Ratbikes are usually flat/primer black plus rust & dirt, have stickers, medalions extra & unneccessary bits bolted to them & 99% of riders vvouldn't vvant to ride that "dirty thing" . I should knovv as every bike I've ovvned has become a ratbike. Ratikes sprouted the sub genre of post apocalyptic bikes .

If you hit your brakes hard enough like maybe in an emergency, your back tire will lock up on you and that right there would get you killed quick.
A friend did something similar to this. Checked his sheds, found enough bits to build a complete machine, and eventually got it licenced as a 1947 Triumph 500. Not very rapid, but properly loud!😮

8:26 is the best. It’s about the only one that’s a complete rat rod. Everything on it looked rustic. All the others had the rustic feel too, but they all some actual nice ass rims...which makes no sense. You have a rusted bare rat bike, but with candy painted chopper rims lol. It just really fucked with the aesthetic of the bikes I feel like. If you’re gonna have something and call it a rat rod, then you may as well go 100% rat rod. When I think rat rod I don’t want to see anything shining on the bike.
They all look like they were built by the same person/ company...... same rear tire, rear fender, frame, front fork setup, and the train lantern break lights...... bought not built smh
I think that the appeal of the rat style is that it looks like some guy just decided to take a bunch of old scrap metal in a barn and turn it into a vehicle
I hate to admit it ..... But I tend to use what I have to build cool stuff too ! But, dang I sure would hate to see one of these guys get their shorts wrapped up on a flywheel or jack shaft, or other amazing wicked jagged metal ~
There isn't one bike on there that doesn't show imagination and fantastic creativity. I would be proud to build anything like them.. To all the people that left negative comments .... Show us a photo of what you built...
