Hi TGE i think the door struts may need replacing. Its the same on the slr mclaren after 2 years the struts become weak and need replacing. You can usally tell if they need replacing by pushing up on the door and if it fall back down just a little bit the are getting weak. They should stay where they are when pushed and have no play.
I feel like this is one of them cars that deserves a 3 digit plate.
the clue with the gearbox is to shift under load, then you get relatively instant shifts...... If u get off the accelerator and then blip the gears, they take forever to engage..... try shift while you are still pushing the gas slightly, makes it all go smooth and fast......
Being a very lucky owner of an SLS AMG from new interested to know how much you paid, I agree I think they will only keep going up in price but brings a smile every time I go out for a ride. Enjoy

@@TGE worth every penny, gearbox I agree there was a formal patch to improve responsiveness from AMG in afalterbach I never got done and got used to it being a little slow to respond which I may enquire again as will be an official update not sure if UK dealers can do this now as had to goto Germany originally.

Top purchase Tom. had a E63 with the same but detuned NA engine, would spin up the wheels at pretty much any speed, first outing in the rain nearly went sideways into a bus. Best sounding AMG imho - without the turbo pops and bangs it’s just pure nascar growl that makes you grin like a child. Keep it topped up though, 4mpg in traffic gets stressful if you’ve got less than a quarter of a tank. Those doors make it iconic.
I’ve often overlooked this car. Glad I took the time to watch this and learned a few things. Well done lad 👏👏

Silver is the colour 👍🏻Not a fan of black wheels these days as its getting old but I do think satin black wheels done properly like Shmee did on the AMG Gtr would be Hell.

I sold my previous mercedes glc 250d (2019), it wasn't by any means a poverty spec and went ahead and purchased a Bentley continental 2013 variant, with reasonable spec and mileage. Honestly Tom watching the videos that you churned out over the years had helped to push into that direction.
In terms of sls amg specs, I don’t think there is something more suitable than this...

London looks like a real pain to live. There was a bloke who looked like he was about to walk into your car with his dog then an alfa nearly backed into you and then a bloke nearly fell off his bike into your gt.
Really like it in Silver .... just like a classic Gullwing .... fantastic. The sculptural design element's really comes to life in this colour that seem to be lost in a darker hue ...

When I went on my first AMG driving course they kept telling us that the AMG GT was NOT the SLS successor and that a successor to the SLS would be coming soon (4 years ago). I wonder what happened with that haha

Tom, if I were you..given how much the transmission costs on one of these..have AMG check the fluids all around. This is only something I watched last week with Hoovies Garrage channel last week with his AMG SLS. Worth a thought mate.

Wealthy car this sls as long as gear box oil is changed regularly you should never have a problem with it ✌🏻 otherwise I think there about £30000 to replace

Sold mine cos I couldn't get on with the post 100m/s California gearbox which is slow and torpid and the way it handled across the rear axle.
