    From an Arizona website.
But these weren’t just any rocks. From the ground, these large rocks which are arranged into a series of different numbers and letters seem meaningless. However from the air, they tell a very different story. It is here, in what seems like a completely random location, “AZTEC 41” and a simple North compass marker remain inscribed into the desert floor. While slightly overgrown nowadays, these markers would have been used to help overflying military planes find their way back to base when out training in this massive and barren area. The town of AZTEC sits just east of Dateland along Interstate 8 where we started our journey about 40 miles to the south. During WWII, Dateland and a few other surrounding towns, housed army airfields that were part of the Yuma Army Advanced Flying School. This isolated area would have been used to train pilots, sight guns on B-25’s, and provide an unobstructed area to train pilots that would fly throughout the war. The airfields were abandoned in 1957. However, the area nearby still remains in military hands today as the more modern training area of the Yuma Proving Ground, which spans an incredible 1300 square miles.

Congrats on 100K. So sorry for your loss. Our pups are the world to us. Exploration is a huge driving force in my Overlanding. Have done a lot of backpacking. Love floating down a river to see what’s around the bend. Overlanding seemed like the next logical step. I finally bought a Jeep in 2021 and knew I wanted to see more than backpacking allowed on a long weekend. Plus I’m a complete gear nerd. Love the gadgets and what’s better for gadgets than a Jeep??!!

My wife and I learned about overlanding while dating during the COVID lockdowns via RUclips channels like yours, although I think we found TrailRecon 1st. We would have been drawn to it either way though as we both love the outdoors. Got our Jeep 2 years ago. Then a few months later learned we were pregnant 😂. Then once our daughter was old enough to hit the trails we got going off road again. She got to see the Grand Canyon from Point Sublime at just 3 months old. We just love seeing nature without human touch and enjoying the peace and quiet you only get by venturing far from paved roads.

Also, thank you for sharing your faith, few are brave enough to do that. We too love exploring the creation instead of man made things. Your drone shots really emphasize how small and insignificant we are and your comment about the stars at night in the desert is an exclamation point to that! Keep exploring, God Bless!

I do this to get away from it all and see the world broadly and deeply... which is where my style of overlanding comes in. I use the "overlanding" to increase my range (breadth) and I use my feet to hike trails everywhere I go (depth). The best adventures for me are driving out somewhere and then hiking out to find a waterfall or an abandoned cabin or some kind of wildlife. It's not about the offroading or the camping for me... it's about the finding cool stuff. And the coolest stuff may only be interesting to me.

Mine is ver similar to yours, I grew up with access to about 300 acres of east Texas piney woods and was always out exploring. Then you start growing up and getting responsibilities and stuff and forget your passions. A few years ago I found Trail Recon, Lifestyle Overland, Y'alls channel and realized how much I miss being surrounded by nature and have just been on my first trip in a really long time and can't wait for my next trip. Going to the Ouchitas in April! Woohoo!

14:30 looks like an aviation marker dating back to possibly the 40’s. AZTEK could likely be name of the waypoint/ marker. As pilots when we file a flight plan air traffic control gives us many weird names of waypoints we need to fly to.
The circle ⭕️ could mean compass 🧭and the 41 could be a heading which would be North East.

Order has never come by an explosion. Only destruction. The extreme complexity of the human body alone speaks of a divine creator. Strongly identify with the extrovert who would rather just not be around people a lot of the time wide open spaces are where I feel most at ease.

This is a great series. Loving the scenery. But how do you keep the windscreen so clean? I wash my jeep, drive for 5 minutes and have at least 5-10 bugs hit the windscreen. Lol

Always say I'm a people person who doesn't like people, lol! Have no interest in New York as well, people from there seem rude. Sure there's some genuine nice New Yorkers that I haven't has the pleasure of meeting. It's Taz! (The dust devil you saw, lol)

Matt, I have seen a lot of your videos on your modifications on the Gladiator, have you made any modifications to the steering to help with turning the 38x 13.5 you have as my gladiator has those and I find it a bit challenging to turn then if sitting still. Thank you for answering

I still have the factory steering setup. No hydro assist or anything like that. I have added stronger drag link and tie rod.

I want to see new areas of our beautiful country and at the same time less people. A life in retail sales has me wanting less public areas and more time reflecting on why I choose that. lol.

We don’t deserve dogs, they are way better than people. Some of us look for isolated places because it brings us closer to Jesus, his creation is Holy and just unbelievable. Thank you for mentioning Jesus in your video, that’s why you are my favorite overlander, you get it.

As I'm watching more of this video, I'm like you in I don't like people, as a whole, I have friends but shy away from crowds. You talk of being an extrovert, to hear you, I'd say you're an ambivert. Look it up.

Seems like a channel with good information. But watching a 50+ dude with woke hair is too much.

OMG. Woke is not a hairstyle you idiot. It’s a political stance. All you have to do is stop being a judgmental petty person and you can tell from my content I’m a conservative. Be a better human.

Dog mom of 2. I’m so sorry for your loss, from me and my brown speed bumps. Rooster loved the best life possible and you have that to her.
Please tell me where you got your side handles from? I absolutely hate the ones I have and I like yours!!

Grab handles are from Amazon - amzn.to/43Amu05
I added the paracord wrap on them to make them look a little nicer and give a better handle.
