I'd say Rebecca was incredibly generous to her family...if money that's paying for her sister's medical school training and supporting her family wasn't appreciated, or valued, or respected because she's only a high school graduate, then Rebecca shouldn't insult them by the taint of "high school graduate money."
A very important lesson of this story is never -- EVER!! -- bite the hand of the person that is providing something of value to you!!

Not really a mystery when vicariously living through another brings out the shame, guilt, and humiliation. So someone has to pay, dearly. And that something is not something taken but that which is withheld. Those children that commit atrocities, look at what was actively withheld. The resentment from failed expectations fostered by society and family enormous. Listen and read carefully the comments from these videos. Easy to spot those with parents who lived vicariously through one child or another. Someone is going to be left out. Which could be very fortunate for some. Devastating for others.

I would like to know why Rebecca does not clap back to her parents
"So where did the 2 of you go to college? oh wait, you didnt!! You are both high schools DROPOUTS. At least I GRADUATED from High school. You did not.
So can you even read and write? We all know how many HS dropouts who cannot read and write."
Rebecca has the right to sneer at them for that. They need to be treated the same way that they treat their daughter. That is what i would do.

The success of a parent-child relationship is paradoxically signified by the quality of the inevitable divorce that takes place when the children leave home as independent adults.
By that standard, launching Ashley was a failure. Her arrogance and lack of self awareness suggests she would be a lousy doctor anyway.

I glad she stopped helping them or she would have end living for them not herself.

Rebecca is one of those young people who tried to help the sister, but the family is now extorting the supposed uneducated sister. Horrible treatment by a family

Glad Rebecca decided to go to university. That would be one in the eye for her toxic family, especially the harpy, Ashley.

Why would a young woman put up with the abuse, it is time to deny all contact and deny all monetary payments. It is time to live on your own Rebecca.

You should of cut it off when your sister kept asking for more money from you. She or your parents set this up to get money from you. Yet your parents could of picked up another job or more hours at the present work. Such a sad situation.

Rebecca did not get to go to college because her parents would not help financially. She never mentions that when the parents are saying she only went to “high school”.
They all ask for money. If she is only graduated from high school why do they think Rebecca has endless money to support them?
They think Rebecca’s job is enter level at best.
Her sister could never have had that first year of college if Rebecca had paid for it. And still Ashley looks down at her sister has worthless.

DK was Rebecca selfish for not supporting her sister who told not to return to the family?
Do you remember Rebecca used her saving to help her sister get into college? And didn’t have a lot savings left?
Rebecca demand special meals etc. not caring where the money was coming from.
The family all believed that Rebecca had enter level job. Why did they think she could keep supporting the sister’s medical career? Isn’t the parent responsibility to support their own children? Moreover, the Mom wasn’t even working at part time job to to support their golden child in college.
Rebecca would have gone bankrupt if she kept meeting their financial demands.
She was being responsible for her own life. It was not her job to support people who hated her and downgrade her at every opportunity.
