Remember one thing kiddies...he has a full garage with a lift air tools and a ton of other tools the average person doesn't. Makes it look easy, right? A good friend of mine worked for a NASCAR Cup team as a body fabricator and learned every race car trick in the world. He makes me look like a damned fool as he does shit I can't even think of. We painted the hood and two toned the sides of my truck a couple of years ago and there was a rusted out spot in the fender behind one of the front wheels. He had that cut out and tacked in a new piece of metal before I could sand on the other side of the truck. Tools and knowledge are the key.
@@alwaysopen7970 - I'm sure your friend was talented but that sounds like something a run of the mill body man can do. NOW, if he manufactured you a NEW fender on an English wheel, THAT'S another story. He just might be able to.
Great video. I have been watching several of your videos here today and I like your style. Like someone else has mentioned, your clean, you're neat, no foul language, and you're real good at explaining things. I happen to have an old Cub cadet similar to this one that you just worked on. Mine is close to 1200 hours on it. I've replaced the spindles, tie rod ends, clutch, axle housing, and switches. I'm still using it. I have about six acres on our property, and five or six other lawns that I mow. I also have the Cub cadet RZT 50. Done a lot of work to both of these machines. Thank you for your video and your professionalism. Looking forward to more.
Thank you Mustie1, you've given me the knowledge and confidence to adjust the valves on my riding mower, and also carburetor cleaning on my garden tractor and snowblower, all in the past two weeks. All are running great now.
Having watched a dozen or more videos with Mustie, this guy is one of the best small engine people I have ever seen. Gosh, I wish I had that brain for small engines. Great videos and great work. At least I’ll have some good videos to refer to. Would love to shadow this guy for about a month. Thanks for the videos!!
Thanks for taking my mind off all this craziness of the world right now. There's nothing like watching somebody else fix their broken lawn mower instead of me fixing mine. :-)
Very cool! You just answered a question for me. I've been working on a used generator my son picked up. Cleaned up the carburator, new plug and it would run good for less than a minute and die. It had a solenoid on the bottom of the carburator. It had 2 wires running through a high temperature insulated sleeve. Only one coming out to ground. After watching this, I pulled back the sleeve and found the hot lead someone chopped off. Now to determine where it went! Thank you so much!!
Speaking for myself I would not presume to second guess you, having watched many of your videos if the valves needed service I know you wouldn't be able to help yourself. After watching you repair the vertical crank seal on a lawn mower I picked up a can of the right stuff haven't had an opportunity to try it yet but I'm confident properly used it will work thanks for the video
Big thanks Mustie1. Recently picked up the same model Cub Cadet for my son and your video will be a great help for trouble shooting some of fits ills. First thing is to fix the broken exhaust bolt.
Always fun hanging in the garage, Mustie. Great tip to look for rear wheels that are bolted on verses those that have a shaft sticking through. Thanks, Bud!

Thanks Mustie, I've learned a lot watching your videos. Feeling much more confident to buy a cheap 2H "project" mower and repair it, get a cheap working mower, hopefully a zero-turn.
Yay - more Lily! She's a good girl. Like you said - that seemed too easy! Which one to do next...? Thanks for letting us wrench with you Darren - and love on Lily some extra. Dogs lifespan is too, too short! Chuck in Kansas
Nice job all around I really liked the carrot fix on the deck lever. That is the way to do it no time wasted waiting on parts and no money wasted. Waste not want not.
I have a 2164 that's always been garage kept and well maintained. It's a great tractor. Everything is the same except for the engine, and the front bumper. I am not sure if your bumper is original. My pto belt just broke. I will replace it this week but it looks like an easy job. Thanks for the video, I look forward to seeing more.
Simple suggestion, to check continuity where it is difficult to get to the connector, I stick a straight pin through the insulation on wire, on the side of the connection where power is supposed to be. It leaves a small hole that to me is not a problem. Works for me!!
Hi Mustie, You seem to be very resourceful, handy and knowledge. But you do not always show how to do the in between steps. You find a an issue, start working on it, say you are going to clean some part, do 'xyz ' and jump to the completed task. Being a new comer to working on yard equipment, I would really like to see the in between steps. How you pressure washer the engine, how you bagged the carburetor before you pressure washer the engine, etc. The little steps are just as important, if not more important, especially for newbie like myself, so we do not cause other issues. Thanks for showing stuff, but please include more of the small step. If others don't want to see how you do the small stuff, they can always fastforward. Out of gas. Don't you have a "check list"? Don't feel bad. My wife has been working on a patient for that. Her car has a special light. When it comes on you drive 20 more miles before you worry about that. It's in the manual!
Mustie, know this is way to late to do anything for this project, but the release button looked to be 1/4" x 20 threads per inch- the same as "all thread rod" and there are couplers for putting rods together- for rods 1/4. 5/16, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4 , and 1 inch, all course threaded. Next trip to the store, get a few of each; they are handy like the pockets on a shirt! Oh, and they are cheap, but not free- the screwdriver handle solution was worthy of Mustie!

