Just a suggestion guy's might be a good idea to put a tarp over the diggings when you leave at the end of your day. Then if it rains you off you are covered
Danny Elfman - 'The Little Things' springs to mind when I watch you two guys working. It's the work practice of attention to detail that makes your work stand out from 'The also Rans'. As the old saying goes - 'Quality is never accidental' Great job yet again, even the squealing hips from Steve wedged in the trench didn't stop progress!
Swear you guys are spoiling me with all this plumbing content recently 😂 Do like a it of drainage, very therapeutic. Just the digging you got to do first 😂.
@@SteveAndAlexBuild you've probably already seen them but in case you haven't polypipe do an adjustable bend that makes life a bit easier and fernco do some icon couplers for clay to plastic. They're ribbed shove inside the clay and then just push the plastic on. Great bits of kit.
Wow that's a great job there lads it reminds me of my first drainage job in 1969 all glazed pipes then calking with tarred hemp and pointing all the joints all the falls had to be bang on for the inspector he came and rolled a ball down each length to the manhole and if it got suck it failed all the falls had to be bang on and he plugged up the pipes in the manhole and filled all the pipes with water to check for leaks, bloody hell hey lads how the times have changed nice one Steve and Alex keep up the good work.
Years ago we fitted some 24” steel pipe underground and connected it to a cast iron pipe. The connection was a spigot that was leaded. First it was tallowed and hemp string driven in, then we had to put a rubber pipe around as a mould and poured molten lead in the joint from a pot on a crane. Once set we had to go round with offset chisels to drive the lead in. What a job that was!
New to the channel and have a feeling we are from the same neck of the woods, although I'm now in Runcorn. Love watching quality tradesmen doing a quality job. Nice one lads
Top job. Well, being a bit slow I had to look up why it's a "Rest bend" - Simple: it takes the soil pipe from the vertical to the lying down i.e. resting 😊. It's an education - thank you both.
You both do great work, as often as possible you tidy up your workspace, something that’s very important for your safety, and makes working a bit more pleasant. I imagine you are kept very busy with word of mouth recommendation. You deserve it. Thanks for sharing.
You could grow potatoes in that soil, lovely stuff to dig. Size 10 soil compactors used at the end. Excellent work. You deserve an easy job once a while 👍
Brilliant video, love anything underground and how you explain it in such detail. Is there any other way to avoid a potential kink where clay meets plastic (27.34)? Do they sell oversize collars so plastic fits over clay thus aiding flow. Or is it always a case of lining up the bottom of plastic with bottom of clay and trying to avoid a kink?
Hi Steve and Alex, sorry for asking what may have been a stupid question about the fit of the 'y' pipe to the clay, i have watched it over again and have got the idea now, i will be doing the same thing soon, thanks for some great videos.
Not having a go, and it’s easy looking at a finished job and seeing something you would have done differently. But if you had put the coupler on the other side of the branch the pipe would have be in a better line/ straight, and why wouldn’t you replace the old gully when you have the opportunity to connect onto the new drain.
@@SteveAndAlexBuild really 🤔see the bit you said on camera about the Robbie’s altering the guttering and putting the new downspout into the new gully. 🤷🏻♂️
I found exactly the same in my garden only it was serving the neighbours garage it was after my connection - the building inspector said it was redundant and to cut it off the utility company repaired for free as the 6” pipe serves several other houses.
Ar c10 minutes you shouldn't be talking about putting roof water into the foul sewer when there's a separate surface water drain. Very neat work on what you did though. FWIW I reckon to set gulleys and rest bends into a shovelfull of 'compo' to give the plumber a hand when he's pushing and pulling later
Dont get many easy digs Steve glad it all worked well for you. Still hard work though mate .invent a few phone calls thats what i do to get out of doing it 😂 😂 👍👌🧱🧱🧱
rest bend is the answer you're looking for Steve

Lots of digging I can only imagine how many sq yards of dirt I moved in my lifetime. Good thorough job as usual fellas. 😊
Cheers Mark, very easy digging on this one .. almost enjoyed it 😁🧱👍🏽

Hip is grim mate 🥺🧱👍🏽

I think it’s the latter and relying on the installer to get it right. 😬🧱👍🏽

The old gully is for surface water and we were doing the foul 🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuildyeah I can appreciate that ,but it’s a combined system as you discovered during your dig so it a like for like replacement.
