I remember seeing this when it first came out. This scene is cute but, not believable at all. In 73, I was taking goju ryu and later took tae kwon do and I could not see why parents would let there kids take karate at such a young awkward age. The kids would not pay attention in class and yet their parents expected the instructors to take to much time with training them. Wait until their teenage years to begin.