The horizontal crank and shaft drive cubbies are killer. My buddy picked up a 1440 last week without a mower for $125 and needed nothing. He is going to use it in FLA to pull boats around with. I am still jealous.

Nice video bud. I have a 2011 Cub Cadet LTX 1050 that shredded a drive belt. I've ordered a new belt which will get here in a couple days. I removed the deck and pulled the torn belt which was wedged under the transmission pulley and did some preventive maintenance since I had access to everything. I noticed that the transmission cooling fan/pulley could be turned by hand with the transmission engaged and disengaged. I also noticed that I could engage the transmission and move back and forth a little and the fan wouldn't move at all. This doesn't seem normal to me. I haven't been able to find anything on this anywhere yet, so some input would be appreciated. If I can fix it, now would be the time while I have in somewhat apart. Thanks for sharing.
Had the fuel solenoid problem on my VW Sirocco, dodgy wire. Quick and easy test is to just hold the solenoid and switch the ignition on and off. Even if you can't hear it you can feel it clunking back and forth, or not.
I have a similar cub cadet. Bought in the early 2000's. Next size smaller I think. It's been good, except for their choice of an Onan engine, which is now long out of the small engine business. Parts are unobtainable.
Long time again I had old tool, was like your tool was a power of socket wrench set had a great action to it, I love that tool can use it for time and everything else, was cool tool but no more have it! Think was make in the 90's I guess
One question that I have always had is, Do you have your own lawn mower for cutting grass(Not the Honda, and the Ariens is gone) or do you just cut it with the series of repaired mowers? Just thinking for quickly and easily you repair these you wouldn't need to have a permanent one.
funny thing mustie1 as I drop the tractor off at the customers. Thing was running fabulous out in the street. He drove it up his street and it died spit and coughed and there it sat.. I feel for you with that thing for 20 minutes and realized it was that again and when he went uphill I just leaned back enough that it run out of gas.
I'm amazed people throw out stuff that is perfectly good after a little TLC. I keep my Cub Cadet 125 running because it's just too expensive to replace!
Another fine victory, but did we expect anything other than that? Thanks for another half hour of fine entertainment, and learning. Too bad you couldn't charge for the teaching parts of your videos. I am sure there are plenty who would be willing to pay. Well done.
That mower is really similar to my 2000 series lt 2142 are the decks the same . asking because my decks about shot the guy i got from stored it outside for last 10 yrs and its rusted bad and I've had no luck finding a replacement other than new old stock which cost more than the mower did me and come bare no pulleys ,spindles , springs etc.

Long time again I had old tool, was like your tool was a power of socket wrench set had a great action to it, I love that tool can use it for time and everything else, was cool tool but no more have it! Think was make in the 90's I guess
Nice Dog.. She is now the star of your channel buddy ;-)
One question that I have always had is, Do you have your own lawn mower for cutting grass(Not the Honda, and the Ariens is gone) or do you just cut it with the series of repaired mowers? Just thinking for quickly and easily you repair these you wouldn't need to have a permanent one.
Nice to have a relatively easy fix once in a while.
Id drive the thing Back to the prior owner and sell it back to them with a comment like, it was just outa gas. Great find.
funny thing mustie1 as I drop the tractor off at the customers.
Those old ih cubs are great machines
Another fine victory, but did we expect anything other than that? Thanks for another half hour of fine entertainment, and learning. Too bad you couldn't charge for the teaching parts of your videos. I am sure there are plenty who would be willing to pay. Well done.
LOL your loverly dog just wasn't in the mood :-D
Well that tractor didn't seem bad at all, just needed a bit of fondling :-D
and the petrol helped too..........
That one came out really good. Nice work! What do you normally mow your lawn with?
I have always wanted one of those types that can pick up the grass and would really love one
Nice job! big big fan from Kentucky
I love your optimism!
Still have my Craftsman speedwrench-still great for oil pans-remember when we didn't have all of the cordless tools?
Køhler Commands are extremely well built
7:15 "flat Ronnie wrench"!!! Love the Howard Stern reference!
