Scott, the Chinese Assault Rifle is better than the regular Assault Rifle. Always pick them up and repair them with each other. If you are overweight, just combine similar items. If you are still overweight after combining, don’t forget to transfer those items over to Fawkes for safe keeping. On your next return trip to Megaton, you can sell all your unneeded stuff including the stuff you placed in Fawkes inventory. But you may want to keep weapons like the Chinese Assault rifle or other weapons you need to make repairs to your gear you use a lot. And remember, if you don’t want to lug around the added weight of additional repair weapons, just unload them into your bedroom filing cabinet for future use. Nothing you place in a filing cabinet, toolbox, etc. will ever disappear. So always stow your “future use gear” in your bedroom filing cabinet so you don’t need to carry the weight around.
Scott, when you find a broadcast tower, look for the little power panels on the sides of the power supplies and make sure to turn them on. If memory serves, activating as many of those breakers along your way strengthens your pipboy’s radio wave reception for better sounding radio. There will be less radio static as you travel deep into the wasteland.
I told you last time that the Deathclaw sanctuary is where you find the best weapon of the game. It is the unique named version of the Gatling Laser. It’s called Vengeance. You find it lying in a puddle of blood, deep inside the Deathclaw sanctuary cavern. It is heavy, but don’t sell it. It is very very powerful. It’s even stronger than Fawkes Gatling laser. You should think about putting some upgrade points into repair skill and big guns.
Talon Armor is the best armor that is not of the power armor archetype. It is worth picking up Talon Armor to combine/repair with other Talon Armor because it goes up exponentially in terms of bottle cap value. When you combine armor pieces it not only increases in value but it goes down in carry weight. And if it’s still too heavy to carry, give it to Fawkes until you need to sell it for hundreds of bottle caps. 😅
Like here’s a textbook example. You opted to throw that rare fatman nuke launcher on the ground because it was 30 lbs. You should have placed it in Fawkes inventory and on your next return trip to Megaton you could have pulled it from his inventory to stow in your bedroom filing cabinet. Maybe down the road you could fix it up and use it or sell it for hundreds of bottle caps.
