It's more than touching & relatable, it's thematically tied to the gameplay too. The story is important to experiencing the game because the whole theme of the game is overcoming struggles. If it were just gameplay, I don't think celeste would be nearly as special or engaging. Smant even sounded like he was getting more frustrated with the game than enjoying himself near the end of Chap 3.
@@EmoryIllustrated well, it is chapter 3 so I think it's fair. It does kind of have a stupid spike compared to chapters 1 and 2. A lot of people get frustrated with it first time around. Hell, I play through the game myself multiple times and I still don't like it.

It definitely exceeds expectations for everyone that plays it, this game is magical and it only gets better and better, specially when you can play it well from the go like you. I recently finished 100% of this game without dying all in one go (including all alternate sides and collectibles) and it was definitely the hardest thing I've ever done. I've been binge watching Celeste video essays and reviews and YT put this in my recs. I'm surprised how fast you beat the game considering how casually you seemed to go about it. It would be cool to see you practice and go for a real speedrun. I've seen so many crazy players on this. Some people have beat the entire game deatlhless, some people have beat it 100% sub 1 hour. It's really impressive to see the exploits and different techniques people pull off so perfectly in this game. This is the game that got me into speedrunning. Anyways, chill video. @@Lord-Cyrus I imagine, it's amazing seeing how people get so technical and good at it. I don't think I know another platformer with as much momentum and crafted so perfectly for speedrunning while also being easy for casual players. The game deserves all the praise it's gotten over the years.
@@exzisd Celeste speedruns destroy your hands, I know of 2 people who used to speedrun it and both have carpal tunnel issues and have to wear a wrist band, it's a tough game to speedrun
@@exzisd A very useful tip is to give your hands a ton of breaks, I have a bad shoulder from playing games and honestly I never took breaks or stretched, after following the tips and a pillow to lean on it's gotten better
After playing this game it has become one of my favorites of all time, I just finished my third full play through (except farewell again) so I’m glad more people will see this absolutely amazing game

I know the main game is nothing compared to the B and C sides, but I remember beating the last level and thinking "this was the best game that I never want to play again" I'm big into souls games, and the end of this game felt like some true masochism in the best kind of way. I'm sure I'll find my way back to it eventually.

Celeste is a game that wants to include the player (you) in the story, not just as some bystander, watching events unfold, and you miss that entire experience in skipping dialogue. Obviously not a requirement, but it really feels better with context.

yeah the way he just totally dismissed it and skimmed through like he didn't care just hurt to watch. i'm glad he's enjoying the platforming but thats only part of what makes the game so great, the dialogue is so important to the narrative and he almost seems annoyed when he has to read it. just made me sad to be honest.
As an ARB and any% runner of ~350 hours, watching smant figure out hypers, nearly Full Clearing 1a on his FIRST TRY, getting 2a heart almost immediately, Full Clearing 2a on his first run through, and doing some of the hardest levels in the game casually made me laugh tears. GG smant.
Ant and the game aren't wrong on the death philosophy. By dying, you are indeed failing, but by learning from your failures you are learning from dying.
I highly recomment learning all 365 million speedrun tricks, as this is one of the most fun games to run when you get the hang of it, there are strats for every room for every skilllevel. If you choose to do it, GL
the only thing I can say after watching the beginning of the video is, you should probably have climb mode set to inverted with how much you like to not press the button also, fun fact, it says chapter clear if you get every single collectable in one run

yeah the way he just totally dismissed it and skimmed through like he didn't care just hurt to watch. i'm glad he's enjoying the platforming but thats only part of what makes the game so great, the dialogue is so important to the narrative and he almost seems annoyed when he has to read it. just made me sad to be honest.

As an ARB and any% runner of ~350 hours, watching smant figure out hypers, nearly Full Clearing 1a on his FIRST TRY, getting 2a heart almost immediately, Full Clearing 2a on his first run through, and doing some of the hardest levels in the game casually made me laugh tears. GG smant.
Ant and the game aren't wrong on the death philosophy. By dying, you are indeed failing, but by learning from your failures you are learning from dying.

I highly recomment learning all 365 million speedrun tricks, as this is one of the most fun games to run when you get the hang of it, there are strats for every room for every skilllevel.
