- DETAILS
the "introduction" here is defined as the opening part of the song before the main credited artist (if not applicable, main vocalist) starts singing the main defined vocal line of the song
backing vocals can be part of the intro
only live performances count
Other details
for a few performances (United Kingdom, San Marino, Azerbaijan) it was difficult to tell whether the main artists were singing along with the backing vocals, but I checked multiple rehearsal videos from the time and my instincts turned out to be correct
it was quite hard to draw the line between where the interjections ended and the vocal line began with Norway but the place that makes the most sense to cut off is before she starts the sung part (despite none of it being on the studio version)
I hope you enjoy the video!

Always thought it was Nikki who did that dodgy opening line. The more you know.
Not many long-intros and none over 30 seconds. 5 non-intros, 3 intros over 20 seconds and 1 micro-intro. Still took 7 minutes since there are 43 countries.
Iconic songs.
RIP Vlatko 😢🇲🇰
Honestly, 2011 was not too bad of a Eurovision year
Not counting 0 second intro length, when was the last time more than one have the same intro length prior to Finland and San Marino (both are 15.62) in 2011.
I love Lithuanian and Maltese intros
Five countries without intro, however good intros such as Serbia, Greece, Lithuania, Spain, Estonia and Portugal
Unpopular opinion but probably the best esc , no controversy during the show and just all around happy vibes and the crowds reaction are the best ever
Unless you count the technical failures in semifinal 1.
@@JAN-qf5yt did anyone other than Poland have technical difficulties?
@@MatthewEade-hj6tf Apparently first five performers in SF1 all of which didn't qualify.
@JAN-qf5yt yeah , I allways found that semi quite funny , 1-5 didn't qualify and then 6-10 qualified
@@JAN-qf5ytWitch thencical difficulties, The performance looks fine to me
Switzerland's representive Anna Rossinelli comes from Basel, the host town of the ESC 2025. And it lies on the river Rhine, just like the host city of 2011...
Let's hope she gets to perform. She was VERY underrated in the final with her magnificent performance.
The only good 12 seconds of that Swedish song.
Oh I agree, the key changes between the verses and the chorus are super annoying, and the lyrics sound like they were written last minute before the show
As for Bosnia and Herzegovina, don't the Ooooh parts Dino himself and his backing vocalist count as intro?
@@fabb4i2 Dino is singing himself so no
Is this Serbia's shortest intro?
@@tzoreehandler9163 so far yes!
