The marvelous sound of big single really good engine sound no crank noise only valve tappet so good condition I ever used BSA 500 for many years big single is so. nice machine.
I had each of those bikes; the VL in 1949 and the Triumph. in 1951 (mine was a Speed Twin and bobbed a lot more with a Whizzer gas tank bobbed rear fender and no front fender.
@@gregorytimmons4777 Two of my uncles had them in the 30s/40s. A '27 H-D VL and an Indian Scout of various years. They had no money but they knew how to fix stuff so they bought what they could afford, make it go and went for a ride!
what was up with the scout? was the back wheel on backwards? i see a sprocket spinning in the breeze but no chain? the rear sprocket was on the other side????
Walter K Bauer don’t you mean forging pistons? The movie showed how, ( The Worlds Fastest Indian) .... he was an interesting engineer and did very well on minimal resources. Indian must have been a common Motorcycle in The South Island of NZ, my Dad came from Dunedin, not far from where Burts story begins and had a scout before he went to the Korean War.
@@hammered0184 Back when women generally had very, very long hair, it was a radical thing to have it chopped off so it was about ear to neck length. It was called "bobbing the hair". The excess parts are taken off the whole bike. In the USA, a Yamaha XS650 is a popular bike to bob. The rear end is made rigid and excess is taken off. Electric start comes off, too. I'm old and need my "electric foot". Taking a great bike and turning it into a piece of shit, IMHO. But, do what you like. It might be getting a pile of shit out of the garage and on the road and there certainly is merit to that.
Awesome bikes, terrible photography Try standing still for a bit so we can actually get a better look. All the walking around is enough to make a person sea sick.
I wish you guys would quit using the word "Bobber", they were called "Low Boys" "Works Specials" or "Specials" a Bobber is a Queer, don't you guys know that?
The 1st bike was amazing. I noticed an exhaust for each valve. In 1930 this must have been a local hero...
Triumph WOW!!!!! Sound perfect!
The marvelous sound of big single really good engine sound no crank noise only valve tappet so good condition I ever used BSA 500 for many years big single is so. nice machine.
My personal favorite is the first shown, the NSU bobber with loads of patina.
I wonder if it is really a custom bike or just a lucky survivor ....
That NSU looks like a design derived from BSA singles. Amazing how some of those one lungers idle so low.
Ain't picking a favourite or best but the scout 101 and triumph look neat machines. The BMW tickover sounds awesome.
lovely old bikes!
The NSU is the most amazing and beautiful
Norman Müller seemed to go alright too!

Glenn Curtiss, the Aviator, took his V-8 motorcycle to a record breaking speed of 136 MPH in January of 1907.
I know.
1:49 Invisible drive chain ,,AMAZING!!
Yeah! It's great! Don't have to lube or adjust it!. (Must not be finished yet.)
You guys are joking right lol. You can plainly see the cover over top of it
I had a 600 cc 1951 Norton that idled like the first bike, you could hear the piston hit, 300 rpm or so. It was low reving and slow accelerating
Those must be the ones rockers modded into Tritons. Can't crack the ton at the Ace with that old Norton. Although it is very cool!
Love the NSU..thank for the vid..
Beautiful bike
Sweet build!
So nice machine which alive till now good engine sounds.

That is the spirit
5:16. Did you see that cay haul ass when he started kicking the Triumph? The cat knew what was about to happen.
horex has a plunger rear shock..if i had any bobber, i would want a plunger
Imagine how badass you would have been owning a motorcycle in the 20s and 30s lol
Yeah, because they cost as much or more than the basic cars of the era. An Indian was more than a Model A or T.

Cool!
こういう風にサビでやれちゃっても絵になるのはやっぱ昔の鉄バイクだよな。
最近はプラスチック多様だから、鉄とプラスチックの違いが錆びてくるともろに出るからね。

one of oldest custom bikes are from speed record holders like Burt Munros Indian from 20s

It's always the Harley guy that has to rev it to the moon to keep it running at first.

never heard the term, Bobber... what's that about?
Stripped down and abbreviated rear fender. Stupid term in my opinion, but I am vastly outnumbered which makes me wrong.

Indian for life!
top top top
No bobbers. I keep seeing my junk getting burned off in a nano second by a hot tire
They all sound nice, although, some of them are not tuned properly. Slow it down, these are old magic engines. They are not on coke, yet!!!
😍

7:55 cool bike but your wife wants her purse back!
If you're going to ride it do more than just put gas and oil in it
cool

Anyone know why the second bike the Indian scout had no chain, maybe to keep anyone from riding it.?
Bike's not finished but the engine runs. Has a chrome chainwheel on the wheel. Don't know if I'd spend money on that.
