I used to make these when I was a kid after I saw Crocodile Dundee. I haven't even thought about that in decades until just now, you just brought back some memories.
Back in the very early 1960's as a young teenager in elementary school, we all had 12-inch 'wooden' measuring rulers and they all had a hole at the end of these rulers that we tied a rope at the end of it and swing it like crazy! Basically we never knew what is was called, but of coarse we imitated a Bull Roar.....it was fun!
Love the music instruments series Amos! IT really makes your content unique compared to other bushcrafting videos, I think it’ll be really awesome if you could come out with more videos experimenting how to make music instruments with things u can find in the woods, like the one u did in Maine with fowler, harvest nature to make music ❤
Amos you are such a talented individual love to watch you make the variouse, the bow, musical intruments the drum and so much more , including survival and bushcraft. and of coarse watching you catch the fish you have great knowledge of all mentioned , You are amazing in all things you doand desrve a few thumbs up , keep bring the videos to us , god bless you and your family they must be so proud of you . Ontario, Canada .
Hahahaha Thank You Sooooooo Much for this.....I Would love for more Primitive/Bushcraft gatherings talk about and show these instruments as well as others....Cane flutes ets....Thanks For the Inspiration
I look forward to your uploads Amos.. you always surprise and impress me with your knowledge and ideas. I enjoy the outdoors, I respect all animal life and all of nature.. but even more than that, I am a lover of sound and music. This upload was particularly special to me for that reason. I already liked your content but I’m willing to say I love it now. 🙏 please keep filming & uploading
That's the sound Crocodile Dundee made to let His Aborigani Friends know He was in the Bush👍 Either way very interesting, you are very good at it 😊 Thanks 👍 🌟. JO JO IN VT 💞💨
I remember that scene now. thanks for the reminder, I very much enjoyed that film. I know it has been and still being used ceremoniously by natives so even though we put these things in pop culture we have to also keep in consideration the intention the ancestors and present day natives have
Just like movie crocodile Dundee when he said he’s gonna make a phone call an he when to the cliff an staring spinning an it made that sound Yessah Amos with the most 🤘🏽🤘🏽🔥💯🏝️
Hey Amos, No wonder I feel the connection with you. (Kindred) I enjoy all of your videos. You have the touch, and artistic ability to create amazing things. I Thank you for sharing with everyone. Alot of people are learning from your videos! You are a very good teach! I'm always watching, and learning some new things from you, and I Thank You Much! GBU.,SM.,NZ., ✌❤🙂🙏🤗
That is absolutely amazing I'm so glad you showed us this. I can't wait to try and make one of those myself. You are so talented and I love seeing you make stuff from the wood. You are absolutely amazing. I can't wait to see more from you and my goodness you really are just so amazing I can't say that enough and appreciate everything you put on your channel for us can't wait to see more from you with the musical aspect.
It reminds me of doing poi, it's a traditional mouri hunting technique , nowadays used for fun and performance. I'm going to have a go.....noisy poi , yay!
Hello Amos, I saw this instrument on Crocodile Dundee long ago. I'm now in the process of building myself a bow with arrows like you made, I will email you photos when Im finished
This very interesting I've never heard of this ancient instrument I would definitely love to see more of these ancient instruments thanks for the awesome video.
Great video Amos. I love that sound it always reminds me of the film Crocodile Dundee as he uses one to telephone his friends lol. Would paracord be better to use as the string than that leather? Love that you left the part in you smashing a window or something lol 😂 hope it wasn’t a neighbours green house lol 😂.
This was very interesting Amos. Kinda reminds me of a bola that the Inuit used to snare ptarmigan. I'm looking forward to future musical instrument videos. Have you ever made/played a pan flute? Have a great week. Blessings from Canada. 🍁
Super cool video, it's the first one of yours that I've seen. I'm really glad that you mentioned the airfoil right at the end, because I had been wondering about it! I had thought to myself that your bullroarers (as well as all of the ones in the thumbnails of the suggested videos on the sidebar, haha,) are basically wings. I couldn't see in the video, but I imagine that the roarer twists very rapidly as it swings around, and as the air passes over the wing, and that's what produces the sound. But is the airfoil necessary? I'm fascinated by the Apache tzi-ditindi in the insert at 1:26, as it's completely different! The rectangle isn't an airfoil to my mind (although you may correct me on that. I'm a highschool dropout with no education in physics or engineering) but I'm sure those chevrons carved into one of the faces have a similar effect. They must catch the air on only that one side, and the resulting drag causes it to twist. It makes me wonder what would happen if you tried other shapes, like a maple spinner, or a spoon. I'm going to do some research of my own into this, but since you're both the best maker and user of the bullroarer that I've seen so far, I'd love to have your thoughts on this!
@ Amos .I made a bullroarer a few years back but I didn't have all the moves like you. lol. I would have ended up tied up like a pig ready for the fire pit.
Cool! Now you can annoy the Sasquatch.
That's how crocodile dundee called his aboriginal friends
🎶Praise God with the Bull Roar!🎶 Thank you, Awesome Amós!
I used to make these when I was a kid after I saw Crocodile Dundee. I haven't even thought about that in decades until just now, you just brought back some memories.

😂 imagine using a bull roar at 3am in your neighborhood freaking out your neighbors then using a azteca whistle right after.

Watching tonight when I get home!!!!!
the sound of the bull roarers you made reminded me of the buzzing of a mosquito in my ear! 🦟 😂
unless you whack yourself in the head with it the bullroarer is a little less annoying than the mosquito🤣
