. 😆

I picked this up a while ago when you talked about them in another video, perhaps a Dave's favs. I great add to my dsch collection. I play them often.
Love these works and this twofer CD. The Amsterdam Sinfonietta’s single CD is characteristically fine too, with terrific sound.
