  • With the latest version of DaVinci Resolve not working on my old iMac anymore, I wondered which version of DaVinci Resolve still worked on it AND where to get it.
    Fortunately the guys from Blackmagic Design keeps an archive of all their software releases here:
    www.blackmagic...
    which is where I found the macOS installer for version 16.2.8 [the last version supported on macOS High Sierra]
    This video covers the basic steps followed to get it installed.

      Yeah - for some reason the captured screen did not render well - that's why I added the comments on screen to guide.
      I may try to re-do this video in future

      @@andresgiraldo4377 my iMac is an old Mid 2010 model which has an ATI Radeon HD 5670 512MB card :-). And this is the one I used to install this version of DaVinci Resolve and it works fine.
      When I captured the video for the channel, I used a USB capture card - but I think it messed up the resolution.
      I hope to fix this soon & re-publish the video with better results.

      Hi there, this normally happens when the version you downloaded (Da Vinci Resolve 16.x.x) is maybe 1 version later than supported on your Mac (10.13).
      I had to go back to previous versions of Da Vinci until I found a working version.
      It is a pain, but the only way I could find the latest supported version on my Mac at that point.

    Hi, i downloded and they asking to install mac os 11 or up is required , what shall i do?

    • @LazyManJoe
      @LazyManJoe  18 дней назад

      Hi @shameemm467 - if the installer asks for macOS 11 it means you need to download an earlier version of Davinci. I had to work my way back through the list of installers to find one which worked.
      On my Mac the eventual version that worked was Davinci 16.2.8, but it depends on your Mac and OS - so you will have to use trial & error to find a working combination.
      Also remember that you won't be able to upgrade from that version once you have a working version and you will need to stick with it, as the next version may require an upgraded OS.
      This is a very tedious process to find a working combination.
      The other option is to try Davinci Resolve 16 as a base to know whether version 16 onwards will work on your machine (and then install each update until it doesn't work anymore) - if this doesn't work, then try Davinci Resolve 15.3.1 (which was the last 15 release) as this release states macOS 10.12.6 Sierra as a minimum.

    • @LazyManJoe
      @LazyManJoe  Месяц назад

      Hi @arshhealthplanet - I originally did this quite some time ago on my old Mac at that stage and I have to say it was quite a struggle to find a working version of DaVinci as well.
      I do recall also having an issue with a version of DaVinci which did not seem to want to open and I think it is related to the graphic card drivers.
      Either try rebooting the Mac (doesn't always help, but sometimes ...🙂); or try an earlier version of DaVinci Resolve.
      I went through countless install/uninstall sequences to get a working version.
      Good luck!

    Hello. thank you for the video. I have High Sierra. I followed the steps in the video but unfortunately, it is not letting me install it because it asks for system 11.0 onwards.??? Can you help me, please?

    • @LazyManJoe
      @LazyManJoe  27 дней назад +1

      Hi Jona - the only thing I can think of for this is that the version you’re trying to install will only work on later versions of MacOS (I assume when you say system 11.0 onwards you mean the next version of MacOS after High Sierra).
      If the version of DaVinci you tried doesn’t work, you need to try an earlier version (& if that doesn’t work, even an earlier version)
      The process can be very tedious and once you find a working version, you will have to stick to that going forward as you won’t be able to upgrade DaVinci as the upgrade will require an upgraded version of MacOS as well 😅

      The Studio version is the paid version & thus needs a key.
